BUZZES WHEN ON

CHEAP FOR WHAT IS IS. EASY TO INSTALL SINCE I'M REPLACING A 10+ YEAR OLD UNIT. WOULD HAVE BEEN FIVE STARS BUT IT MAKES A BUZZING SOUND WHEN IN USE. THAT'S THE ONLY DOWNSIDE I CAN SEE. THE UPSIDE IS I KNOW IT'S WORKING SINCE I CAN HEAR, BUT I'D RATHER NOT.

These work well for a while.

We live in the "high desert" of CA, annual rainfall is about 10", and that is mostly in the winter. I put together a 6 manifold system. The controller has a glitch, it won't let you program #5 and #6 unless you start with #1 and reset (or maintain) the settings and just go in order. I have them in a little shelter so they do not get any sun and are at an easy hight to work with. They all worked for the first six month growing season. Two did not survive the winter, although I thought I had drained all of system. I replaced them. NONE of them survived the second winter although after I turned the water supply off, I left the system on for a day to be sure it drained the valves. Two will not turn off, 4 will not turn on. I did all the things the on-line fixers recommended, even buying 2 new solinoids, which did not solve the problem. So, I am buying new ones, same model, since they will be easy to plumb in, I think this winter I will take them out of the system and put them where freezing is not an issue, and put a drop of oil on the solinoid. The cost is small compared to the value of vegetables we grow, let alone the flowers and shrubs. My experience with Chinese products is that quality control is missing, so sometimes you get a good one, sometimes you do not - 10 electronic things failed in my new Audi - all made in China - in the first 50,000 miles, none of the replacements have failed in the second 50,000 miles.

orbit sprinkler system

I installed a 12 zone orbit system 3 years ago. I replace the controller and the valves This replaced an old system which was hard to program and many valves were leaking The orbit system is controlled from my cell phone. The app is pretty easy to get going and very handy. easy to set schedules or run a single station manually. Helps with maintenance and repairs. Can run the app while walking around in the yard. One of the orbit valves started to leak. So I bought a replacement on amazon. I bought a 3/4" but I needed a 1". There is no way to tell them apart. No number on the valve and the pictures all look the same. I suggest Orbit put a part number on top where you can see it once installed

Need second valve

I was supposed to get two valves but got only one on May 2. These were to replace two valves never delivered on April 26 but paid for.

Affordable valve for a remote watering system.

My water valve was located on the outside of the house far from the deck where the water was needed. I purchased this valve (24VAC) with a 24VAC transformer and a WiFi relay and enclosed the electronics in a waterproof enclosure. Now when my wife wants to water the plants of the deck all she needs to do is run the app on her smartphone which activates the rely which turns on the water valve and supplies water to the nearby hose. When she is done watering, she activates the app to turn off the valve without having to make the trip to the distant spigot. The electrical connections to the valve are watertight so I just connect the valve to the spigot with some hose adapters. The the end of the season I'll just unplug the controller, remove the valve and place everything in the basement until next year. If the unit stops working each of the components is easily replaceable and I don't need to throw the whole unit away.

Two Months and Still Working Great

I did not know what to expect for these watering valves - just built a larger raised bed garden and have four different boxes to water. Using the Orbit sprinkler timer, these valves and a variety of drip irrigation devices and am very pleased with the outcomes we are seeing in the garden.

Not super reliable

We have six of these in service on our property. Every year, I have to replace several. They don't fail catastrophically in general, but start to leak slowly, running up the water bill overtime until we notice. The problem seems to be mostly in these solenoid valves. There was no problem with the older model, but the newer model valves split for some reason and can start a slow leak. These valves work., but require diligence and occasional replacement. It is not a set it and forget it situation like you would hope an automated watering system would be.

one of the worst Orbit product I used for now.

There is a crack on the body which cause water leaking after 2 month use. the worse part is so difficult to get warranty replacement... send replacement request online couple times, and it says to give me call back in an hour... but it never happened.

Robust irrigation valve

Used this valve to build additional irrigation areas around our house to supplement an existing 4 valve system. Built my own ESP-32 based controller which is connected to our home automation system. These valves seem strong and well built. They are powered by a standard Orbit 24 volt AC transformer.

Compact solenoid 3/4” npt threads

It’s small and easy to hook up. Great size that I’ll be able to run lines to and from easily. My plan is to build a fake rock to hide it so I won’t have to dig a box in for it. I’ll update when summer is here.

Les falta calidad

Absolutely garbage. Stay away

Ive been using this for two seasons now. 75% of the time it works as expected. The other 25% of the time it decides not to actually close the valve and ends up flooding the whole yard. Stay away. I do not recommend. This is not a dependable product and can cause severe damage to your house when it fails. Stick to rainbird. It never failed in 20 years.
