The 2"x5"x0.5" Soft Block is very good! ...but feels overpriced.
So this is a great block for sanding both flat and curved surfaces, and I really recommend purchasing it if you do any wet sanding. I would purchase it again. BUT, I can't help thinking that if I knew where to buy this type of foam, I could cut at least 5 of these for $10 rather than just 1. So, rather than buying more now, I'm trying to find a foam that's similar to it from McMaster or someone. There's not a lot of "engineering" that went into this block—it's just foam rubber—though I do notice that this block appears to be made of 2 layers of foam (black and gray), but I'm not sure if they are different density. It appears the bottom half _may_ be slightly less dense than the top half, but not sure how required that would be. I think I've even seen a similar type of foam used for packaging some products. (Things that come in those fancy durable boxes, that are sometimes hinged—like smart phones, vaporizers, airbrushes—anything they're trying to give a "luxury" feel—sometimes come with a piece of it cut out to fit the product. Keeping my eye out! Until then, go for this, I guess!

NOT!!! For sticky paper!!!
First off, the product is fine. My low review is for the misleading or rather under-informative product description. Not once anywhere in this description does it state that is not for use with adhesive paper. I pulled the product out of the packaging, applied a strip of 3M 180 Stik-it, did my thing, went to refresh the strip and tore the whole pad to pieces. Effectively made it one time use all because nothing ever mentioned it's intended applications do not include sticky paper. To reiterate: the product is just fine, it cut beautifully during is first use. Even pressure, contoured like a dream, not a single problem until I discovered it wasn't meant for sticky paper. This review is more for the product description than anything. I'll be buying another one, but it's going to be for wet sanding or non stick dry paper only.

the size
I not sure what to expect with this item but for the money I assumed it would be quite a bit larger ! It was in fact tiny just about the size of my hand, not very good value and no better than a piece of hard packing foam that I could get for free. I advise customers to check the size I'm sure this was not clear on the description in the add.

useless.
It looks like I misunderstood this products intentions. When I received it, I realized it was just a piece of foam. A very expensive piece of foam. When I ordered it I was thinking it was an actual sanding block, meaning you used it to sand with as the item itself had some abrasive qualities to it. I understood that I still needed sandpaper with it, but this "special" piece of foam somehow made it "better" by being abrasive and holding onto the sandpaper in some special way, At least I think that's what I was thinking. I don't know any more as it has been quite some time since I have been this disappointed in an item. This item is simply a piece of foam with some self-advertising written across it, but has no additional sanding qualities about. Other than being some kind of thick, yet somewhat flexible foam pad about a quarter inch thick. It does not hold onto your sandpaper. In fact, it does not do anything other than being something to wrap your sandpaper around, and it does not even do that very well. Your wet sandpaper still slips around the foam in an annoying fashion so you're never certain of the precision of your sanding. I did use it...for less than 2 minutes. After the first 10 seconds I was thinking "why on earth would anyone need this absurdly overpriced piece of foam to wet sand with? How is this any better than the rubber sanding block I already own that actually HOLDS onto the sandpaper? Why did I pay almost 20 bucks for this?" The answers to my questions are obvious. Question 1: I cannot see any reason why anyone would need this item. And 2, It's not any better. Matter of fact it's worse than the rubber sanding block which is probably less than half the price, easier to hold onto, and actually grips the sandpaper for you. And finally, to answer #3 - I'm still baffled at my own stupidity periodically. If this was $4.99 I probably would have kept it as a reminder that I paid $4.99 for a piece of useless foam and that I am an idiot for doing so. But nope. For $20 it's going back to JB for this weeks yacht remodeling crew to use. This is one of those items that some marketing genius thought up and convinced enough gullible people that they actually really really need this. The guy (or gal) is probably a millionaire by now too. If you bought this and found it useful, well, all the power to you. I'm glad you did. Sincerely, I am. I personally found it useless and I'm quite embarrassed that I even bought it in the first place.

Works well and holds up
I thought this was a little expensive but it works perfectly. Wet sandpaper does not slide around and the sanding is even without any hot spots. I don't feel like it was expensive now that I've used it. It was used it to wet sand clear coat, which left a mirror finish once buffed.
