Does the job fine

I have had this grill now for more than a year. We use it at least once or twice a week. And I really like it. Electric grilling elements are never as good as open flame. But I've had no problem whatever cooking steaks, chops, fish, burgers (etc) in the same amount of cooking time as most small tabletop gas grills. Sometimes I think this little grill does things even faster. It is true, as several reviewers noted, that the temperature reading never seems to go above 400, nevertheless everything cooks beautifully in just a few minutes per side and tastes great! So I decided it's partly just a temperature gauge thing. The grill itself is heating and working fine for me. And it is so easy to use. I turn it on, give it 5 -10 minutes to "warm up" (paying no attention to the gauge), then I put the food on, cook it a few minutes on each side, and voila! Everyone always comments on the nice sear marks and how juicy everything stays! Recently bought this grill again, as a gift for friends, and they love theirs as well. (PS their temp gauge works fine - grill gets easily to 600 or more - and cooks identically to mine.)

Great Electric Grill

When set to highest setting the heat to 300F takes about 15 min, 400 F takes about 30 mins. As long as you close the lid pretty quick and don't ever just cook with it open, this thing really cooks your food just like a gas/charcoal grill. The quality of the product and it's materials are high. Mine had a dented lid on arrival, customer service sent me a new one within days. Really happy with this purchase. Great for my condo balcony. Also the temperature gauge (which many of this items competitors don't have) is what makes this product so easy to use. Real differentiator.

1 hour to get to 350 and never gets to 400

Been struggling with this electric BBQ for a while now. No matter how high I initially have the heat and keep the lid closed - the BBQ will not get past 350. Materials are quality but now it's just sitting on my deck like furniture.

Napoleon Electric TravelQ Portable BBQ PRO285E

We live in a Condo where we can't use Propane BBQ's. We use a Napoleon Propane BBQ for camping and based on how well it works we gave the Napoleon Electric a try. We just love it! Our first use was during minus 20 outdoor temperature and our steak was perfectly cooked. We recommend this BBQ to anyone who is unable to use propane. We had no problem getting the cooking temp up to 600F just to see how high it would go.

Great Purchase

There’s a couple of things that you need to know about using this grill. First, if using an extension cord it MUST be a minimum 15 amp power cord. If not, you’re limiting the ability of the element to achieve high temperatures. Second, unless you’re constantly moving this grill around, you should line the bottom with ceramic briquettes. This helps tremendously with heat retention and adding flavour. I have zero complaints about this grill. Figuring out the right temperature setting is not difficult, although it does take some trial and error. Sears perfectly. Grills evenly. For added flavour, consider using a smoker tube with your favourite wood pellets. Highly recommend this grill.

Conforme a mes attentes.

Je suis content de mon achat, les grilles sont en fonte et se nettoient facilement. Ca ne grille pas autant qu'au gaz mais je voulais un BBQ facile a démarrer et transporter. Fais la job. Je recommande pour ceux qui ne veulent plus manquer de propane.

Electric burner does not heat past 400 degrees

We bought this BBQ based on the previous reviews, but they were for the propane version and not the electric one. Do NOT buy the electric BBQ, it does not heat up past 350-400 degrees. Unfortunately the return period has passed so I am dealing directly with Napoleon, who sent a replacement burner and thermostat but the result is the same.
