Sturdy, adjustable hole punch

I got this hole punch to replace an identical bought 20 years ago that finally rusted and became unusable. It's a workhorse. My old one punched though more sheets than the average unit with no dulling to the punch heads over those 20 years. One warning: Take care not to accidentally bend the adjustable arms that hold the paper, or they won't retract back into place properly. (It's not easy to do, but once it's done, it's not fixable.)

Very Good Three-Hole Punch

This was a very good replacement for an older, worn out punch also from Swingline (could not find our older model anymore). This one, though, is a very good replacement. It is heavy enough not to slide around when being used. It has adjustable punch holes/patterns; and, it has a single paper guide on the left to help keep pages correctly aligned/straight. The only thing missing is the second page guide (on the right). Having two adjustable guides connected together meant that the pages always were centered with the selected punch pattern. Otherwise, no problems, no worries, and I would recommend this Swingline model to others.

The very best manual hole punch for professional, neat document binders.

In my job, I help hospital clients set up binders of required testing results, for review by regulatory/accrediting agencies. In my opinion, neatness counts in this effort, and there's nothing more frustrating and sloppy-looking that manuals full of test reports that have mispunched holes. This device has two features that ensure neat results. First, the paper guides at either side work together to ensure that the paper is always centered in the punch; and second, the locations of the punches are fixed, so they cannot go out of alignment. Although not the least expensive hole punch, the is far and away the best manual hole punch for creating professional and neat document binders.

quality lacking

I needed a 3-hole punch for medical charts, I have 3-ring binders with holes at the top of the page. Hole punches designed for this tend to be on the expensive side. So I was excited to see this one, by a reputable brand, for such a good price. But you know what they say about price -- you get what you pay for. I had to adjust the outer two punches to match my ring binders. The set screws are pretty tight, almost too tight. Got one side realigned properly and tightened down. The other screw.... broke when I tried to retighten it in the correct position. That is, the head twisted right off. I was considering putting in a claim and sending it back, but didn't want to wait the extra week that this would incur, so I set out to fix it. I used epoxy glue to fix the hole punch in the proper position. Now it is non-adjustable, but it works. One other issue -- the hole punches don't bite all the way through paper. None of the three will cut out the holes all the way. they mostly stamp an outline of the hole which will finish tearing out when I push the paper into the binder.

Met my needs

It has always been my weird dream to buy a three whole puncher because I would always have to go organize my binders with a teachers (sometimes they didn’t have one) or at home I would have to ask my aunt for one upstairs all the time. I am satified that you can change the measurement so it is not at a set punch

Cuts through thick stacks of pages like butter!

This little hole puncher is sturdy and will cut through 50 and 100 sheet stacks like butter. Really sharp punches and a hefty lever really help make big jobs go quickly! There is a large removeable rubber punch tray which catches all the small circles of paper on the bottom. Occasionally it has come loose, but I think that's because I used it too enthusiastically! Much better on hands and wrists than those flimsy 3-hole-punches you can fit in your back pocket. Does take up more space and is more weighted, but for me, using it on a desk, it's perfect.

Okay

I was looking for the exact one at work and it looked like it but when I got it, unfortunately it was not. This is probably great for a business but for home use its rather heavy and hard to punch down if just using a few pages. Its great for an office just not for my home.

VERY Sturdy Product

I just wanted a simple 3-hole punch. At the same time, I wanted something that would last and wasn't plastic. Well this is definitely the right hole punch. Made all of metal - except the "confetti-catcher" fastened to the base which makes tossing the "holes" easy. But of course most hole punchers have this feature. I love the sturdy feel of the unit and it was very easy to punch through MANY sheets of paper. This hole puncher will last for MANY years - a smart buy on my part!

NOT WORTH PURCHASING

Received the hole puncher with rust on the rods that punctures the paper. The build seemed to be solid until arrival. Quite disappointing. You'd expect the build quality to be much better considering the price.

Poor Quality Control

To be fair, I have no idea how well it punches paper, because it arrived with the third punch rod locked in the down position and I have never been able to release it or therefore use it. :(
