Worked, but only after I enlarged the receiving slot

The thickness of this lock's latch was thicker than the previous, so I had to take a dremel and widen the slot it goes into.

Not perfect but was just happy to find a mechanism that more or less worked with the antique mailboxes here.

Almost perfect fit for my circa 1955 apartment mailbox. Aligned with screw holes, key aperture, and the strike hole. However, the tongue that goes into the strike hole was too thick. I had to flatten it by squeezing it in a bench vice. As noted in the product description, the key can only be removed if the mechanism is in the locked position. So it doesn't give you the option of leaving unlocked if you want someone else to access (unless you have the tongue protrude and rest it on the outside of the box, making the door tilt open and be obviously unlocked). Also, the key is not substantial, need to be careful not to bend it by twisting too hard in the lock. Had to flatten the key in the bench vice too, after making that mistake.

SAVED ME!

I have an old house with the old brass mailbox that is built into the wall! 3 family home so 1 big unit with 3 compartments. Well this house has been in my family for over 60 years and YUP I was the one and only one that lost the key!!!!! Without finding this on Amazon I would have to get a locksmith or worse replace the entire unit. Thats for having this available. I bought 3 (just in case)!!!

Any lock you always have to grease when is dry

I like the price, I don't care about bad reviews every body is diferent, take your time installing it , with a long nose plyer open the the hole for the lock a little bed if you can get it line up and when it is installed make sure to grease it with plenty of Vaseline,I use a Q tip to grease it,follow this instructions the lock will less for ever, when ever you think is dry grease with Vaseline.

Broke within three uses

These are definitely inferior quality. I have older versions of this same lock that have worked for years, and these are junk. I've talked to local locksmiths that refuse carry this style lock anymore because they can only buy this specific model and brand and they fail almost instantly. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY

Crap product

First one to loose key just spins product doesn't work. Ordered a second one and the locking mechanism doesn't move. Pretty much expected for cheap piece of crap lock I guess. But can't find a replacement anywhere else.

Very poor quality!

I had to return it. After installation it worked fine for 2 days and then it broke. The key started rotating 360 degree into the lock. Not recommended!
