great choice for kids who love to play Nerf battles. It's easy to use, accurate, and fires darts up to 90 feet. The Retaliator comes with a variety of attachments that can be used to customize the blaster, making it perfect for any type of Nerf battle. Here are some of the things I like about the Nerf N-Strike Elite Retaliator Dart Blaster: It's easy to use. Even young kids can figure out how to operate the Retaliator. It's accurate. I was able to hit targets at a distance of 90 feet with ease. It fires darts quickly. I was able to fire off a dozen darts in just a few seconds. It comes with a variety of attachments. The Retaliator comes with a stock, a barrel extension, and a sight, all of which can be used to customize the blaster. Overall, I highly recommend the Nerf N-Strike Elite Retaliator Dart Blaster. It's a great choice for kids who love to play Nerf battles.

Good Nerf gun if you know how to load the clip.
I was having trouble with this Nerf gun until I started loading the darts the right way: they were jamming and it was tearing the darts up. What you have to do is load the darts so that tail-end of each dart is touching the side of the clip and the tip of each dart is as far as possible from the other side of the clip.

Classic Nerf Soldier class standard issue blaster.
The Blue Retaliator was my first experience with Nerf guns in 2014, and wow was I impressed. No batteries needed, and yet it launched darts pretty far and with good accuracy for a dart gun. I saw that it gave much better distances on it's shots than it's yellow predecessor (the N-strike Recon). But then this blaster started jamming and I found that the darts start to warp over time and get stuck in the chamber a lot. Also, if you play on dirt, it could get on the darts and rub off in the blaster, possibly causing issues you don't want to occur. I also soon found the barrel extension robbed the blaster of dart range and that it was better off without it, just not better off in the looks department. Today it has a white (and shoddily-painted with a crude blue stripe and lettering) successor which is supposed to be an upgraded version with improved advertised distances, but do the white ones performed better than the blue ones that they replaced? I have a lot more knowledge on Nerf blasters now, and I have since purchased a ProChrono chronograph and have clocked the Retaliators' average dart velocities at 65 FPS (feet per second) with consistent readings from several different Retaliators, including this white one (this is the second of two; the defective one I returned to Amazon because the blaster primed once and got completely stuck halfway into the second prime). I was discouraged to read that the new white and blue "Elite" Retaliator to have worse ratings than the first blue one despite having a longer advertised shooting distance (I thought "shame on you Hasbro, making Nerf a liar"). However, my white Retaliator had an average FPS of 71, making it slightly stronger in this case (blue 65, white 71) and putting up numbers to help back the claim. As an update, Orange Mod Works (OMW), Worker, and Blasterparts have upgrade kits which pushes the limits of this blaster to 100 FPS on my Retaliator(s), and with the stock air restrictor (AR) intact! Others sources state that Retaliators and Rampages seem to perform better on the stock AR. As a warning, this blaster can be irritatingly difficult to modify if you are not good at taking things apart and putting them back together. Also, the internal components are being punished by the upgraded pressure from the 5kg/7kg springs, and aftermarket efforts to reinforce key areas and replacement parts most likely to break are included in their sets. But seriously, with the spring alone this blaster is a beast, it's just that it loses it's control after a while and misfires if primed too hard. Perhaps it is best to leave these blasters stock? Nah.

User error, let me explain
Oct 18, 2020 update: I'm a bonehead. The NOT so perfect part I complained about earlier is not a flaw. It was user error. Let me explain: I had a heck of a time removing the magazine/cassette from the gun. It turns out you need to have the gun cocked back (and left there), then hit the release button to pop out the magazine/cassette. I'm not sure instructions explaining how to release the magazine/cassette were in the box. I'm sure if the instructions were included, the instructions would say something about how to release the magazine/cassette. Overall the gun is a great value and it does jam time to time but it's still one heck of a deal. ----------------------------------- Almost but NOT... perfect. This gun is so good in many ways but it has one fatal flaw. A lot of other users complain about this issue but ignored it and bother it anyway. The good: Shoots and re-loads great. The Nerf bullet comes out just strong and accurate enough to get that oh so sweet "ouch" from my 6 year old when I tag him. The bad: How the heck do you remove the magazine. Others reviewing the have said the same thing. The magazine is super hard for a kid to remove and the difficulty does not change much for an adult. In the second picture, you will see a small rectangular orange piece. That is the mechanism keeping the magazine in the gun. Unfortunately, that piece will pull all the way out evenly which allows the magazine to be removed. It's a great gun but I'm torn about keeping it. What to do, what to do.

It's ok
I liked the fact that it breaks down into more than one kind of gun, so it's versatile. The problem is, it frequently jams and if the "bullets" are put in precisely right, it will jam. An 6 or 7 year old can't always be perfect in loading it, so it was constantly jamming. That was very frustrating for him.

Nerf N Strike Elite Retaliator Blaster
I gave this Nerf gun to my grandson who is nine years old. He got it for Christmas and his only used it a couple times. It is always jamming. It has been very stressful for both of us trying to get this to work. I will be returning it as soon as I figure out how to do that.

Se traba y destruye dardos
No fue lo que esperaba del arma y es lamentable ya que el diseño me gustó mucho. Para recargar, se traba mucho y continuamente no agarra bien lo que provoca que se salgan los dardos del arma si bajas la mira o los atora al recargar lo que hace que tengas que estarlo sacando manualmente, es muy tedioso. Lo peor es que en el poco tiempo que la use, destruyó 7 dardos. El cartucho donde se ponen los dardos es de muy baja calidad y al poco tiempo empieza a aplastar los dardos siendo casi imposible poner 12. En un par de dias pase a poder poner menos de 6 dardos para que funcionara el cartucho.

Pesimo producto pero excelente servicio al cliente de Hasbro
Una semana de uso y se traba... no lanza los dardos. Contacte al servicio a cliente de Hasbro y con solo un correo atendieron mi queja, mandaron mensajería por el juguete dañado y via mensajería me enviaron la reposición de un modelo similar.
