Functional but not sturdy
Got two, they work quite well, it’s not necessary to buy an upgraded product to get the adequate function.

My comparison of Ateco vs OXO
When I bought the Ateco Bench Scraper with Plastic Handle I already owned and seldom used theOXO Good Grips Multi-Purpose Pastry Scraper/Chopper . I was looking for a bench scraper that would help me smooth icing on the sides of cakes. I felt the OXO was too bulky for that purpose. I love Ateco products. They are aimed at the professional as well as the homemaker. So when I came across the Ateco Bench Scraper I decided to try it. The price was very reasonable. I'm very glad I ordered this product. The plastic handle is about half the width of the OXO. The Ateco handle is textured. This helps make it slip-resistant when wet. The OXO handle feels like hard rubber. They both have stainless steel blades but the Ateco is much more shiny. The OXO blade is dulled like a satin finish. The Ateco blade is 5 7/8" x 3" which makes it a little smaller than the OXO's 6" x 3 1/8" size. The blades on both brands seem very sharp. The OXO has inch markings on the bottom of the blade, like a ruler. The Ateco does not have this feature. I prefer the Ateco. The slimmer handle makes it less bulky to use. I feel the Ateco would be better for icing cakes because I want something that will act more like an extension of my hand. Both are dishwasher safe. I usually cut stick butter still in the wrapper. For me, this is not an easy task with the OXO. The OXO merely pushed the wrapper down pushing the butter apart until it finally cut through the paper. The Ateco sliced right through the wrapper and hard butter. I hardly ever used the OXO but since I received the Ateco, I have been using it every chance I get.

Very sturdy
This is a great quality bench scraper. It’s very strong and sturdy. Super easy to clean. It more than gets the job done!

Works, residue left behind by sticker is a rookie mistake for a supposedly premium and storied brand
It got the job done, not sure if it is actually better than a cheaper knockoff. It came with a sticker that left behind residue that could not be cleaned off. Yes I supposed I can go out and buy goo gone, but no one should have to in the 21st century, especially for a "nice" brand like Ateco. There are glues that come off cleanly. Sadly Ateco did not invest in them which is particularly important for kitchen products.

A really handy kitchen tool
I bought this primarily to scrape veggies / herbs off my cutting board after watching J. Kenji López-Alt use one (look him up and you will see what I mean!). It's an absolute must-have for food prep now. It makes my ingredient prep faster and more enjoyable. Something about scooping a giant load of chopped onions in one scoop vs slowly picking them up with your hands in batches is very satisfying.

Essential tool for working with dough...but be careful
Once I got this tool, I never looked back. It truly changed the way I worked with dough and improved my baking experience so much that I"ll never go back. Only giving it a 4 out of 5 because on the 4th or 5th time I used it I badly cut my finger on the metal edge that is curved into the handle. I really don't know how it happened, but as I grabbed it my finger slid in there and the sharp metal cut it deep. I was not expecting that edge to be sharp and it is definitely a safety issue.

Questionable
I have used MANY Ateco products for the past 20 years and this one is very questionable in terms of quality. It’s very flimsy and malleable, not sure how it will hold up as a bench scraper or to smooth the sides of my cakes. Will update this review if I can in a few days after use

Meets expectations
This is a really handy, inexpensive tool to have around the kitchen. Saves me from dulling the edge of my knife when scooping up things to transfer to cookware, and it's great for diving up dough! Solidly build, and I like the aesthetics of the wood handle. Gets the job done, no-fuss.

Excellent product...very stury and nice finish...

Great. Exactly What I expected
I purchased the wooden version. It's attractive, and a good size. I use it mostly for scraping left over bread dough off my counter, and it works perfectly. I haven't tried putting it in the dishwasher; it never gets dirty enough to warrant more than a quick sponge. I don't feel sorry for the reviewers who put theirs in the dishwasher and saw bad results. If you're going to put your wooden utensils in the dishwasher, or leave them soaking in water, you should expect to destroy the finish. Wood is porous. Common sense, people.

Excellent value!
Ordered this based on reviews of the product, as well as others from the manufacturer, and it turned out to be a safe bet. The product is well constructed, made of good, or pehaps excellent quality materials given the price, and it works well. You can use this as a dough cutter/splitter, or even to pick up chopped veggies. If this is something you're looking at, go for it, especially given the price. Can't go wrong.

Nice scraper
I use this for 3 years and the wood handle looks like new. I use it to cut the dough or to lift it. I obviously wash it by hand and let it air dry. The wood is still looking good. I really like this scraper. Of course it also work for scraping dry dough or other spills from different surfaces.
