A quality time piece
I have now had this watch about 3 days and I'm pretty impressed with it. The watch has a good, solid feel to it and operates perfectly so far. It also has a good quality chain of a good length. It appears to go a little less than 1 minute slow each day, which is just fine for a mechanical watch. It is a very good looking watch and just feels like a quality timepiece. My only concern at this point is the skeleton movement. It does make it harder to read the time, but I'm hoping that I will get used to it over time. I'll revise this review if any negatives pop up, or if I just can't get used to reading it.

Great watch but I can't find any instructions on how to insert a photo into the cover
This is a beautiful pocket watch. I really enjoy the open movement display as it gives you something else to look at besides the time. If you have a lighted magnifier, it is also fun to see the mechanism operating. The only thing I haven't quite figured out is how to remove the inner lens to put a picture in the cover. I am a bit hesitant to start prying around on the cover to remove the inner lense. If any one has done this before, can you explain how you did it?

Great watch, beautiful inside and out, keeps perfect time!
This is my second day with the watch. It was my first pocket watch purchase. I have done lots of research on which pocket watch to buy on amazon. Charles Hubert seemed to be the best quality for the least amount of money. What really sealed the deal was when amazon dropped the price from $110 to $79. I really don't think you can find a watch THIS nice for $79. It has a good weight to it. It is very sturdy with a sturdy chain. It came in a very fancy box and the watch was inside a silk pouch with drawstrings. It came with winding instructions. When I opened it, I attached the chain, wound up the watch (about 30-40 turns) until I felt the least bit of resistance. It immediately started ticking. I pulled the crown, set the time, and it has kept perfect time ever since. It was still ticking this morning (the second day) and I wound it up all the way again. I love the sound of the ticking. It isn't TOO loud, but you can hear it when you hold it to your ear, and sometimes in an absolutely quiet room without holding it up to your ear. It has an amazing shine! I love being able to see the inner workings of the watch. The second hand moves very smoothly (multiple ticks per second). My only suggestion would be to remove the inner photo frame if you aren't going to put photos in it. Without a photo inside, the frame rattles around a little bit. If you choose to put photos inside, it takes a while to get the photos cut to the right size. Also, if you put photos inside, its a REALLY tight fit. It took several minutes of tinkering to get the frame back inside the watch. I chose to put a black and white photo of my kids on the outside, and a black and white photo of my wife on the inside. It looks AMAZING with photos in it! I think the black and white photos add to the overall antique look and feel. I definitely recommend this watch to anyone in the market for a sturdy, beautiful, hand-wind pocket watch!

Gorgeous timepiece
This is my first pocket watch and I have to say I absolutely love it! First of all, this watch is beautifully made. It's a bit smaller and thicker than other pocket watches I have seen, yet it is still substantial. The window/frame is very well done - the latch for the cover is well-made and works exceptionally well. Given that I am not placing a photo in the frame at this time, I removed the inner window (a simple twist and it comes out) to prevent rattling from an empty frame. I certainly enjoy viewing the inner workings of the watch from both front and back. The ability to stand the watch up and use it as a sort of desk clock is nice, however I don't really see the point myself. It's not really necessary in my mind. The stand part is well made and solid - just like the entire watch - it has a very nice solid feel overall. Winding is simple - and the side button to open the case prevents accidental opening. After a week, I have found that it keeps very good time. I wind it daily, so I don't know how long the spring will keep the watch going on a full wind, I suppose I should find out.... The chain that comes with the watch is nicely done and designed to hook onto a belt loop. A VERY nice timepiece overall. I am exceptionally pleased.

A refined, modern pocket watch
Let me begin by saying that the product photos on Amazon (which appear devoid of any ambient lighting) do not even begin to capture the beauty of this pocket watch. The actual watch has a very pronounced reflective mirror finish which looks absolutely gorgeous in person. The overall construction is very solid and has a good weight to it. It is a tad thicker and heavier than your average pocket watch, but should still easily fit into your jean's watch pocket. Movement is very smooth, and so far it has kept time perfectly. The cover and dial windows appear to be made of some sort of glass rather than cheap plastic, which is a plus. I very much enjoy the overall aesthetic and design. While the face sports roman numerals, the chrome hints and the large, arrow-shaped dials create a very classy, modern look that is great for any occasion. While handy for carrying a photograph around with you, I personally like to keep the window clear as it creates a nice "frame" for the face of the watch to give it greater stature. It also makes it easier to read the time without having to pop open the cover. The only minor gripe I have is that it gathers fingerprints fairly easily due to the chrome finish. However, I find it best to hold it by the ring so that the body stays clean and the issue becomes moot.

only one has proven to be a great watch, and its quartz
I've ordered six Charles Hubert watches of the past three years. Four (like this one) were defective and returned; one was ordered and replaced three times and I finally gave up. All five mechanical. only one has proven to be a great watch, and its quartz. Sad. Charles Hubert used to be a reliable company.

After 6 weeks of use its starting to lose its timing... I believe the movement may be beginning to strain out thus causing the timing to be more or less permanently off 30 - 45 seconds
