I used this for my boat.
I bought this product for my boat. I have several round rails on my boat but no cup holders. So when I found this product that could be moved easily I took a chance and ordered two. I am happy to say they work great!!!! They hold plastic water bottles and metal water bottles very well and cans and adult beverage bottles perfectly when they have a foam or neoprene koozie. Without the koozie they can rattle around a little but still don't fall out. They hold the rails tightly and can be moved easily. They can slip a little with enough pressure on the axis of the clamp on the smooth stainless rails even with the rubber pads, but in my case I view that as a plus since i would hate to have them get snapped off from somebody bumping into them on a hard wave. Obviously I don't have to worry about them marring the rails since they're plastic and not mounted on anything painted. They seem sturdy and well built with thick plastic. They look nice and seem to work great. For the price I'm thrilled. The only cons...they're no written directions. But mounting is fairly straight forward and uncomplicated. The screw that holds the clamp in either the vertical or horizontal position is a metric allen head screw so if you don't have a set, it's going to be hit or miss with the SAE hex wrenches to loosen it to change the position. It would be nice if they provided this wrench, but then again that would add cost to the product. Over all great product, great price.

Tough!
Love this thing. Mounted it on the upright part of the handlebars on my Honda Rebel (rattletrap :). I tried to make a video about this, but amazon rejected it, not sure why, so here's the text. 1) I do not understand the "flipping" problems come people have. If you're thinking this will rotate between the clamp and the mail body, it won't. There's a + connector inside that only allows 4 positions. You just need a hex wrench to get out the screw and switch from one to the other. 2) It's possible the "flipping" is more like swinging around the tub at the clamp. This is what the little rubber piece is or, just clamp it in between the tube and the clamp jaws for all the security you want. 3) The clamp has a tightening screw that works a lot like most bicycle wheel hubs do nowadays: spin the little flip lever to get the jaws to open more (or less) then flip the lever down for final tightening. I absolutely do not understand the people who are breaking the lever on first use. My guess is that they either over spun to tighten, or didn't think about spinning at all. 4) Holds comfortably: small cardboard coffee cups, most 20oz bottles, some large drink cups, standard aluminum drink bottles. Don't try: anything larger then 32 oz, anything not sized for auto console cup sizes, anything really small, anything kinda flimsy. Much more tough and rugged than I expected. 2a) Just realized, if you mount it on a horizontal bar, yeah, "flipping" via rotation at the clamp might be a problem. Try mounting on a vertical, and make sure to use the rubber piece.

Treadmill Drink Holder - Solved
I have a low-end treadmill with no bells or whistles. This product is perfect to keep your water bottle within arm's reach. After studying the device for a minute, I figured it out and it was easy to attach. I lifted up the quick-release tab and twisted it counter-clockwise to increase the size of the clamp opening. It seems like if the tab is too easy to snap down, you may not have twisted it tight enough. I didn't want the holder to move if bumped or while the treadmill was shaking. However, I felt like I was going to twist it too tight and perhaps bend the treadmill bar or break the clamp; but it seems fine now. Another reviewer mentioned that if the quick-release tab is too hard to release, it is useless. In this application I disagree because I'll rarely if ever want to take it off. I made it somewhat tight to keep the cage from sliding up or down. I used a small piece of an old rubber exercise band wrapped around the treadmill handle where the clamp goes on to keep the drink holder steady and protect the paint. It works perfect. I agree with other reviewers that small bottles or cans might fall out. I ended up tilting my cage just slightly so that gravity keeps the drink leaning back toward the base of the cup holder. This was my third try to find something that worked. Wish I found this one first. Now I have to figure out how to get motivated to get on the treadmill.

OK with tweaking
I ordered this with high hopes for the quick release function but was soon let down. The jaws don't open wide enough to get over the handlebar (I have standard 25.4mm bars) unless you screw out the quick release clamp almost all the way. You then need to screw in the mechanism but the tab is pretty small and hard to get any leverage with just your fingertips to really snug it up tight before you close/lock the tab. The result was a grip that was not tight enough to hold a full water bottle steady without the whole cage rotating downward - most annoying. I took it off since it was more trouble than it was worth. I was going to sell it on Ebay then had a brainstorm. I happened to have some cushy foam double-sided Scotch tape in my desk so I cut off a strip of that and wrapped it around the handlebar where I was going to put the clamp. I then used an adjustable crescent wrench to get leverage on the quick release tab so I could snug it up really tight. THEN once the tab was closed and locked everything held firm and I can ride without the bottle slippage. This of course defeats the quick-release aspect of it but that's ok since I like having the water bottle right at my fingertips and the cage holds a Klean Kanteen 27 oz. bottle firmly without bouncing or slipping. If I had to to it over again I probably would have ordered the Avenir clamp-on bottle cage instead but this has worked out ok after my tweaking. Useless as a true quick-release due to the issues described but ok as a semi-permanent mount cage after the tweaking. 3 stars, middle of the road.

Great range available on the clamp size. Worth the cost.
My wife and I both use this bottle cage as there are no mounting holes for conventional cages. Mine is fitted to the handlebar, my wife's to the stem. Rock solid fit, two completely different sizes. Great product.

Great value-for-money bottle cage for all purposes
My previous cage, one of the slightly-malleable metal varieties broke after over a year of use, and this was one of the cheapest looking sturdy ones. It's been really good so far, and I would definitely recommend it. It holds cans very well, and the wrap-around section keeps them sturdy. It holds bottles (tried up to 800ml, but with the standard 3" base of 500mls, the manufacturer seems to claim 0.7-1.0L on "tall but narrow" bottles ) also very well due to the high placement of the wrap around. Despite it being plastic, it's a thick / dense sort, so weirdly I trust it more than the old thin metal one. It DID however, come adjusted in the" handle-bar mount" configuration. The quick process to detach the adapter and turn it into a normal bottom-frame cage required an exceptionally small hex (4mm) I didn't happen to have; so keep this in mind if ordering as a frame cage.

Very badly designed, doesn't work properly
Looks OK to begin with, but on closer examination this has been really badly engineered. The clip material is slippery so it doesn't grip. They provide a horrid little bit of rubber which is supposed to help but it's not up to the job. The quick-release clamp design is one of the worst examples of "drag and drop engineering" I have ever seen. The basic principle of the clamp is OK but the shape has not been properly designed so it's a pig to screw up, then the quick-release part does not apply enough force/movement to get a proper grip. So the drinks holder ends up sagging loosely on the handlebars. As an engineer I have taken it apart and replaced the clamp end with a socket head 50mm M5 stainless steel screw, which can be tightened using an Allen key, but they have not designed the lower end correctly either so the screw does not fit properly through the slot at the bottom, which needs to be enlarged - made wider and longer. Overall, it looks as though someone slapped this designed together in a spare half hour but nobody's ever spent the necessary time and effort to get it right before shovelling it out to the punters. I guess the calculation is, make a quick profit, less a percentage for those who can be bothered to send it back for refund. Not impressed.
