Wonderful!
So far so good. After taking the time to adjust the size (and still adjusting to find that perfect fit) the belt is really comfortable. Much better than my old greenlee setup with the shoulder harness. The whole thing about being beltless is a bit odd at first, but now I'm kicking myself as to why I didn't switch earlier. Oh yeah, it was the price. The bags are stuff tho, and they kind of formed into the way they were when in the box. But stick a few rolls of tape into the smaller pockets, or your tape measure, and they will regain their form again. I hardly feel the weight now, and being a construction electrician doing mixed use right now, it's great to have all of my most used tools right at my hands. And I can see how being able to take off the bags and just wear the vest will be extremely convenient when it comes time for trim out. Leaning forward, the tools do not fall out, because the pockets are still pretty tight. But who knows what'll happen once I wear it all in. The nylon and leather seem very very durable, but only time will tell. If this thing ever breaks you can be damn sure I'm going to try and get a replacement since I spent $350 after tax. Breaking in process will take a while I'm sure so wear the belt as much as you can. I find myself constantly bending the vest part to form to my body as much as I can when I'm not actively doing something. There was alot of thought out into this "belt" system. But I wish I could buy it with the electrician bags and not the generic framer bags.

It's different but, as I expected, more efficient.
First I will say that this system takes getting used to. I have worn aprons(nail bags) for years and this system just made sense as I get older and have a more diversified roll on the jobsite. Adjustment: like any bag system it takes a couple of weeks of wear to get the adjustments right. Break-in period: Out of the box the material is rigid and course( generally it always is if it is abrasion resistant) I have been using mine for two weeks and it is still stiff but getting better. I need a good midwinter foundation job with lots of rain to loosen them up. Pockets: lots of organization. I had to replace several items that were stolen so I didn't have to try and make old tools fit. When I replaced the hand tools that were in my old bags with the same item, some of the items didn't fit. Adaptability: Unbelievable. The hammer hook is part of the vest and my impactor and tape clip on the leather bag strap when I am "traveling light". The actual bags are really easy to slip on and off and I made a small folding carrier that I can hook the bags to making a open top organizer. When "traveling heavy" with a fully loaded apron they are really easy to get on and move around in. Just a note Occidental shows pencils in the bags.... Don't do it... There's a fold point there that breaks the pencil off in the pocket. Keep the pencils in the vest.

2 Stars for effort
I use amazon for a majority of purchases. It's a great company with excellent customer service. My first Occidental purchase was mid 1980's when they first came out...all leather and a nice change from off the shelf bags. I wore them for a while and got frustrated with having cramped hips so I tried the "saddle" they made with a sheep's skin liner. It was way to bulky. At the same time Nialers came out with a Cordura nail bag system and I decided to make my own. My wife and I made some Cordura bags that incorporated some of the design layout of both the companies with my own improvements. To this day I still use the bags and they show very little signs of ware. They are made from a double layer of Cordura with no padding and are light and not bulk. I was planning to mass produce them and now I kick myself for not. The point is Occidental strives to make everything "bullet proof" and in so doing adds a lot of unnecessary padding and materials that get in the way. I ordered the 2580 Oxylight System excited with the notion that the belt is eliminated. I wore the system for about a week framing a house during the summer and was not impressed with how it performed. It was hot and uncomfortable. Framing requires a lot of bending over and most of the weight of the bags gets shifted to the bulky shoulder straps becoming very uncomfortable - a crushing feeling on the neck and shoulders. The Oxylight bags are padded and stick out and get in the way when navigating joist and rafters. In my quest for a more comfortable work day I purchased and tried this system and the Oxy Pro Vest 2575 and the Leather Strong Hold 5055 and after $600 on Occidental stuff, not including the first leather set, none of them do it for me. Right now I am using the Occidental nylon clamp on suspenders and a 3" leather Occidental belt and the bags my wife and I made 25 years ago. One more gripe, why do they make the vests from black materials? I don't know about you but were I work (Bend, Oregon) black is not a good color of choice in the summer.

10/10 highly recommend!
I purchased this for my husband who works in the trades and he's quite satisfied with it. He's a huge man (6'06", 330lbs with a 57" chest) and this adjusts large enough to fit him comfortably, which is a miracle in and of itself. I have a very hard time finding him things which fit his crazy big frame, but this product does, which makes it invaluable to him. Not only that, but the quality is excellent as well. The hubby is rough on his stuff, bit this has stood up to his chronic abuse and shows almost no sign of wear. He's extremely happy with it, says it's functional, comfortable and durable. Worth every penny!!
