Makes A Perfect Egg-McGuffin-Size Egg
Though I have expensive stainless steel, copper-bottom pans, my favorite pans are my cast iron ones. They cook beautifully, go from stovetop to oven seamlessly, and are a breeze to clean. (BTW, I use a chainmail type scrubber that is perfect!) I also love my Egg McGuffins, so when I saw this tiny cast iron pan, I thought I would give it a try. Perfect! The cooked egg is the perfect size to slip onto a toasted muffin. As it's cooking, I sprinkle a tablespoon of grated cheddar cheese on top of the egg. When it's ready, it's extremely easy to slide out of the pan onto a muffin on which I've placed sliced tomatoes in replacement for Canadian Bacon. The pan cleans up with an easy wipe-out with a paper towel and it's ready for next time.

Really really small
Too small even for one large egg

Excellent Lodge quality, in a minimal size
In terms of quality, little can be said: it is as perfect Lodge cast iron skillet, as any other in the family. However, buyers should keep in mind that the size is really small! For reference: an average size chicken egg takes up all the available space.

Mini skillet
Just what I asked for . But I now realize that the pan I want is just under 5" . I use this for my egg sandwiches . I like them on a burger bun and these little pans make eggs perfect for that . A little over 4" is what I want . This one is a little over 3" and it works great .

Great for egg McMuffin
I ordered one of these and received it in one day! It says it's seasoned already a ready to use. The first time I used it my egg stuck to the pan. I washed it with just hot water made sure there was no egg left in it. To reseason my pan I filled it about half way with vegetable oil and put it on the small burner on about half way to heat it up. I allowed it to get to just when it started to smoke then shut the burner off. I allowed it to cool down while still on the burner and repeatef about four times. The next day I did the same thing and then using a lint free towel I wiped it out. The first egg I used came out without a hitch. The key to keeping it seasoned is to never use soap and to only use warm water while the pan isn't too hot. Works great with all the other cast iron pans I have.

The best pans I've ever owned
Updated Review: I see a ton of reviews that just show people treating and using their cast iron the wrong way so I'm here to set the record straight. If your pan comes and the surface finish is a little rough, that's fine! You have a few options. You can strip it down and re-season it (This is my recommendation. I never like to trust the factory seasoning), you can just use it the correct way and it will eventually come out smooth as butter, or you can give up right then and there and send in a 1 star review. #1- Follow the steps to season your pan, but do some google research! There are people out there that have used these things for their whole lives, and their grandparents used the same ones before them. If you season it correctly and care for it correctly, your pan will never die. #2- Slow heat!! This one is very important! Don't turn your burner to medium-high, throw a pat of butter down and spread some pancake mix. In the words of the illustrious South Park ski instructor, "You're gonna have a bad time". Start your heat on low, let your pan warm up evenly and then start to cook on it. #3- Regardless of what people say, unless you're seasoning your pan, there's no need for soap. It won't necessarily hurt (Lodge even says specifically just to avoid high amounts or strong soap) but you don't need it. Run your water in your sink on hot, rinse the pan off, wipe it with a brush, use a stove burner on low to dry the pan and, if you want, put a very very thin layer of oil (crisco is my preference, just wipe off any excess oil after you apply the thin layer) on the pan and you're good to go for next time. You won't die from anything you previously cooked on the pan. #4- If your pan cracks or has an issue, contact Amazon/Lodge and they will replace it.. These things are prone to damage in transit simply because it's cast iron. This isn't some stainless steel pan coming in the mail. If you hit the pan against something or it gets damaged in transit, just ask for a replacement instead of posting a poor review. (On that note, these pans are ground on the edge due to the casting process. If your edge is a little rusty, scrub it with some steel wool, season it and you'll be cooking in no time. I'll stand by these pans. I've treated mine right and they've been the best pans I've ever owned. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- As these reviews cover a variety of Lodge pan sizes, I'll post about all of the ones I have! I can't say enough how incredible cast iron pans are. They cook flawlessly, they clean up in under a minute and they're versatile! (I season them with a thin layer of Crisco and it works great every time). I use the 3.5 inch pan for eggs! A sliver of butter in the pan (while it's sitting in a larger pan for nice heat distribution and the ability to easily cover) on medium heat for a few minutes makes a great egg! The 6.5 and the 8 inch pans I use for a ton of different things but the tastiest thing is a nice warm skillet cookie! I use my 10.25 inch pan mainly for smaller single size dishes and (even better) pie! Melted butter and sugars in the pan to start and the pie comes right out! The fact that you can put them in the oven just opens so many doors for cooking! Cast iron is hands down my favorite and I can't wait to have them around my entire life!

It's cute
Now I knew it wasn't going to be small. But little smaller than I thought. Lol.. it's cute though my husband and I wanted to make our own pan cookie like you get from chili's so even though it's tiny we still made a small cookie it's about the size of a small person's hand

Nice for Entertaining.
I wanted a way to serve my breakfast hash for the holidays in a nice way. I baked a hash in these cast iron pans and it turned out great. The only tricky part is with baking them the handles are hot. I made make-shift Christmas mittens for the ends and it looked great. I'm not a great cook so no pics but it did taste good!

Awesome pan, just check the size before ordering...
I accidentally ordered the 3.5 inch. It's amazing, solid, heavy and well made, but can probably only fry a piece of garlic in it at a time(My fault for not checking). I may keep it next to my bed and use it as a weapon if necessary, or hang it on the wall as an ornament.

Good item arrived rusty
I am a fan of cast iron product and also knows that Lodge is a good brand but... the item will rust I understand but not rusted upon arrival. That means the coating they did is actually not doing its job or this item have been left on the shelf for ages, but still it shouldn't rust with the coating on. Sad but it happened so I need to return it...
