Third Time to Purchase OXO Good Grips Melon Baller
The OXO Good Grips Melon Baller is by far my favorite. I had left the last one I purchased at my other home and was delighted to find this one on Amazon. Delivery was prompt and the packaging was appropriate for the product delivered. I would buy this product again. The product is made in China and distributed by OXO International LTD, El Paso TX USA

Not just for melons!
I use this primarily for removing apple cores! Just a quick little turn and voila! So much easier than using a knife and safer too!

Perfect

We're eating fruit!
I can't tell you how many times I've purchased fruit at the grocery store but didn't feel like cutting it up right away. After unloading and putting away all the groceries, it's the last thing I want to do - especially because (pre- melon baller) it was a huge mess! Then, the fruit would go bad before we could even eat it! Whoops! So, I started buying the pre-cut fruit to save me time. That worked, but holy grocery bill! Enter: melon baller! This thing makes "cutting" fruit so simple and quick, I actually do it right away! Last week, we ate cantaloupe within minutes of returning from the grocery store. It's a miracle!

Oh wow I forgot I even got this
I remember it being super cute but small when I opened the package. I got it because I never seem to cut a Cantaloupe properly (his words, not mine) so I imagined scooping balls of Cantaloupe for lunches everyday, but sadly that did not materialize. It could have been user error, scooper error, or Cantaloupe error. But overall it's a nice piece for the collection. Not sure why my autotext is capitalizing Cantaloupe as if it is a proper noun. Have fun y'all.

Comfortable grip
Unlike other melon ballers this grip is actually very comfortable. My hand won’t get sore when tackling a giant watermelon.

3 stars = Too small for drop cookies, ice cream, meatballs + scoops' drainage holes problematic
TL;DR SUMMARY: 3 stars total = 5 stars for the solid build and materials I’ve come to expect from OXO (yay!), minus 1 star for the diminutive size of even the baller’s “large” scoop (i.e. IMHO, it’s too small for drop cookies, meatballs, or ice cream), and minus an additional 1 star for the drainage holes in both the large and the small scoop, as these holes shave off extra material from whatever you’re scooping (especially firmer stuff like … well … melons). Total: 3 stars. FULL REVIEW: While this melon baller offers the quality that we've all come to expect from OXO -- i.e. good metal; sturdy, ergonomic handle; well-balanced in the hand; etc. -- it also has two design issues that were deal-breakers for me, as follows: (1) First, as several other reviewers have mentioned, the drainage hole in the center of both the large and small ends of this melon baller scrape off extra material when the melon baller is used on firm items (melons included). (2) Second – having purchased this item on the strength of its Amazon product page claim that the melon baller does double-duty as a scoop for drop cookies, ice cream, or meatballs -- I was really bummed out to discover when the melon baller arrived that even its large scoop is much, much too small to be a credible cookie-, ice cream-, or meatball scoop. PRO TIP/HEADS-UP: Finally, a quick heads-up to anyone on the fence about ordering this melon baller: if you’re in the market for this item because you seek a multi-tasking kitchen tool that cores melons cleanly and is also handy at scooping drop cookies, ice cream, meatballs, etc., be aware not only of the impediments to these functions that Amazon reviewers have reported, but also that Amazon’s COVID-19 guidelines for this item indicate that it can't be returned -- even if you neither use it nor unseal its packaging, but instead just eyeball it to gauge its size when it arrives at your home. (Ask me how I know. …)

It works, it's comfortable it's sturdy.
Works as intended. Used on raw potatoes- infinitely more dense than a melon. Worked quite well, edges penetrated the potato flesh and the tool was comfortable in my hand. Grip was great and it was sturdy, no bending.
