better have multiple dewalt batteries
works great as advertised. however it burns through batteries fast if your doing more than few boards your gonna need at least 2 or 3 batteries depending on their size, in order to run continuously. if you really don't need or want the mobility, then i would get the power cable one; especially if you don't have the batteries or want to spend the money on them. while this product does work great it takes time and effort if you plan to plane hundreds of boards it might be worth investing in the table top versions

Works good for a battery powered planer
Although maybe not as powerful as a corded model, it does a good job for general work. Fairly easy on batteries. Would buy again.

Worth the money for sure
I got this planer because I am building a large deck. I have used this with and against the grain on wet and frozen pressure treated wood. It has worked really good for me. It lasts approximately 1/2 of an hour for my 6AH battery per my estimation. I got a 10 pack of new blades and have flipped the original ones once so far, you get 2 cutting edges per blade. They are the thin blades - I had to do a lot of research to figure out which ones they were since I ordered them the same time as the plainer. I do recommend this plainer.

I probably should have opted for the corded version
The first thing that pops into mind with this is "was this worth purchasing?". My answer to that would be Yes and No. In terms of quality, it's Dewalt and it does not disappoint in that regard. I can't say I'm extremely happy with the end results of what I used it for (reducing the thickness of live edge slabs), but that's mostly on me for not being as careful as I should have been when it came to bowing in the slabs, which was on me and not the planer itself. But, the one thing that I was disappointed with was the battery performance. To be fair, I really should have thought through this purchase a bit more. I have at least half a dozen other 20V Dewalt power tools, and all of them perform really well with the batteries I have - I have one 8ah and four of the base 2ah batteries. Heck, I even have the full sized chain saw that I use the 8ah in, and that thing took down a medium sized tree AND chopped it into pieces we could carry on one charge. But using a planer is a different beast, especially considering I bought this for two large black walnut slabs (72"x30" and 72"x19") and I was taking the thickness down from 2" to 1.5". The density of the slabs is apparently really high, and the small batteries lasted less than 5 minutes of making small passes, and the 8ah was out within 15 minutes. With one charge on all of them, that was about 10% of the amount of planing I needed to do, then I had to put on the chargers (of which I have only two), and wait for them to cool down then charge. Took around 6 charges and 3 days overall to get the slabs trimmed down to the 1.5" that I needed them to be. Doing a similar job with the old corded that died not too long ago would only take about a half of a day to get through. So, OVERALL, I like it. Had I been doing a small project like I normally do, I would be perfectly content with it. If I end up having to do another large table like what I'm building now with black walnut and needing to shave off a half an inch of material, I will definitely be buying myself a corded version to get me through it faster. I would imagine this tool would be far better suited to being in their 60V Flex battery line, just because of that.

Little pricey, but a nice piece tool.
I think they’re a little pricey, but it works very well better than others I’ve had.

Alignment problems
I will start by saying I love Dewalt tools. I have everything from drills to lawn mowers and have had no issues for years, but this tool has failed. I had a similar problem to some other reviewers on here in that the blades and/or bottom plates were badly out of alignment right out of the box. The first pass I did with the planer set on "0" took 1mm off of one side and nothing off the other. The 2nd pass dug in so badly on the left side it shattered one of the blades and bent the blade holder. I had no choice but to return it. I may try another one. Hopefully this was just a one-off manufacturing error.

Works, but clogs easy and eats batteries
Bought to smooth planks harvested from fallen trees with a chainsaw to make signs. Raw planks are no more than 12” wide, lengths up to 48”. After some practice to get the feel for pressure control, does a GREAT job leveling the surface no matter how rough it is to start. Using without a dust collector (doesn’t come with the tool plus wanting to shoot shavings into a garden for mulch), it clogs up every 10 passes or so. Using 2amp hour batteries (came with my drill), lasts about 15-20min of constant running which is usually enough to process 1 side of the plank. See some 5amp batteries in my future.

Good Tool
I wouldn't say it's lightweight but it is very well balanced and comfortable to hold even with a 60v flexvolt battery. I use it for fairly rough stock removal and it's a game changer not having a cord to deal with. The dust port clogs easily which is not great (without vacuum suction connected) and I'm not sure how it would perform planing door edges or something else where finished surface matters as it leaves rough knife marks and snipes badly. This could be resolved with adjustments possibly, I haven't tried. For what I'm using it for, I love it. Worth the money.

Excelente Dewalt nuevamente

A useful tool that is a secondary staple for any serious carpenter.
I run mostly 20V Dewalt Tools and this is another in the line up that doesn't disappoint. It has an exhaust port on the side that could be hooked up to a vacuum (if you're doing more residential and don't want shavings everywhere). Besides that it has the same safety as the circular saw. This type of tool does lack a bit of power the corded versions do, not a big surprise. The ease of use for not having to run a cord makes this x1000 more useful and versatile. I've used this on fences to trims and it's a great weapon in the tool arsenal.
