Game changer

Wish I had invested in this sooner! The legs are a bit unruly, especially if working on carpet, but makes hemming jobs so much easier and quicker.

Why didn’t I get this sooner??!?

I’m a costumer so I sew a lot. This makes hemming so much easier and precise! You need a dress form to use and is especially helpful if you are draping vs using a pattern.

Disappointed

I remember decades ago there was something like this that you could mark a hem with. This is not nearly as good as that was. I couldn't use it by myself, which was why I bought it. But my friend couldn't do it with me either. She would squeeze the bulb, but sometimes it came out in a clump, and other times she had to squeeze it several times. I returned it and for about a tenth of the price I got a hem ruler that works fine.

Great chalk marker!

Okay, so this is definitely not the best chalk marker out there, but it is one of the cheapest and does what it needs to! The chalk does spill on every ten puffs or so and can get really messy if you’re not carful. But, the chalk is great and doesn’t wear off easily, and when filled as much as possible I was able to mark around 3 or 4 hems before refilling. If you work in a costume or sewing shop like I do then you might need a better one after using this for a while, but for personal use this would be fantastic! So far I’ve marked hems at and above knee level for people between 5’ and 6’2” and it’s worked well.

Cheap piece of junk

For the price I paid, I expected something that looked professional and that might last a while. This is close to impossible to assemble...the instructions are minimal..I guess OK but trying to slide plastic pieces together is a real tricky thing. Debating returning. By the way, it is called DELUXE! HA HA

Did exactly what I needed it to do

I had a multi-layer chiffon dress that needed hemming. The dress was originally dragging on the floor and uneven on one side, and the skirt layers are very full. If I were to try and hem it by folding and pinning, I would lose my mind trying to get everything even! With this hem marker, all you have to do adjust it where you want off of the floor and squeeze, and it does a line. For the fabric I used, it went through all 3 layers! It creates a line, and you fold and press along that line, and do your narrow rolled hem from there. When I was done, the hem looked so straight! Well worth it.

Self marking hem device

I'm not an expect seamstress and I needed help marking a hem on a dress I needed to be shortened. Decided to buy this to try to avoid paying some one else. It worked pretty well for me and the dress has a flared skirt that made it a little more difficult, but I managed to mark it appropriately! It works fine!

Pretty good

It would be helpful to have access to different coloured chalks. I bought this for marking hems on wedding dresses that come to me for alteration, by the white chalk does not show up at all. I have used it for hemming curtains, though, and it worked pretty well.

This product is poorly made.

The three legs make it impossible to locate the chalk dispenser where it is needed. I sent one back. I am too tired to go through that process again. I will just throw it out.
