Great replacement for broken plastic shelf pins

Got this to replace a broken plastic shelf pin in a bookcase. These are standard size shelf pins in sturdy metal. You will need to drill holes if your cabinet has odd size holes.

Perfect for Ameriwood & Mylex Brands of Inexpensive Bookcases

Top quality & perfect for adding extra shelves in the inexpensive Ameriwood & Mylex (Toronto, Canada) brands of bookcases, which can be ordered from Amazon & elsewhere. You need a perfect fit on these pegs; measure the diameter of your current ones, like I did, to be sure. Both too loose & too large will present problems. Simply measure your holes distance, mark them with a dot, & drill carefully -- not all the way through. These were cheap; order a couple of extra packages (once you determine you have ordered the correct size). Because these bookcases NEVER seem to come with enough original shelves. ALSO, a good idea is to add extra bracing between shelves, if you're going to "load" your shelves with books, like I do. Use either 1x4's or wxr's & paint them ahead of time appropriately. One in the middle will do; and DON'T forget to glue a piece of wood under the very bottom appropriately. That will essentially provide your entire stack of books resting flush against your floor, without sag.

Great pegs, great price. Take note of specs not matching picture, though.

These pegs are great, solid construction, do the job, and great price for someone who only needed a few replacements. I am docking one star because the specs shown in the product photo don't match the actual peg; they are in fact shorter than the photo indicates. The photo shows the peg total length as 7/8" (14/16") whereas in reality it is about 11/16". The round part is shown as 5/16" and that matches exactly, which means that the flat part which the shelf rests on is shorter than you would expect (9/16" per spec, but closer to 6/16" in reality). This didn't cause a problem for me, but take caution if your shelves are considerably shorter than the cupboard width.

Too big

Looking for pegs to replace the plastic ones that broke. These metal pegs are too big and wont fit into the holes in my bookcase. Because they are metal, I cant even shave them down.
