Tough to beat at this price point
I can honestly say that this has become my new go to ball for the foreseeable future. I’m a 18+ handicapper, but hey I play weekly and I enjoy it. I won’t name drop, but I typically play the top tour balls. I decided to try these Wilson’s out because I bought em for my 11 y/o… and I am impressed. Off the tee they feel great; long and straight. Hybrids and irons were all the same; good feel and predictable ball flight-med/high. Off the wedges I say the ball feels good but don’t expect your levels of spin. I don’t typically spin the ball enough for it to back up, so these played perfectly fine for me- drop, hop, small roll out. Perfect. Off the putter face you get a nice little “click” with a good roll. I may have just saved myself a lotta money by switching to these. What ultimately led me to this conclusion? The last three rounds I’ve played with these balls I’ve scored the best rounds I’ve played in a long time and, always the and… and I’m still on the first sleeve of balls. No lost balls, and one finally wore enough to become my next water ball. Give ‘em a shot, you’ll like em a lot.

They didn’t improve my game, but still like how they hit.
The ball isn’t the problem. It’s a great ball.

Great for beginners
Let’s be completely honest here, as a beginner, you will lose balls. This is completely inevitable. That said, do you really want to spend a lot of money of Golf Balls? Short answer, no. These were recommended to me by my golf coach as a good starter ball. From my very limited experience with them, I have no complaints. The feel, is significantly better than the practice balls at the golf range, and although I do struggle with keeping my shots completely straight, I have found to play well with these. I feel I need to reiterate that I am not a pro or even close to being one. I am a recreational player who is still taking classes and loves playing the game. In all honesty, this is my second box and I will be purchasing more in the future. Hopefully, I will get to the point in which a box can last me more than one round of golf. Be on the look-out, for price drops, last time I purchased these they were at a great discount. Enjoy the course, cheers.

Good ball for the money
Great player for the money. Plays as well as much more expensive balls.

Control Freak
Remember this is a $1.00 ball before you trash it for not being equal to a $5.00 Pro V1. Pro V1 is still the "gold standard" in overall performance. I give away company-logoed Pro V1s to my clients. ("Brand" is image you know.) But I hit the Wilson Staff Zips -- mostly. I find I can "compress" a Zip very similarly to the Pro V1s. Both balls give me "control" to work the ball R to L. I am 67 years old and have a 9.9 USGA index. (I used to be a 6.2 "back in the day.") I find the Zip shallow dimple pattern produces penetrating carry that provides competitive distance to the Pro V1. I hit it about 250 these days, but the control helps me maintain a 67% FIR -- so I hit about 9-10 of the fairways of the 14 driving holes. Being in the fairway really helps you score. (Ask Phil.) The softer ball control effect also helps me hit my approach shots with more consistency. I can feel the ball stay on the iron face tat microsecond "longer" that makes all the difference in being able to "work” the ball R to L or H or L. I find the $5 Pro V1 "drops and stops" (as advertised) better than any ball including the $1 Zip, but the Zip does not roll forward far enough -- maybe another 3 feet or so instead of just 1 foot, but that is insignificant at my level of play. Don't forget that this IS amateur, recreational golf, not the US Open. (Another "Ask Phil.") Putting a softer ball is really important. I use an Odyssey with a soft insert. This give me -- guess what? - more control on the greens. I must add at this point that the Fatso 5.0 grip has reduced my 3-putts and is the best $25 I have spend on golf equipment since I spend $500 on 1-SW set of PING Eye 2's in 1988. Love those grandfathered box groves. All in all, FOR THE MONEY Zips are a great deal. DISCLAIMER. I like the $2 each Wilson Staff Duos better (guess what? even more control and closer to a Pro V1) and just Sunday I found a Srixon Q Star SL on #8. After shooting big fat 44 on the front with a Pro V1, I played it on the back and shot 39 that coulda, shoulda been a 37 if the 2 lip outs would have fat lipped the other way. I think the marketing folks have us pretty well micro-segmented now. You what you are willing to pay for. It's all a matter of knowing your game and then deciding how much you want to spend - $1 (Zip), $2 (Duo), $3 (Many), $4 (Many), or $5 (Pro V1). Hope this helps you “get your game!”

I really like these balls
I really like these balls. The price was attractive at around £10 + 8 for postage (but they seem to have gone up since then!). Even so, for a 24 ball pack they're still goo value. OK, so what's good? well, they're very soft feel and they seem quite straight and long off of the Driver and Woods. From the mid irons you get a lovely flight (when hit well) and some good distance. As usual with a two-piece ball with a surlyn/ionomer cover, they are hard wearing too. They have the older dimple pattern which seems to have been abandoned by Wilson a couple of years back but I much prefer it to the standard hex and dimple patterns used in most brands now. The only downside is that the cover and 2 piece construction means that short iron/wedge shots can lack the spin they need to hold greens or produce enough check when you need it. However, for this price, that's something I'll live with!

Check carefully; Anything you order could be alot different than what's delivered!!
I've used Wilson balls for years and I was looking forward to ordering more of the same. When you click on the Zip box, you see an example of what I thought was inside the sleeve; the W/S (red and white) logo followed by the word Staff. Although the outside Zip package was sent to me, the balls inside were different; they just had the written words "Wilson Staff". I mentioned this to Amazon but have heard nothing since I sent them a message two weeks ago. Not happy!! BTW, I've used the delivered balls and they are no where near the quality of what I was anticipating.
