Works great!
This product works beautifully! This is a cold water dye and requires non-iodized salt and soda ash to activate, so don't forget to pick those up for proper mixing. The black requires double (or more) the amount of dye...keep that in mind if that's your color of choice. In an effort to debunk some of the bad reviews, proper fabric selection and a little research on what fabric is appropriate for this dye and the dying process is recommended! Not your mama's RIT!

Unpredictable, but vivid
I needed to tone down my white coat, to be a bit more discreet in a crowd. Man in white coat stands out too much. So, I used Procion Navy color on my wool coat. Used vinegar as binder. Only magenta dye from the mix bound to wool. Results are complete opposite of what I wanted. Now I may as well add feather hat and heavy gold chain to complete the outfit. Even this was a disaster; I still like Procion dyes. When fabric properly accepts these dyes, results are beautiful. One star off for unpredictability.

"Olive" isn't green
I use these dyes regularly This "Olive" color is more of a light denim on a white white cotton shirt. Picture for comparison to the Olive jacket next to

Nice Splits!
This splits really nice to a turquoise/greenish color. The ice dye effects are great! The real drawback is that it is a clumpy one, so it rolls off geode ties. I would buy it again for the flatter folds.

Glad I got this pale aqua on sale
Let me start by saying this stuff stinks like cow manure! It's so awful it's hard to work with, and after the shirts stink too. Hope this review helps anyone not wanting to experiment on a bunch of shirts like I did. The pale aqua powder looks yellow when you open it. I think this might be a defective jar or the color was labeled incorrectly. Aqua should have no yellow in it, it's a pale blue which is a primary color. Hot Pink looked red when I mixed it up. More of a bubblegum than hot pink imo. Still pretty though. First shirt is part cotton part polyester and as you can see only the threading picked up the aqua dye. This dye won't work on pure polyester so that's why that shirt stayed white while the threading picked it up. I think it looks cool like this so I'm ok with that but might use dylon or RIT to dip dye the polyester part on the bottom for an ombre effect. The Burton Raglan shirt already had the sleeves dyed, and this pale aqua surprisingly matched it even though it's more pale teal. The aqua didn't look aqua really to me but mint or teal. Worked great for that shirt though. The pale shirt was an attempt at an ombre effect with the pale aqua. It's 75% poly 25% cotton so it didn't pick up the dye very well even on the parts left for many hours at the bottom. It's still not that vibrant. Might need to dip it in a bahama blue dylon to make it pick up the color on the bottom more. It won't be the same color but will blend nicely. The hot pink was pretty much bubblegum. It doesn't really look like hot pink to me. Pretty still but also didn't mix well, even in hot water! You can see on the last all pink shirt a bunch of big spots where undisolved powder wrecked the shirt. I'm glad I used a shirt I don't care about first on that color test. The double dipped Florida logo shirt is my fave, that one was the hot pink on the bottom and the orange was Dylon Goldfish Orange and it was far superior. Not only is the powder much easier to dissolve, the color comes out more uniformly. I think I'll be sticking with Dylon from now on. It has the soda ash already in the powder and it dissolves easily and it also adheres more uniformly to the shirts that aren't pure cotton etc. I mixed some of the hot pink with the pale aqua for this last shirt that came out really badly for 56% linen 44% poly. The colors are all separated and it doesn't blend well even though these are the same brand. You can barely even see the purple I was hoping for but more of the aqua which looks more mint green on this one.

Black dye is just not taking at all.
I used some and didn’t take at all . Then re-dyed with a TON and let it sit almost 48 hrs and barely anything noticeable. I haven’t decided if I’m returning it or not. I need to do some research to see if this is normal but I doubt it is. I know Amazon has issues with fakes and I’m worried that’s the case here. It’s just so bad I can’t believe it to be the real thing especially when every other color has such a rich and beautiful pay off. Be wary.

Excellent dye, needs additional instructions
Like many others who have left lower or negative reviews, I also did not have the greatest results at first. After trying twice on a set of linen clothes the best I got was a darker blue-grey tint; both times stirring and leaving it in the dye bath for several hours. I didn't have any soda ash, but the instructions suggested that salt could be used as an alternative. I didn't have any luck with that. I decided to give it one more try and picked up soda ash, and also white vinegar (for setting the color in natural fabrics) which had been suggested by another reviewer. I soaked and aggitated the clothes in warm water with some soda ash. I boiled a large pot of water and added a cup of soda, poured that into the dye bath, added the wetted clothes, and stirred for 15 minutes. I let it sit for 1 hour (I don't know if it was necessary), then stirred again for 15 minutes. After the second stir I pulled the cloth out of the bath and squeezed out as much dye water as possible before putting them in another 5-gal bucket filled with 2 gal of white vinegar. I stirred that for another 15 minutes, then put them into the wash machine. This was the magic formula - I could tell immediately that they had finally been dyed a rich, deep solid black. After drying, the color remained rich and my clothes look amazing! I've worn this outfit several times, and there has been no color bleeding or dye rubbing off onto my body. For anyone struggling with this dye, the soda ash/sodium carbonate is imperative (I used Arm and Hammer picked up at the local grocery store), and I would also suggest vinegar (for natural fabrics) to make sure the color sets. After my experience I will certainly buy this dye again. It would be nice if the instructions on the container were clearer, and in larger print, but it is an excellent product and I highly recommend it.

It's the best dye ever!
I don't know what I expected but I was blown away by the quality and intensity of these dyes. I have a tie dye business and these dyes have taken my products to a new level! And you don't have to use heat...they are cold processing. Could not possibly be any easier. Thrilled!!!

Not black it's grey
Gave it 3 stars as it doesn't seem to dye things black they come out grey but however I did like the grey colour very much!

doesn't work
overpriced junk and it doesn't work. I tried cold dying a hat in the solution by following directions on the jar, even letting it soak overnight, but the dye washed out completely. Do not waste your money on this.

Jet Black... sometimes.
For the price it's not quite as much as I'd of liked but it was shipped from USA to UK so can't complain there. Orange baby vest is the first time I used the black. Really didn't say "jet black" to me. Second time turned out better. So sadly even though I follow the instructions I'm finding it to be hit and miss. Put the photo of the ruler and crayola pen on so you can judge the time.
