Great for down jackets!
Came out like new!

A godsend for clothing that are super fragile!
I have a down jacket that was gifted to me years back. I was told to never wash it and only spot-clean as needed and the tag said to avoid taking it to the cleaners. As you guessed, despite my best efforts, it gradually became dirty and grimy. I found this solution after looking on google and took the plunge. I followed the directions and made sure to be extra-gentle, only agitating the coat/light pressing to avoid damaging the down. It's rather hard to get all of the suds off, but that can be remedied with extra rinses with water. I then threw it into the dryer on the lowest settings for heat (instead of clean tennis balls, I ended up using sandals that I rinsed and covered in socks) and ended up drying it for roughly 3 hours with 20 minute intervals in-between to fluff the coat up. It certainly takes a long time to dry, but it's worth it. I thought the smell of the solution would permeate the jacket after I was done, but I could barely smell it after it was dried! You can tell it's dried once the down stops clumping together. I did have the issue where the down ended up being shoved into wedges/corners and leaving other places unfilled, but it was addressed by shaking the jacket. I couldn't even feel the chilly breeze brushing against my body with the jacket and the discolored sleeves were all/mostly clean (it was really bad before). The only change I would request would be to have a top that's marked for easy measuring, but eyeballing the amount worked perfectly for me. One wash ended up taking 1/3 of the bottle, so make sure to order more if you plan on washing multiple items!

Works perfectly. Increased water resistance and improved loft.
I'm a clothing reseller and needed to wash several down jackets I had saved up. These were more expensive brands such as: Patagonia, The North Face, Mountain Hardwear, etc. so I wanted to try a good, down specific, cleaner for them. The Bottle recommends 3.5oz of cleaner per jacket, but I was able to use about half of that rate with great results. My process - Used hot/warm water to hand wash 1 or 2 items at a time in a clean 5-gallon bucket. 2 mins of agitation and scrubbing stains, 10 mins of soaking, another 1 min of agitation and then 1 hot water rinse and gentle squeeze-out of excess water. I was amazed at how much soiling and brown color the drain water had. After that I load the items into my front-load machine washer set on Low Speed or Delicates setting, and only to Rinse and Spin. I want to rinse them in the machine again, but mainly spin out the water. After the majority of water is spun out on Low, I switch the washer setting to High speed and spin only again. This is done to avoid spinning the heavy water-soaked down on high speed, which risks breaking the down "baffles" and stitches in the item. After spun dry I put into large zipped delicates/mesh bags that help to avoid zippers getting snagged up and etc. Then I place in dryer on Low heat with about 6 wool dryer balls and dry, rotating the jackets inside out inside the bags in between cycles, for about 4 cycles or until fully dried. With this method and 1 10oz bottle of Nikwax Down Wash I was able to successfully clean all 7 of the jackets without damage, issues, no residues left behind, etc. The shells of each now have increased water resistance and improved loft. Will be purchasing more of this in the future to wash more jackets.

Works well, but…
This works incredibly well for Dallin jackets, but you only get a few loads from each bottle. So it’s really expensive for how much soap you get.

One of the only recommended products
When you invest in Patagonia you obviously want the soap that is recommended. This works just fine -- my only complaint is that the amount you have to use (directions on back of bottle) would mean that you only get a few washes with each bottle .. That's a lot of plastic bottle for little reward. Other than that, no complaints. Also, DO NOT put directly in the washer with the clothes undesolved-- the first time I used this I had emptied the extra detergent in the washer -- Idk what happened, but my jacket got spotted-- and stayed that way even with a second wash (luckily Patagonia will replace defective products... but just in case it was the soap, use it as it is intended via the directions on the back)!

Good wash but awkward to dry
The product worked really well leaving my jacket nice and clean, I can't say much about proofing but it's fine in spots of rain. Drying the down jacket after was a pain in the neck! If there are big sections of down it's not too bad, but the lightweight thin tubes of down don't spread back out easily even with tennis balls in the dryer. The trick is to dry it in a machine, then air dry for a day or two, then do the machine dryer again and pat clumps vigorously which blows to down back along the tubes.

Completely rejuvenated our Rab jackets
Great value. Concretely rejuvenated our rab jackets. Although you need to then down proof after. This product straps any waterproofing our of the jacket. You then need Down Proof Direct to wash in after.

Excellent product
I used this to wash my 20 yr old snow goose parka that had been in storage for many years. I was a little unsure because the fur trim wasn’t removable so I hand washed the parka and fur and it all came out like it was brand new. I would definitely use this again for my down parka.
