Great for kids!
I have used these pads for three years on my kids beds. We often have nighttime "leaks", some not insubstantial, and this pad has contained them well. To minimize the number of times I have to change the whole bedding, I have also used the Handy Pad ([...]), but sometimes the leaks go beyond the Handy Pad, and it is so nice that our good quality mattresses underneath are protected. I am on here to buy two more of these. I am puzzled by the poor reviews. These wash well (repeatedly), sometimes I dry them on low or sometimes I hang them up, they protect well, and they are soft and do not feel at all like a waterproof pad. As far as the one reviewer who mentioned they smelled toxic coming out of the bag, I wonder if that was the pad or the bag? I wash everything before using it, but we have never noticed an odor. And I wonder if there is some sort of defect in those that are leaking through? All I can say is that we have been VERY happy with these, happy enough to buy another one for each bed (to replace old hand-me-down ones that we had been rotating with), and we are very picky! I would recommend these to anyone, whether they had kids or not, they are nice pads.

Run small
I bought two of these for two spare beds in my house. I wanted something inexpensive since the beds don't get use too often. I haven't been able to test how waterproof they are since there have been no spills in the beds. The mattress pad feels nice and thick and it fits over a very deep mattress and stays in place well. The reason I am giving it a 3 star review is because the top portion (the padded portion) its small for a double bed. Along the ends and sides of the beds there is a section that isn't covered by the top/waterproof part. This might not be a problem for someone using the mattress pad for extra comfort, but I have small children. I expect that eventually one of them will spill something or get sick in bed and if it's by the edge, it will get on the mattress, which defeats the purpose of having the mattress pad. I'm not too happy about this, but I decided to keep them anyhow since these are being used occasionally and are inexpensive.

Bought two, then bought two more!
I absolutely recommend these matress pads. They're quiet (as in silent--they have no crinkle to them at all) and definitely waterproof--or at least, highly resistant. I have a 1 1/2 (in diapers) and 3 1/2 year old (in pull-ups at night), both who are heavy wetters at bedtime and who occasionally leak through. Once in awhile, my 3 year old has put himself down for a nap and wet the bed. To my complete delight, there was not even a little moisture on his mattress, no matter how long the bed was wet before he woke up. As for washing them, they wash and dry well (no shrinking). I do not use any fabric softener for them, because I'm afraid that will cut down on their waterproofing ability. They fit easily on deep mattresses, and are super soft and comfy. I originally bought two a year ago for my oldest child, and since we just bought a bed for my younger child, I searched high and low to find the same mattress pads again--then bought two more. Can't go wrong with these.

I'm very happy with this mattress pad
I'm very happy with this mattress pad. The sides are made up of a very stretchy material that makes it easy to pull over the corners of the mattress. I haven't had any problems with ripping, and the material seems more durable than our previous mattress pad, which I ended up puncturing with my fingers. The top of the pad is nicely cushioned. There's a slight possibility of bunching, but it hasn't been a problem at all. Above all, I appreciate the fact that this mattress pad does NOT make noise when I move around on it. I gave up on a previous waterproof mattress pad because I kept hearing a creaky noise every time I rolled over at night. This was a result of the waterproof vinyl backing rubbing against the mattress itself. I found it very disruptive. The reason I bought this mattress pad was because my six-year-old has had the twin-size version for three years and I've been very pleased with it. It has protected his mattress from the various spills and accidents that children have.

Lasted awhile before tearing in washer
This mattress pad made it about 8 years before the thin mesh skirt tore completely off all the way around in the washing machine. I can't complain much about the lifetime, but the fitted-sheet style design did lead to some bunching up.

no problems so far
Some people said this is a really cheap mattress pad and tore at times or wasn't waterproof enough...seems to be working fine so far. The pad itself does not fit the bed perfectly so there are parts of the bed that are not covered. I wanted something semi waterproof just in case but do not have a child wetting the bed or an animal peeing on the bed (if my animal peed on the bed I wouldn't get him on the bed...don't blame the mattress pad blame the dog). I have not taken it off to wash it get so I am not sure how it holds up in the wash but based on the price I'm guessing a delicate wash and dry will do just fine.

Works but not durable
I bought this in 2009 to use for my toddler's XL twin mattress since he was still having accidents. It has definitely saved our mattress from accidents so I'm pleased with the waterproofing. However, the sides of this mattress pad are a thin stretchy satiny material and tear easily. It got a tear in the side in 2012 and the sides completely ripped off the top in the washer during the next washing. I have a front loading washer which is quite gentle so I was shocked to see this destroyed. I'm now searching for a replacement with more durable construction since we have our second child sleeping on the bed and in "training".
