Accurate Readings
tested with fieldpiece meter and was spot on at 32 degrees. did have to file the prongs to fit fieldpiece but for the price no big deal for me. i am ordering another and will keep posted next time i do ac testing.

For the money, this is a very good choice.
I tested the new unit I just received yesterday. I used two other type K thermocouples to see it it was accurate or to at least see just how close they compared to each other..... they all came to within +/- 0.1*F. That is not bad for this price. The Good: 1: The actual unit seems to look a bit better in quality and materials used than the photos give it credit for...... it is a good looking piece of equipment. 2: It seems to be very accurate for an instrument of this price range too. 3: It does not seem to be too easy to break. Good quality materials in general. The Cons: 1: In big letters it says it is China made, not Taiwan or others of better origins and quality. 2: Basically, after the Amazon 30 days warrantee, I would not expect anything else to follow. 3: I do NOT wish to test it to failure, but, it does look like you could break the plastic joint without much effort if you try to use it on something just a bit too large. Like if you were to push to fit or try to spread it just a tad too wide. (Merely be a bit more careful.) 4: Most of us want to clamp this on a smaller pipe or copper tubing,... like say a 3/8" copper tubing condenser outlet, but it does not like smaller sizes too much and wants to slip off point. (Even so, I did make it work, it took just a tad bit of extra care and effort to make it work, and it did just fine! I am glad I have it.) So, unless you are willing to spend at least $50+ for a better one, with a little care, I would hazard a guess that this will serve you well and with a little extra care, it may last a long while doing it too! Enjoy!

Klein clamp dupe/knockoff
Exact component as Klein brand k-type thermocouple clamp. Both feel super cheap. Tested against klein and Fieldpiece - TC24. The klein was inconsistent on temps and this "Pyle brand" knock off of Klein was degree for degree to Fieldpiece - TC24 at $75. Save yourself $50 and buy the Pyle, out the box it will work, not sure on longevity.

Worth the $15
A co worker and I bought one of these about 3 weeks ago, We are service techs for a hvac company in Iowa. Mine is still working, my co workers busted the plastic at the hinge. Most likely from being shut in his van door :/ but any ways. Here are my thoughts on it. The plastic and spring seem solid, No troubles with the plastic or spring yet and it's used on a daily basis. The type k plug is made of a fairly cheap metal and bends easily. The wire which connects to the sensing pad is not secured to anything on the clamp, other then the solder on the pad. I've added some security to it by adding a zip tie to the wire to insure its not pulling on the soldered wire end. Other then that I'd say worth the $15. Not sure if spending an extra $20-30 on a name brand will gain you much. If this one breaks soon I may try a more expensive one, but it shows no signed of failing soon.

I received two of these pipe clamps and tested them ...
I received two of these pipe clamps and tested them in both ice and boiling water on my Fieldpiece ST4. They were both off by a few degrees. I calibrated the ST4 to correct this but it's not possible to get an accurate calibration for both cold and hot water with the same clamp. It seems the thermistor used does not have the dynamic range accuracy of the comparable Fieldpiece components that cost four times more. If I keep these, I will mark one with blue tape for the suction line and use the other for the liquid line, then calibrate each clamp for cold and hot respectively to improve their performance. Also, as others have mentioned before, the connector prongs are slightly curved and fit a little too tightly into my Fieldpiece.

This product has a little bead thermocouple soldered or glued ...
This product has a little bead thermocouple soldered or glued on the inside of a metal plate attached to the clamp. This means its measuring the temperature of the pipe through the thermal conductivity of the piece of metal directly in front of the bead. The grip strength of the clamp is weak and moves around when measuring vertical line sets knocking out of alignment the bead thermocouple. The temperature was warmer by 2-3 degrees in a cup of ice water when my other probes are spot on. For a student in HVAC working on equipment in a community college you really cannot beat the price when compared with some of the bigger names. For the field, I won't be purchasing another one of these.

so far so good just got it
feels cheap and not very durable but it is accurate i compared it to my other testo set up so its accurate just feels very cheap and not durable

Pyle Clamp Temperature it’s the Best
The Pyle Clamp Temperature Probe is the only Temperature device that will let you see the true temp on a copper line for reading the A/C condenser temperature so I could charge the System correctly. You HVAC guys out there using just a temp probe, it touches both the pipe and the insulation and it will not let you get a true reading. The pipe clamp reads only the pipe temperature.

Not accurate AT ALL, usless for taking pipe temperatures

Accurate reading for the price, within +/- 1deg C, Good build quality on the clamp, feels sturdy
Accurate reading for the price, within +/- 1deg C, Good build quality on the clamp, feels sturdy. Tested with boiling water and an ice cube. Like any temp probe it will be slightly affected by surrounding conditions, no temp reading is perfect. Used it for AC line temp to get a reading for the super heat. Worked well

Dont use for HVAC...
Ordered this anticipating it wouldn't last very long, but would least get me through a few jobs.. not even.. !! Didnt work out of the box. Gave me crazy readings and then stoped working. DONT buy for HVAC.. sensors will not hold up on the tiny little spot weld on this very cheep thin metal. However it maks a nice clamp..

They were cheap, and for a good reason
They are not as accurate as I had hoped. There is usually a few °F difference found between the two I ordered.

Decent Value
For the price is a decent item. Occasionally I have to adjust it to get an accurate reading.
