Outstandingly clean cut.
I have for years used an alternate tool to do this job. This tool however does a way better job. Clean cut. The inner diameter is just slightly bigger than a fresh fitting so I recommend Heavy duty PVC glue. I purchased a set of four (1.25, 1.5, 2, 3) individually after using it once.

Okay but slightly disappointed
I just tried out this tool to clear out a 1-1/4" PVC fitting. Yeah it cuts really nice. But the finished result is not the optimal fit. I purchased this tool based on other reviews, expecting it to clean the old pipe out of the fitting and end up with a "nice tight fit" in the socket, like what is required for proper solvent welding of the PVC material. You should not even be able to push the pipe all the way into the fitting easily. This tool did not produce the desired result. Maybe I'm picky, I work with high quality furniture grade PVC pipe and fittings and this tool does not produce something very close to the snug fit of a new fitting. The pipe drops in and there is a small gap. I even tried a piece of standard plumbing grade PVC pipe and same gap. However it did cut very nicely with the carbide bit and left a very clean surface, so it made quick enjoyable work. That's the only reason I gave four stars and not three. Maybe I can modify it, moving the carbide cutter inwards a little if that is possible. At least what I'm working on does not have to carry fluids (I am repairing some training stands for roller skaters) So I will see what kind of "gap filling" PVC cement I can find and should be okay. I was just disappointed at the loose fit. If you are wondering, I used the tool under ideal conditions - able to fix the workpiece where it was easy to work on and could line up the drill perfectly. Sometimes I wonder about some of these reviews.

Great idea but it cracked my PVC fitting
I've seen plumbers use this tool to save time during repairs. The concept is great but the tool didn't work for me! When used as described, the tool cracked my 1" PVC Tee that I was trying to clean out to add a new piece of pipe to fix a crack. Also, the instructions mention that the tool is not recommended on pressurized water lines, just DWV (non pressured pipes.)

Nice Tight Socket .. Lifetime Build Quality
It worked very well .. made for a nice tight dry-fit in a 200 psi application .. didn't have to use the heavy duty gray cement, just the blue. Old pipe can shrink with age and this tool may require some hand sanding inside the pipe and maybe a little Permatex Anti-Sieze to get the pilot started in. But your new socket will be like factory new, which is what you want. I was doing some surgery in close quarters about 9" below ground level yesterday with this tool, and had to jury-rig an extension to make it happen. I used a DeWalt http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000CNO722?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage and built up the 5/16" hex on the Reed Tool with aluminum duct tape to fit the DeWalt's 3/8" semi-hex socket. Order some 5/16" hex and make your own .. just in case. Now, I'm not a plumber, but if there is some kind of water crisis out here on a Sunday, and with the closest Home Depot being an hour each way, I've invested in 4 of these, 3/4" thru 1-1/2", and have great confidence that I can fix just about anything PVC with what I have on hand. These tools are indeed pricey, but they are lifetime build quality, in possession, and I'm the only non-plumber available out here on any Sunday :)

PVC Pipe Fitting Refurbisher
Did an excellent job of removing the PVC pipe to be able to reuse the pipe fittings.
