Good product

Bought this for my mom as a Christmas present. She is a big tea drinker so i bought this so she can boil her water. I'm sure there are other uses for this as well. Pot heats water up pretty fast (a lot faster than the stove top). Item has both a hand pump and a button to pump the water out (button also has a lock). Pot holds a good amount of water (3 3/5 liters, just under a gallon i believe). The only downside to this item is that it has no thermometer. With tea, certain temperatures have to be used so you don't get a bitter taste. Temps. very between different types of tea. Over all good product, great price and easy to use.

An excellent product

Works very well. Only a few complaints. I would still buy it again. 1. The new unlock button, requiring two button pushes to dispense water. Not very convenient, in fact down right irritating. 2. The older models had a magnetic connection for the line cord. It was a much easier to use, very nice feature, sorry they dropped it. 3. Buttons seem a little hard to push. The plastic will probably crack before too long. followup: It lasted years. I replaced it with an identical model. The first only failed because I let the slam down shut. After years, the screws that hold the top together gave out. Don't let to top slam shut every day for years and it should be great!

Dual dispension urn

This is one of the very few dual dispensing hot urns. I was looking for something that is insulated and I can dispense without electricity. It works great. Takes 37W to keep warm and 700W to boil. I has the unit for 30 days non-stop use. The stainless steal lid started to rust on the inside around the screws. We replaced it for with the new one. However the replacement had the manual pump broken out of the box. Now we are waiting for the replacement of the replacement. I would still stick with this model, because it really worked well the first 30 days...

I am putting a kitchenete in at my parents house where I visit and am a die hard tea drinker. I researched several of these type of hot water dispensers and finally landed on the Sunpentown. So far I am very impressed with the product for the price. I have used it at least twice a day for over a month and no problems what so ever. When I unpacked it I was ready for a chemical smell after reading the reviews but they must have changed something because there was no odor at all. It has not leaked at all. I will check back in six months and see if it still working as well.

Nice

This is a simple machine that gets the job done. It is rather large but that's because it can hold so much water. A full container will provide me with 6 fills of my coffee press (8-10 cups). The only thing that I didn't like is that the machine gets really hot to the touch. I understand that it is stainless steel but it should be more insulated. It's not hot enough to burn your had, just to shock you a little if you graze it. I can easily put my hand to it and let it sit there so it's not a hazard. All in all, I do recommend this product for the price :)

wonderful

Our college son got this for college - during the summer he brought home this hot water dispenser and my husband and I were hooked on it. My husband makes French Press coffee every morning and I enjoy tea. Having hot water right away was wonderful. We would use it all day and refill it every evening. We loved the convenience of it. So when our son got ready to head back to college we had to have it. We never had a problem with our sons machine but our new one did quit working after a month. We called and had great customer service take care of the whole thing quickly. We have not had a single issue with this replaced one. Our son had an older model and there are a few things we miss from that one. There was a laser light of sorts that came out of the spout. There also was a beeping when you hit the unlock button and dispense button. Neither of these is missed if you never had it. The nice new feature is the dual pump. You can now take the unit away from the plug and use on a table to serve hot water. This machine is wonderful if you plan to use it everyday or even just during gatherings. You will enjoy its usefulness.

Horrible chemical stink

This could have a really good product, even though it doesn't have the features of the Zojirushi models. The main attraction of this one, which is not clearly stated, is that the interior liner, where the water is, is stainless steel. All the Zojirushi units have non-stick interiors, and I am concerned about the toxicity of the non-stick. BTW, it's hard to find that out - I had to go to the Zojirushi web site and see their comparison of all models. But this Sunpentown water heater, as it turns out, is even worse. It has a very strong offensive smell that smells toxic. Of course I don't know what it is that makes the smell, so I have no way of knowing just how toxic it is, but I definitely would not trust it. I ran several batches of water through it to see if the smell would go away, and it did not. It even turned the water brownish one time. There is no way I would trust this to heat water for my family. Unfortunately, there do not appear to be ANY water heater dispensers that meet the basic non-toxic requirement of stainless steel or glass interior (i.e. NOT non-stick) and no apparent chemical smells. Obviously I am returning this one.

Just Right!

Very simple and straight forward to use. The pot inmediately starts boiling the water when it's plugged in. Then there are 3 buttons you can use: lock, dispense and re-boil. The manual pump at the top comes in handy when I use it on coffee table. The built-in Lazy Susan makes it easy to spin around or roll on the counter. The stainless steel finish blends nicely with the rest of the kitchen, I find pastels and flowery decals a little hard to get used to. Cons: Water level is hard to read. Must use inner-container cleaner since it cannot be removed and rinsed under a sink.
