Works but must be nailed

I ordered no less than 7 different blinds trying to find what worked best. I also wanted white so that it looked ok from outside the front of our house but needed them to also be full black out. Like other reviewers have already warned you about, cutting them to size is a workout. I used an older, rarely used serrated kitchen knife and sawed at an angle. The first few times I thought I might die. I might have lost consciousness a time or two and then kept sawing as I came to. As I got more used to the incredible amount of force necessary to saw through these mothers it went much more quickly. Still, when I got through it I was out of breath and bit faint. Next, the sticky strip at the top isn’t going to cut it. Give up the dream and just accept it out of the box. In fact, don’t buy these without a plan that doesn’t include using its own adhesive strip. I tried a lot of things including a very detailed plan of attaching super strong magnets to the window sill and the shade. Wasn’t that a great idea? No. It. Wasn’t. In theory it was perfect. In execution it was too much work. Even liquid nails wouldn’t stick the magnet to the shade. So, what’s a girl to do? I got out a hammer and nails and beat that sucker into submission. The very top plastic like top can be folded up just enough to get a nail or screw underneath. Then just pound it into the window sill. I installed these blinds behind my plantation blinds so it worked well. Nothing messy to see here folks. It’s quite dark. Very dark, actually. Yes there is a little bleed through on the edges because it’s difficult to get the size exactly right. But it totally blocks at least 95% of the street light outside of our window and the inexplicable bright as the sun red light bulb our neighbors installed on their upper deck that beams right into our bedroom. Amsterdam much? With these blinds installed, it’s so dark that you have to make sure the floor is picked up because if you get up in the night you won’t be able to see and a rogue sock can take you out. I’ll let you wonder how I know that. ???? If you do want light to come in they are pretty easy to push up. No cords. We just reach behind our plantation blinds and push as high as we want and they hold in place. All in all these are a success and we would buy again. Just remember to loosen up, stretch and shoot a power drink before you start sawing and have your hammer and nails ready.

Very impressed

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I ordered the blinds but was hoping for the best. I can honestly say they are amazing!! They turned out so much better than I expected. The quality is very nice they don’t look or feel cheap, they pull down with ease and pushing them back up is also very easy and smooth. You can’t beat the price for these. It’s totally worth it. I’m going to order some for my sons room and our kitchen window. I would recommend getting a better adhesive, I saw that the gorilla two sided tape was recommended on a video I watched and we didn’t even try the adhesive it came with, just used the gorilla tape.

Good! With a fault that can be easily fixed

I needed room darkening window treatments in my toddler son’s room. We had white blinds previously installed but lately noticed that he wasn’t napping well during the day due to the light filtering in. He just started walking and because I don’t like the look of curtains that don’t reach the floors, curtains weren’t an option. I wasn’t looking to spend too much as he has a lot of windows in his room. Buying window treatments for all of them - especially the wide one could get pricey. And so we decided to give this a go despite the one star reviews which mainly referenced the terrible adhesive as the con. I like the ability to customize the width to fit inside your frames perfectly minimizing light seeping in from the edges. The blinds itself does a pretty good job of darkening the room and my son went back to napping during the day. Huge plus the blinds glide up and down effortlessly. Everyone is correct that the adhesive is garbage. If I can redo the installation I’d make sure to screw closer to the outer edges and not even bother with the adhesive. We installed three screws - one in the middle and two at the ends but left a good 4-5 inches away from the outer edges. Sure enough an hour after installation, the adhesive from the edges peeled away from our frames from the 4-5 inches we left open from the sides. This was easily remedied with additional screws but we should have known better. I’m satisfied with this product and glad we took a chance on it. I’d purchase again.

It’s good for the price, I’m glad we bought it!

This blind works great, it keeps the heat from the sun out of the room, it’s not totally blackout but it works really well to keep light out. I will mention it is not as easy to cut as it looks. It took a lot of effort and a very sharp knife. The adhesive is not great. We read another review that recommended putting a few screws in the top to mount it where the adhesive is. This worked great. I highly recommend drilling a few screws in to mount it. Other than that it works great and I’ll be ordering another for our spare bedroom

Fell off after only a week

I purchased this product for my toddlers room as he has a streetlight right outside his room. We received the product on April 1st and put them up promptly. The instructions on how to measure and cut the blinds were not too difficult but not super clear. We installed them the same day and were happy with how they looked and how well they kept out the light (both at night and in the afternoon for his naps). A day or 2 later we noticed the blinds themselves were starting to 'sag' on to one side... this was after only 3 or 4 uses. We figured it was just a minor esthetical issue that we could deal with as long as it does the job. we then started to notice that the blinds were peeling from the top of the frame, and it was damaging the actual fabric. Exactly a week after installing these blinds, they fell off the frame after having to reinforce several time though out that 5-6 day period. We are very disappointed as it took us quite a while to find the right size blinds for the window, with a decent neutral colour, 'easy' to install, and easy to use. Our toddler is now not able to sleep in his room due to the amount of light that is entering and we are scrambling to find a decent alternative, especially considering the circumstance. As the blinds have fallen multiple times now, they have become damaged and will no longer stay adhered to the frame. We are very disappointed and would not recommend this blinds.

Perfect blackout behind my shutters.

These were a wonderful solution to my shutters that let in too much light. Easy-ish to cut (do not use a serrated edge) and easy to install. I read other reviews that mentioned that the adhesive did not hold for long so I opted on using my staple gun to give them extra adhesion. These are lovely, block ALL light and work well. I am very pleased.

The blind doesn't stick!

This is a nice-looking blind that blocks light as advertised. Too bad it doesn't stick in place as advertised! This blind is supposed to stick in place. I installed it in a vinyl window, wiped it all down with alcohol as directed in the instructions, waited more than the recommended 1/2 hour before using it, and by morning it was laying at the bottom of the window! Obviously, the tape they provide on the blind is useless. I ended up buying a long strip of industrial Velcro to get the thing to stay up. I shouldn't have to do that with an $89 blind! I now see where many have experienced the same problem.

HAPPY!

This blind quality is better than I have expected. It is quite sturdy but pretty light for a female to hang it up on the wall. I have it covered for my East side window which blackouts the sunlight very well for the early morning. My room temperature went down about 2-3 degrees after it's installed. I was lucky enough not having to trim the width as it fits perfectly. Length though is not long enough. I had to use a velcro tape as the glue was not strong enough. It's very well packaged and arrived the next day. Overall it's a great product for the value!! If you are looking for an easy installation, blackout, well made blind: this is the ONE!
