Not the same as my original...

... and I'm not just some retired old guy complaining about the "modern age" (though I am a retired old guy!). I removed the old, broken unit. I compared them and this one looked as similar to the old one as it did in the pictures. I installed it... it fit right into the original space. Screwed it down, and found two things I'm really not happy with: - The back edges stick out from the door. No amount of fidgeting with the screws/plates changed it. I reinstalled to old one, it fit tightly against the door. Oh, well, so it sticks out a bit (thought I), so what? I'll tell you so what! It scrapes agains the jam when opening the door! Grrrr. And will continue to until I can (maybe) bend the back edges in a smidge. -Which brings me to the second, and most problematic problem. For some at-the-desk (I assume) design reason, the vertical edges of the finger holes are no longer right-angled. I does look nice, but if I try to pull/push the door via the push/pull finger holes, my fingers slip out!!! Absolutely stupid "improvement"!!! PROS: looks very nice, same overall shape as my 25-year old one, easy to replace. CONS: doesn't fit tightly against my door, the finger holes are smoothed which makes pulling/pushing the door open and/or closed a big PITA!

A pull that's Soooo hard to pull

I got an old chrome pocket door latch that looks like this, but home depot no longer carries the chrome color. After a lot of research I found this. After installing it, it is so HARD to pull !!! So I compare it with my old one and realize the same as another review. The recess is too flat and curved that the fingers can't really "hook" on something to pull. I think the design is just wrong to begin with and the quality is also bad. The latching spring inside is so flimsy that it falls off quite easily. I should've spent another 1/2 the prices to return it but, my contractor threw out the package already. :( Guess I'll keep googling.

Broke after 4 months

Bought this for my brand new pocket doors in my master bathroom. It looks great, but it is hard to operate, the lock is really tiny and hard to get ahold of. But what's most disappointing is that the lock broke! Went to lock it one day, after only having it installed for 4 months and it just broke, won't turn at all. Amazon would only allow me to return within 30 days of purchase. Warranty stinks, will think twice before buying things like this from Amazon.

I hate this latch

I hate this latch, very flimsy and as other have stated, you can't get a good enough grip on it with the sloped sides to pull it shut or open. Complete waste of money if you want to shut the door all the way.

This is absolutey junk!

This pocket door hardware by National Hardware is simply JUNK! Our carpenter who has years of experience with such doors and hardware could not get this to work after trying to install for more than one hour... we went to Home Depot and purchased one and installed it in 5 minutes or less. Do not buy this model it is Junk and not worth 1 cent.
