Imagine anything new that is a perfect match for something originally made 63 years ago.

Our home has a pocket door between the kitchen and the home's hallway. It's rarely been used due to being difficult to roll into place and back into its wall pocket. This is because it was painted numerous times prior to our buying our house and after numerous kitchen floor changes (the home was built in 1958), the door dragged on the flooring and simply needed a lot of work. This required trim and partial pocket-frame removal to get the door out to do the necessary work on it. One of the items that needed to be removed was the plastic floor guide that keeps the door running true in its horizontal travels. Unfortunately, I had to break the original plastic guide because the two screws used to hold it to the floor had rusted and couldn't be backed out. After searching online for a replacement I found this Prime-Line N 6565 Prime-Line Universal Door Guide, and placed an order for one through Amazon. It's uncanny how closely it resembles the original 63-year old guide. Dimensionally they are a complete match. Visually the plastic used in the new guide isn't translucent like the original, but otherwise this is a perfect match and replacement for our door. It appears to be a quality-made product and the price was excellent. Imagine finding anything new today that matches something made new 63 years ago!

Got a 36" door? Get 2 of these.

These work much better than the two piece guides, look better ( where they can be seen) and are much easier to install. I found out that, for my 36" door, I needed two of them in a "train" configuration to provide enough coverage to guide the door in both fully closed and fully open position. It was fun finding out the hard way that one may not be enough to do the job if you have a 36" door.

Great solution for pocket doors

This is plastic but is fairly sturdy and was up to the task of replacing my 60 year old pocket door guides. I found that I had to do a bit of custom fitting, but the guide was easy to modify. I will report back in a year to say if they hold up.

Too Short

I wish these were longer. They are not very tall and i would have to shim the bottoms to get them up high enough to hold each side of my closet doors. But if you don't have a height problem, then i guess they would work for you. Comment Comment | Permalink
