Use this a lot!
Roasting beef, with vegetables Slowly in a crock pot. Has a lot of grease and fat. This gets all the fat and grease out so you can make a gravy. Any kind of food that has oil, grease, or other this will take care of it.

Buy the 4 cup size
I have always wanted one of these so I bought it because it is a good brand and I have a lot of kitchen tools made by this company. If you are thinking about the 2 cup size spend just a tiny bit more and get the 4 cup.

No, a baster will not do the job! Haven’t had a grease/oil separator for a few years; and I don’t know why. This one will be kept safe,

Perfect for Thanksgiving
Idk how I made it to 43 without figuring this one out, but here we are. Thank you, cooking shows. I love this gadget! Way better than trying to ladle out the fat from the top. Time saver. Made for perfect dripping gravy from our turkey. Loaded up the base of the roasting pan with veggies, bouillon, fresh herbs, lemon rinds and water, and cooked the turkey on a rack nestled into the pan (breast side down). The bird steamed itself tender. But then the gravy!! I loaded up all the drippings and what was left of the veggies, squished them down in the upper part (sort of a juicing if you will), let it rest for 10 mins to separate while I toasted up some butter and flour, and then poured the drippings into the pan, stopping short when I got to the oil. The gravy didn’t need any other seasoning. It was perfect as it was and delicious! Bonus, the dogs got a special fat treat on their food for the next few evenings. I opted for this model over the spout on bottom version, because I trust gravity and time will always wreak their havoc. I was worried the seal on bottom variety would fail eventually and it would be a pain to clean. With this model I was worried I’d get too much grease still in the pour, but it was clear when to stop pouring, and it was a breeze to clean. Bonus, I have an extra measuring cup between dripping uses. (I bought the 4 cup version.) This brand sealed the deal for me, as I have other devices from them and they are all built well and to last the test of time. This purchase will not disappoint!

Works perfectly
I have a smaller size fat separator and was looking for a larger one. I have purchased a few different kinds, including an expensive one from Pampered Chef. None of them worked well at all. I purchased this one because it was the same design as my smaller one and it works perfectly. It is a nice large size and is very easy to separate the fat. It is easy to clean.

Handle is Very Sturdy
These are amazing and work well to separate the fat for gravy. The handle is much better now and very sturdy. I actually bought another one as a back up.

Good!
I liked this fat separator and would recommend it to others. I suspected I would like it as I’ve had luck with other OXO products in the past. The spout plug keeps the fat in the main compartment so it reduces the amount that gets into your gravy, and the convenient storage spot in the strainer is nice to keep it together when it’s not doing it’s job plugging the spout. The spout was a little inconvenient to clean, but it is manageable. My previous separator (another brand which broke) was oval shaped, which I did prefer as it was easier to store. Overall, I like this product and would recommend it.

Great product!
I love that this separator has a strainer on top. I've even used it to strain broth, very helpful to remove a bit of the oil. Great that it can go in the dishwasher too. The only thing that's a bit tricky is keeping the spout clean. I find after I clean it sometimes it will still have oily residue inside. If you have some sort of cleaning brush that will get down in there it would be best.
