be careful with the length of the latch

while all the dimensions indicated were 1:1 to the one I had to replace, but the length of the latch itself is not indicated. So I was surprised when the body fit perfectly, but the latch was far too short, i.e. would not even come through the full metal frame of my sliding door. Luckily the latches are exactly the same and I could use the one from my old one. If that would have been broken it would have been useless. So if your sliding door is the same as mine where the distance from the middle of the lock to the end of the frame is around 1 3/4" make sure your old latch is still usable. Otherwise this is no good. This measurement should be indicated too on the picture. Therefore only 4 stars.

May fit too large, so be prepared

Even though it's a 1:1 replacement and the dimensions technically match, this is about 0.75-1mm wider than our much older version. We had to use a dremel to remove a little from the screen door opening and the edge of the latch. Not a big deal, but due to the imprecision of the measurements you may have to make some adjustments to get it to fit, even if you already have one of these installed.

Don't keep from buying this a product by reading only Neg Reviews

This latch fit the sliding screen door that came with our Milgard Tuscany sliding patio door like a golve. The quality and fit was was even better than the OEM latch that came with the screen door. I had the specs for the the screw distance so I knew it would fit OK, but was really surprised regarding the cast metal latch, much better quality. Installation including removing the old latch only took me about two to three minutes start to finish. Be careful when asking a question to the buyers forum, some of the answers will leave you saying why do people post answeres like, I don't know I've never bought this part, or not sure what a latch is, and last but not least, I returned mine the color black was not idenitical to my original one. I am really pickey wanting quality and a good price all in one and I got both with is latch. If the slider we have in our bedroom ever need replacment this is what i will get for it.

IT would be fine if it fit my door opening

I'm not going to give this a really bad review because it didn't fit my door opening. It's a quality product but it cannot magically alter its size and shape to fit. My complaint is the description does not give the dimensions, which is why I now own a totally useless door latch.

Sturdy - Door Latch replacement for Screen Door

It's a good product our old latch broke to where you could not lock it. We have a dog that lets herself in so that is why the lock is needed. If she could shut the door I would not need the lock. It is metal and very sturdy. The price could be a little lower like 1/2 price. But better than having to buy a whole new screen door when the old one is still good.

So so

I think this part on my new sliding glass door was defective and it broke so we had to replace it with this part on Amazon because the hardware store did not have it in stock. OK but this part cost me half of what I paid for the whole sliding glass door so that’s why I didn’t give it five stars. It works great though the other one was very Stiff and difficult to open or lock.

Great replacement latch for our screen door

I wasn't ready to buy a new door, but the latch plastic parts broke and the door would not latch. I have indoor cats who learned how to open the screen! The manufacturer wanted 30% more in price, so I am thrilled to have found this item here on Amazon. The basic part is made of metal, but the actual sliding pieces are plastic - hope I don't have to replace it again any time soon. Beats paying $100 for a new sliding screen door.
