very well designed
These were a little bit more expensive than the Ceptics Grounded Universal Plug Adapter for South Africa (Type M) that come in a three pack, but worth it to buy a few extras. I have only Type M sockets in my house (in Nepal) but no electronic devices sold in this country (let alone the ones I brought with me from the US) even power strips, use that type of plug, so I needed plug adapters for every socket in my house. Local plug adapters are very poorly made, they are bulky, don't fit well in the socket, and the plugs fit very loosely (some of them even sparked and smoked when I plugged something in!!) The OREI Grounded Universal 2 in 1 Plug Adapter Type M is an excellent product, very well made and sturdy and doesn't stick out too far from my wall. Plugs (of varying shape and types) fit securely into it, and the extra plug on top is a nice bonus - especially for the sockets behind furniture, where there isn't enough space for the adapter AND the plug to stick straight out from the wall. I bought several packs of the Ceptics adapters for use around the house, and a handful of these OREI ones for strategic use in places where I need two plugs (but don't have room for a power strip) or in tighter spaces.

OREI Universal 2 in 1 Travel Adapter for South Africa, etc.
I purchased this for my mom, who went on a trip to South Africa. She used it with no issues to charge a phone and a netbook. Important: the wall voltage in South Africa (220-240V) is often different from that of the US (120V). This plug simply allows you to fit a US-shaped plug into a South Africa-style outlet. It does nothing to change the voltage supplied. However: most electronic devices WILL still accept 220-240V. Her electronics, for example, accepted 120-240V, and thus she was able to use this without a portable transformer (which can change one wall voltage into another). In order to find out if you'll need a transformer, look at the wall chargers for the devices you want to use. On them, there should be a label which says the Input voltage (denoted by "V") and current (Amperes, denoted with an "A", will often be in milliAmps, "mA"). My phone charger, for example, says "INPUT: 100-240V ~200mA 50-60Hz 11-17VA", which means it can use voltages from 100-240V, and thus wouldn't need a transformer in order to function in South Africa, since their current and frequency are the same. Decent site to exlain this: [...]

Worked perfectly!
Worked perfectly for my trip to South Africa this last year. At the time of purchase I didn't realize I could charge two items at a time, this was a great surprise! Remember, this isn't a voltage converter just an adaptor. So you will need to purchase a voltage converter if you're bringing along hairdryers, straighteners, or other appliances and some older electronics. Because I was just using this to charge my iPhone and Macbook there was no need for a voltage converter as those can be plugged into this directly, just like most cameras and newer electronics. Definitely recommend this product if you're traveling to South Africa or any of the other countries that use type M plugs.

I recommend these units for their stated application
The product seems to be well made and durable. I have every reason to believe that it will work well. We leave for South Africa on 3/23 and I will know how well it works on 3/24. I took these units to Capetown ,South Africa and Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe . Thevunits have 2 - 120v. US type plug ins each. And I used all four locations to plug in chargers for our phones and tablets. The units worked flawlessly , I checked them each night for overheating and other problems and found none. If I lost these units and was going back to Africa I would buy these units again.

This should fit the bill for my trip to Namibia ...
This should fit the bill for my trip to Namibia BUT: I bought it so that I could plug in 2 "appliances" at the same time. Unfortunately my "appliances" are all Apple products which have "thick" (large) plugs. The outlet on top of this adaptor will accept only thin-type plugs, not the 1"-square ones that would allow me to recharge my laptop or my cell phone or even my camera battery. What I have to do, to fully utilize this adaptor, is gerryrig other, thinner adaptors into that top outlet into which I can plug my thick plugs.

Great product
Just returned from South Africa and used this adapter the whole time we were there. It worked great and loved that it had 2 ports to recharge. All the electronics we used were able to use both 120/240v so we had no trouble (phone, cameras, kindles and curling iron). I could have used another. We used it in CapeTown, Lion Sands Sabi and Joburg. Great price for great product. This may be obvious for some but it wasn't for us, this only works in south Africa if you go to East Africa or Seychelles island you will need a different adapter. That was something we learned the hard way.

Type M Plug adapter for South Africa
One general problem I've had with adapter sets that have multiple plugs for countries around the world is that they often are bulky when plugging into an outlet and have had several not make it through a trip. This time I opted to get just a plug adapter for the specific country I was going that was good and solid. One great feature of this plug is having dual ports/outlets to plug into. It is very well designed with one outlet being on the back and another on the top which made it easy to us both at the same time (e.g. was able to run my laptop computer while also charging my camera/phone batteries at the same time). The adapter is compact and easy carrying for travel. Worked perfectly, never overheated, and power was consistent.

WARNING: THE PRODUCT DELIVERED WAS NOT AS ADVERTISED!!!
I ordered a Type M adapter for South Africa and I received a Type D adapter for India (in the picture on the right). Because the only difference between a Type M and Type D adapter is the size (Type M is larger, as seen in the picture on the left), I did not know until I got to South Africa that I had been shipped the wrong one. And of course, by the time I got home from vacation, it was too late to return it! Absolutely infuriating! I spent the first few days of my vacation searching for a suitable adapter and unable to charge my devices. DO NOT TRUST!

Sehr stabiler Adapter...

Wrong size for South Africa
This adaptor is the wrong size for South Africa. The two smaller tines are too small and too close together to fit in a South Africa outlet. I don't know what country they will fit.

Top plug can be a tight fit.
Works pretty much as you'd expect, but the "top" plug can be a bit stifling as it tended to be too tight to comfortably fit larger plugs. Occasionally looked as though plugs on top were actually bending the ground plug. Also I guess it should be noted that this is NOT a transformer, so can only be used with universal-voltage adapters (most phone and modern laptop chargers are universal, anyway).
