I finally received a used model in complete condition

I ordered and received 5 models in used condition but only one was in suitable condition and not missing any parts or defects. Of my used (previously returned) orders, two were missing essential parts and three were factory defects where the top removable cap was pressed on so tight at the factory that it could not be removed. Long story short, I finally got lucky, I saved some money and Amazon finally came through.

exactly what I wanted

we moved from a boat to an apartment after 10 years living aboard. on the boat we had used a magma propane kettle to cook meat at least 3 times/week for the full ten years. i became skilled at replacing the burners which would last about 18 months at this level of service. We were unable to find a suitable unit for our new apartment that wasn't either very expensive or very expensive and too big - had to fit in a small garage with a car. I hit on installing our boat-kettle on this pedestal and then attaching the pedestal to the sort of caster base ($38) which is made to mobilize plastic garbage cans. It has turned out wonderfully well. I can easily roll this barbecue in and out of the garage although the compact size of the base means care must be taken when moving it to avoid tipping. It could be that this scheme would not have been economical if i had needed to buy the kettle as well, but then Magma's system for land is quite expensive. Another commenter has questioned the efficacy of the nylon block used to mount the kettle atop the pedestal. I found it more than adequate.

Easy to Use and Sturdy

We accidentally left the grill on the back of the swim platform and opened the engine hatch, which resulted in the pedestal mount bending and breaking at the base. Needed a replacement and turned to Amazon where I found this mount at a "reasonable" price with the necessary Prime Shipping. The mount is fairly lightweight and simple to lock into place or remove. It is streamlined and easy to stow on the boat when needed. We typically remove it when we are underway and re-mount it when docked or anchored, so it does see a lot of action. It can be powerwashed without damaging, rusting or spotting the finish. We use it for our Magma Party Kettle Grill and this pedestal mount has gone strong through 6 seasons already with no issues. I think the initial investment is a bit steep for this unit, but it holds up and performs well, so it has paid for itself 10 fold.

Good product

I’d like the product but it does need a cap to go in the hole of the deck mount. When the riser pole is not screwed in , Right now it’s open so if you walk on it or something gets in the whole like sand or something it’s not going to continue to screw and easily.

Love it but !

Product is nice except the top locking mechanism does not lock you can slide grill up and down over locking pin it just doesn’t catch no matter what . But I still like the product wish there were no plastic parts that would definitely make it a five star product

Missing nuts and bolts plus mount plate had to be drilled

Was dissapointed that I had to provide my own bolts to mount the grill to the mounting plate plus I had to drill my own holes to mount it. Did not think I would have to that, understand not including the bolts to mount the base since the thickness of the area differs from owner to owner and where you mount it. Besides that it works great and stands solid.

Fits with magma grills and easy to install, but you need your own hardware for install.

This is great and worked perfectly with our Magma round kettle grill. Unfortunately, The hardware to install into swim platform is not included. We had to go purchase stainless steel screws at west marine.

CAUTION! Does not mount to all Magma Marine Grills!

5-stars for the product itself, but 1-star for the fact that Magma does a piss poor job of describing what grill this will mount for. You would think it should fit all their marine grills but NO it does not!! I had to order another mount for this to fit on my Magma Caba Grill. This item is already priced too high, try adding another $30 on top of it for this dang correct mounting bracket!

It is very light.

I bought this to mount the BBQ on the swimming platform on my boat but till next summer I mounted it on a 3/4 inch piece of plywood in the backyard.. As per instructions it'll not be used under power but it is easily dismantled to be stored below deck . I am happy with the product .
