More flow than expected from reviews.
The media could not be loaded. These put out more flow than many reviewers lead me to believe. I have one of these in a 55 gal standard tank and it is a little much for the fish I have in there (black skirt tetras and tiger barbs). I was getting some waste laying out in the back right corner, the opposite side from my HOB filter, and wanted something to increase the flow enough to move the waste, but not the sand bed. This does that job well, but now my fish mostly stay away from that current. Since I got two, I put one in a 45 gal wide tank where there are some faster swimmers, they don't mind it at all and it gets the waste out of the low flow corner in that tank as well. These do seem reverse rotation fairly often as others have pointed out. I honestly would have bought lower flow pumps if these had not been priced so low. The suction cups seem to work very well. My only complaint is that the pump cannot be mounted so that flow is parallel to the mounting surface. In other words, you can't mount it to the back wall of your tank and point it to the back corner. From the suction cup ring and ball mount, you get almost 45 degrees in any direction. I couldn't mount this where I had imagined I would. The people claiming that they needed two of these for a 40 gal tank were clearly doing something completely different than I am. I would have thought this would be way too much for a tank that size. I made a short video, the pump gets switched on at about the 3 sec mark, you can see the fake plants on the right start to move and then some waste swirls up along the front in the middle. I have an acrylic deflector around the HOB filter that this pump is mounted to since I couldn't mount it on the back wall and point it at the back corner as I had hoped. This pump puts out a little more flow than this video really shows, but you can see that the sand bottom doesn't get disturbed.

One was more powerful than the other
The front opening is quite large, I’m definitely going to have to add something or else my curious bettas might lose their life. The first one I installed was not as crazy powerful as the second but I’m okay with that. I have a 40gal long breeder and it was powerful enough to blow completely across the tank. It’s fun to see them swimming against the currents though. May want to be careful with smaller fish/babies

This wave maker really works!
I was soooo surprised to find that such an inexpensive gadget could be so very effective in keeping my 55 gallon aquarium clean. I have 2 very large pleco's that obviously love the food I feed them (Bug Bites Pleco formula) anyway, they defecate long strands of fecal matter and I was scooping twice a day in order of maintaining a clean environment. Also, housed in this aquarium is a very large Oscar. At first I only used 1 of the wave makers and I had it positioned lower down in my aquarium thinking it would help blow the fecal waste up into my 2 filtration pumps. I really didn't see a difference. So, I looked at a few Youtube videos and learned the wave maker was more effective placed higher up in the aquarium, I used both devices and have them located between my 2 filters and approx. 7" from the top. The cord is just the right length. I hope this product proves its longevity. It's quiet and it simply works!!!!

It works as well as what it costs
I have a 60g cube display and a 40g DIY sump. The sump is sectioned into 3 areas by smoked glass with three baffles after the skimmer area and 1 after the refugium area before the final pump area. I bought the twin pack so I could cheaply put one in the skimmer area and one in the refugium area in the constant on position to keep detritus and other gunk from settling and hopefully getting it into one of the various filtration methods I use instead of settling out of the water column in my sump. The short review is these are currently working sufficiently at that job. The details are, if I had a bigger fish budget I would buy a better pump. They have been in place about a month with no degradation in flow. The flow appears FAR less than advertised though. I have had high end pumps with similar rating that push far more water. I used money other places getting this set up started so I felt this was a place I could go cheaper since it is not totally necessary and more of an extravagance. I am not disappointed. The pumps have not died. They have not became un-suctioned from the baffle wall. They are constant on so I cant speak to the reverse flow I read about. The impeller is on a metal rod which may have eventual issues. This pump is not a long term solution in my opinion, it is a short term fix for a place where budget is lacking. I might even buy these two to get a start on flow in a smaller display tank until I could save enough to buy one descent pump, but they would never be part of a work horse crew in my opinion. For the price I feel they would be a decent 2nd string or back for a failed pump or a good alternative placement in an area that was not crucial to life support long term. They work well enough for what they cost, but there are better options out there. Unfortunately they cost significantly more and some come with a whole different set of issues. This pump set works as well as you can expect for the price and is a solid temp fix IMO.
