Unchanged for a reason

It's pretty simple really. Pony has made these clamps before I ever started woodworking in Jr. high school, and I see no changes in their design since then. If you clamping a project even remotely important, buy 4 of these clamps. I usually buy 4 foot black pipes to go with them, but that depends on what your needs are. Nothing is more useless to me than too short a clamp, and nothing quite as cumbersome as too long a clamp, so decide what your needs are before you buy. These are simple to put together and work every single time. Unfortunately, I recently bought a competitors set of clamps that were very high quality made, but the design was nearly useless for me in the shop. The clamp head would slip off because this design was not threaded. No big deal? Try working with them during glue up! So then the choice was clear. Just order the right clamps from Amazon and be done. These will last and perform as long as you need them.

Good design

Much more substantial than some others I have used. Professional grade. I mostly use them for Dowling boards together. I ended up purchasing six of them on 3 foot and 4 foot pipe I bought pipe splicer’s so I can stretch them out if need be.

Still fairly good

I had to run a 3/4” pipe tap (not something everyone has handy) through one to get the pipe threaded in. They’re not the quality they used to be when manufactured in USA. They seem to work ok so far.

Good product, but get some clamp pads, too

I built a shed recently, making the door from tongue-and-groove decking boards. Before I could attach the 2x4 braces I needed to clamp the tongue-and-groove planks together. To fit big tools in the shed this door is 3-1/2' wide, so I needed a couple of big clamps. Two of these Jorgensen fixtures, plus a pair of 5' black pipes, did the trick quite nicely. A few useful tidbits: - The threaded black pipe recommended for use with these clamps comes with black grease to lubricate and deter corrosion. Clean this off before attaching the clamps so you won't mess up your wood. - I strongly recommend getting a set of rubber clamp pads when you order your clamp fixtures. You only need one set for two fixtures. Don't gouge up your wood. - The screw clamp fits into the orange sliding flat surface with a steel pin. One of mine came out, and I had to go get a hammer to re-assemble the clamp. I deducted one star for this, but it was just annoying rather than a fatal flaw. - Black pipe typically comes in sizes from 1' to 5'. Shop for the pipe before buying the clamp fixtures if you need more than 5'. The fixtures take up a good half foot themselves, so 4' pipe wouldn't have worked with my 3-1/2' door. Bottom line: an essential tool if you're trying to build something big. Recommended.

Time tested and reliable

I've been using these clamps for over 50+ years and they are still my go-to clamp for metal and wood projects. Recently picked up another 10 to go with the 50 or so I already had. Price of black and galvanized pipe is going up, but the simple versatility of these clamps makes it easy to make reasonably priced clamps of whatever length I need from 1 foot to 20 foot.

Nothing on this pipe clamp measures 3/4 inch

hole diameter is not 3/4 inch, absolutely useless when i measure the clamp and get different hole diameters. no idea what pipe to use. will be returning

les meilleur

j'ai environ 200 serre-joints. les 100 premier sont de 6 marque différent. puis j'ai découvert celle ci alors j'ai avec le temps acheté 100 de ceux-ci et je les utilise en premier et quand les autre model finissent pas briser je les remplace par ceux-ci. que du bonmheur!!!!

Have purchased a few of these previously - bought these for my brother-in-law as a gift. Handy for woodworking/ laminating - but u need your own rods.
