Pretty to look at
I don't want to blast this thing, but it does have some flaws which might not be readily apparent. I absolutely loved the look of this thing on my bike, but ended up replacing it with a more conventional cage for two reasons. One, is that smaller diameter bottles tend to fly out of the thing, and the cage's two "buttons" hit each other at a certain point when you try to bend it to accommodate this. People who ride gently, or ride on only the smoothest surfaces may never experience this. As for me, I'm tired of having to stop and go chasing my water bottle. The second thing is of greater importance. The reason I had been using landfill-clogging PETE water bottles in the first place, is that my Green Canteen metal bottle was too long to fit. The high positioning of the retaining buttons on this style of cage make it more difficult to fit longer water bottles, because of clearance with the bike's frame. In other words, the design of this cage more severely limits the angle from which you can insert the bottle. A conventional cage like thePlanet Bike 6.2 mm Welded Aluminum Bicycle Water Bottle Cage , which I bought as a replacement, accepts taller bottles due to the fact it extends from the bottom of the cage as opposed to the top. Especially those with smaller bike frame sizes might want to consider this.

Yay cage!
I put two of these on my Trek 850 and haven't been disappointed. They've been great to hold everything from water bottles to dunkin' donuts coffee cups (note, I recently moved to the NE and am not particularly fond of DD coffee, but everyone here goes nuts for it. To be honest, I don't even enjoy holding their cups, which is why I'm so happy that my bike doesn't mind it). Of the three different water bottles I've placed in these cages all have fit very snugly - I've no fear that any of them will pop out when I'm riding over gravel, potholes, or bumps in the road. They're attractive, light weight, and economical. If you need a replacement, then buy these sucka's for your gnarly ride. Take note, however, if your bike doesn't already have the hardware for a bottle cage, you'll have to purchase that too (and, in all likelihood, drill holes into your frame) as these sweet babies don't come with any bolts.

I haven't lost my water yet
When I originally bought this cage I was hoping that it would fit myCamelBak Podium 21-Ounce Bottle , but unfortunately the bottle was a bit too wide. I still use my CamelBak daily, but just not while riding. Instead I've resorted to just refilling a standard pop top water bottle. The cage was easy and quick to install and holds my water bottle securely. I'm sure you could spend more, but when this works just fine, why would you? And maybe it's just because I'm new to biking, but it being advertised as having a "Bombproof design" kinda scares me and makes me feel good all at the same time?

Holds bottle securely, won't last.
I have had two of these and both broke after about 5k to 10k miles. For the casual cyclist this is probably fine, but if you are some one who bikes a lot you are better of getting something a little sturdier. To be fair to planet bike, there is a trade off between reliability and how securely the bottle is hold. This cage is designed so it is split down the middle enabling it to snugly hold bottles of slightly varying sizes. The trade of is that the holder will break sooner. If you want a "split down the middle" holder you are probably better of getting one made of a more forgiving material such as plastic or steel.

Does not hold 12 oz bottles real well
This bottle cage is in-expensive and durable but versatile it is NOT. I attempted to ride with a 12 oz bottle (various name brand ones you buy at the store), but it does not grip it, so with a small bump, the bottle falls out from the bottom. I then switched to a larger 20 oz refillable bottle, and now it has a tight fit and has not fallen out yet. And doesn't look like it will fall out ever. I guess you can call this a "green" bottle cage cuz it has now forced me to forget using store bought bottled water!

Great cages, while they lasted...
I purchased two of these cages for my father's bike. He used them and loved them since he got them, but during a ride (we were together) just 7 months later, one of his cages came apart at the mounting bracket welds. He was left with a bottle and half of the cage in his hand. The mounting bracket was still mounted to the bike. We pitched the cage and he put the bottle in his back jersey pocket for the rest of the 50 miles, but what a bummer this was. This cage saw light use, too, as he rides a couple of times a week. These cages didn't even get as much use as some on my bike would. Moral of the story, for $7 bucks a piece, buy something that is going to last instead of this. You can find full carbon bottle cages on ebay for 20-25 shipped for the pair and they will last a lot longer than these will.

but I bent it right back into place and it's still working as good as it did
Had it on my bike for 4 years and a couple of months before I finally messed up and put my foot on it and accidentally bent it...but I bent it right back into place and it's still working as good as it did! This cage has held my 750ml KOR water bottle (though it was a tight fit at first, but hey, it bends!), Starbucks coffee plastic mugs and paper cups, gatorade and powerade bottles (the smaller ones, not the 32 oz. lot), etc. on a daily basis for 4 long years. I have nothing but praise for this little thing.

Pretty fragile, but it works
This is a good, functional water bottle holder. It is lightweight and practical. But the decorative plastic pieces are pretty darn fragile. They broke within a couple of weeks on my bike, and I don't abuse my bike or go offroad. I must have hit or bumped it against something, but I can't imagine what. It wasn't a crash or anything, probably just while parked at a city bike rack. A bit of a disappointment, but it works.
