Great Set from OTC, covers most domestic and Asian, besides Chrysler
I've used a lot of different balancer pullers and most of them are close enough to the same, they all have the same short comings. Or rather, they basically all work the same way. This one is not much different. The puller flange is shaped a little different, but ultimately works the same as any other. This works on most makes I've used it: Chevy, Ford, Toyota. Some Chevys I have to use a long bolt to get the balancer started on the crank a bit, when installing, before the OTC installer will catch threads. That's pretty normal though, and not specific to this puller. You will need a different puller for most Chryslers. OTC makes a good one, and so does Lisle. Some Fords need a different puller too, but you can look that up by engine, or look at some of the other reviews to see what Ford engine needs a special puller. As with all pullers, you should keep the threads lubricated with oil or bearing grease. The threads will become destroyed very easily if you don't take care of the tool. Make sure the puller is always installed straight, and stays straight when your pulling the crank pulley. You can warranty the parts of the set on most tool trucks, but that doesn't help you if you need it that day. Anyway I like this set, and I like OTC special tools in general. They are easy to warranty, and everyone sells them. The case is nice and sturdy, and helps to keep everything organized. For what I get in at work, I really only need this set, and the Chrysler puller. So for the most part this set is complete to cover most applications you run in to. Just add the Chrysler puller to fully complete it.

Perfect tool for very tight Mercruiser balancer
I bought this tool after a stout three-jaw slide hammer did not move the very snug balancer on my Mercruiser 350. I thought rust was the culprit since so much is visible on this motor. I sought out a puller with a sturdy (i.e, not a simple casting) plate and a fat lead screw with fine threads. This unit also boasts a nice thrust bearing for even less friction under load. The included parts fit the rather ordinary Mercruiser/GMC just fine, although I used my own three bolts to attach the puller plate to the balancer to get maximum thread engagement. After I was done, I noticed three bolts under the foam liner on the lid side of the plastic storage case that probably would have fit fine. I carefully assembled the puller on the the motor, sprayed on a little Kroil to lube the lead screw and pulled the pulley right off. No drama and with a decent, but not excessive. tug on the 1 1/2 foot long wrench. In contrast the the 'one star' reviewer that wanted a coarse pitch lead screw to get the balancer off 'faster', the leverage of the fine pitch was just the ticket for me. With the balancer off, the mating surfaces looked shiny and nice so I guess the stuck was just due to tolerances. At least I now have a very nice tool to gently reinstall it! The only bother, but not enough to remove a star, is that the storage box is designed to only hold the included parts. I had to just stick my own bolts in a random finger groove to keep them with the set.

Solid tool, needs quite a bit of clearance in front of the balancer to work.
Product appears well made but I was not able to use it. I originally pulled the balancer with simple 3 armed puller that I had. Decided on install I would do it right and purchased this set versus setting parking brake on and putting the manual in gear and torqueing against the chain. Problem I had is clearance. The "puller" screw is fairly long, 5-6 inches so you need that clearance in front, otherwise you can't get a straight shot. This was on a 97 Dodge Viper but I have to imagine many cars would have this problem given there is hardly any room in cars these days. If you had the motor out, your all set. In the case with my car, the steering rack was in the way and really didn't want to mess with it and screw up the alignment.

Works and decent price
I used this to remove the harmonic balancer on a 5.4 2v, worked perfect, no problems. I had prior, bought a cheapy and bent it... so I stepped up to the plate, no complaints with this unit. Lesson learned...

Needed This Tool For Years
I have different steering wheel and balancer pullers but installing the balancer is sometimes a problem. I never liked hammer mechanics but unless you have a long bolt with the proper threads I have occasionally had to resort to hammering a balancer a short distance onto the crankshaft until the bolt solidly reached the threads. Of course I always protected the balancer with a 2x4 but still I became the dreaded hammer mechanic. Chevy engines were the ones I mostly had to do but it was only a short distance and balancers went on relatively easy with light taps until the threads could catch. But a recent job on a Jeep with the 258 Cu In Rambler engine changed that. I had heard of installers and finally decided to add this one to my tool box. I haven't needed it since but it is funny how sometimes after buying a tool you wonder how you ever got along without it.

But not the best for pulling small gears
This kit means business! It's mean't for pulling/installing large press-fit items like harmonic balancers. I was going to use it to pull gears from my Honda BX7A automatic tranny, except the bolt pattern on the gears are 1.75 and 2". The center hole on this puller plate is so large, the minimum slot distance between the bolts are wider than that so it won't work. Oh well, kept the kit for use on heavier stuff. As some reviewers have mentioned, the puller plate on this tool has needle bearings. When you pull the pressure rides on these bearings, and when you push, you turn the plate over so you are pushing on the bearing surface. That combined with the fine pitch of the center bolt enables you to pull stubborn balancers off with ease. The kit comes with a wide variety of adapters to fit the bolt pitch in the center of your crank.

200 bucks for a bunch of bolts, not woth it.
Great Value if you just want a bunch of bolts!! For 200 bucks I would at least expect it to last more the 1 use. As you can see from the pics, same thing happened to me as other reviewers, the main part of the tool is the weakest link. Please save yourself the stress, leave this tool here and never look at it again. YOU'RE WELCOME.

Was received in a respectful time given that i had multiple items. As for item; it is exactly what I wanted. Had a hell of a time finding anything remotely close to it locally in the big city but all others didnt have as many accessories and additional pieces for additional applications .

Broke on the first use
Judging from the other reviewers I have to suspect I received a defective unit. On my first use and without a ridiculous amount of force, the flange section broke away from the nut. I am returning the unit. Given the ease with which the unit snapped, I certainly cannot recommend it. You can see in the pictures that the metal should be thick enough to withstand considerable pressure (much more than I could ever apply) but it looks like poor quality steel was used.
