Keeps my kids hands out of the toilet!
Apparently the bathtub and toilet are indistinguishable. Grateful that this lock does the trick! Also it is SO much fun to watch friends try to figure out how to get in...

It doesn't fit my toilet right so I suggest measuring before buying

Easy to install
Easy to install yes. But there still a huge gab of we have motivation which my autistic toddler does to shove stuff in potty still. Says fits most toilet seats but lock installed still has some what of a gab to slide stuff through it but easy to unlock and install.

Very close to perfect....but not perfect.
As usual I searched online before making this purchase like with alot of important items in life that I purchase. And this item is very important! I've heard both the parents' AND plumbers' stories of items "flushed into neverland" by toddlers. So it was on the top of my list to get the right seat lid lock the first time. Just before I began my search, my wife had purchased one of those units that you have to stick with adhesive onto the seat. What happens to the adhesive residue when your kid turns 18 and you finally want to remove it? I'll tell you what happens. You spend the weekend using a chemical to remove that residue that not only harms your plastic seat but also your not-so-plastic nostils! Not for me, thanks! Well, if you feel the way I do about these issues, then this unit is the one for you. The positives? Easy to assemble...including instructions and spacers provided to fit your bowl edge width. With what is provided in the box, it really should fit all toilets. Also, the unit is easily removable so I can take it off on the day the cleaning person (not my wife...we actually have a cleaning person) comes to tidy the bowl. And, when you know how to use it, you can work it at 3am just fine. The negative that made me only give it 4 out of 5 stars? I had to "shim" the flip top portion that rests on the very top of the upper outside of the seat. When I attached it without shimming, the unit would open at will without activating the (un)-lock lever. Hey, maybe it was just my toilets. All three in my house are only about a year old and may be "slimmer" in that area than an older toilet...who knows? But honestly, the shimming was easy. I used that rubber shelf liner. I cut a piece the length and width needed and wrapped it about three or four times around and then used a good tape to secure it and that provided the "tightness" to keep it from opening at will. I really do like this unit. I think I read the unit is rated for children up to 4 years old. When my son figures out how to open it?....we'll move to staight duck tape!

Easy to install, bigger kids could pop it off
I actually got this to keep my cats out of the toilet after we moved and the new toilet lids are lightweight plastic. It works, however my lids and seats are thinner than the average and there’s a gap when it’s locked. I put a little foam to close the gap and it’s great. Best way to clean it is take it off and it has small crevices but a sponge works. Haven’t traveled with it but it would be so easy to. If I have the seat up I could just twist it off but it’s holding up when closed and locked. I like that there’s no adhesive to keep it in place so I don’t have to worry about leaving goo when I don’t need it anymore. If you have thinner lids like me and your kid is a little older and determined to get in there, they probably could but overall I think this lock works well and was a good price for that peace of mind.

It works but could do with a few improvements
My son recently learned the word "wash" and that meant going to the bathroom sink to wash. Recently, we discovered (to our chagrin) that "wash" also meant dipping his hands into the toilet bowl and so we started taping down our toilet bowl lids with packing tape or duct tape, whichever happened to be handy at the moment. Unfortunately, having your toilet bowl lid taped close also means that depending on how closely it was taped and how sticky the tape was (we reuse the tape), adults also have a hard time using the toilet. You can't wait till the last minute because you might have to take 10 seconds to remove the tape. This also makes it so inconvenient using the toilet at night. And that led to the purchase of this product. The product came in several easy-to-identify pieces - four spacers, 2 L-shaped things that go under the rim and the main body of the toilet seat lock (the big L shaped thing attached to a hinge. I ended up having to use all four spacers on ours. It was easy to assemble and attach. The problem was that while the spacers addressed the issue of toilet bowl rims being different sizes, the manufacturer assumed that the seat and the lid sizes are universal - there is no provision for having thinner or thicker ones. As it turns out, the topmost portion of the lock floats about half a centimeter above our lid, it is very loose. My son has already attacked it a few times since it got installed and so far, it's kept him from dipping his hands into toilet water. Given its loose installation, I don't think that this will survive a sustained attack from a determined toddler and this is why I took off one star. But then again, as children aren't supposed to be left unsupervised anyway, this device certainly performs well in the sense that it keeps our toddler from getting his hands into toilet water and gives us time to reach him.

Terrible quality
The media could not be loaded. Terrible fit!! My 8 month old can easily pull these right off (see video- he got it completely off right after I stopped recording), so they'd be no match for a toddler.

A must have for new parents
I had seen so many videos on the internet of kids playing in the toilet or putting toys in it, that I wanted to protect ours since our 1st born was walking early at 9 months and couldn't fully understand not to. When he grew up, we showed him how to open it, but his younger brother couldn't. My daughter is too young now, but when she starts to walk everywhere, we'll lock it again. I had to glue a chair leg protector on the top so that there wouldn't be a gap and so no fingers can get in between the seat, but that was no trouble at all.

Too much of a gap. Ineffective product.
Really shouldn't have to 'modify' or 'simply add to a design' to make a product do its job either it does or doesn't and in this case it's a definite does not! Our toddler has managed to fit all kinds of things in between the gap. There was an older style toilet lock that swung down, I can't find it anymore, so we went with this one. Well so far he's managed to fit a remote, crayons, pretty much anything within an inch and then some wiggle room in there. Im less concerned about his safety at this stage in the game and more our plumbing. Please don't waste your money or think the reviews about modifying it will help, toddlers are so smart and will bypass your add ons, just buy a better toilet lock.

Does not work.
Given the smallest amount of torque and this pops right off. I'm not sure if this was product tested on a specific type of toilet rim but I have 3 different toilets in my house and none of them work. Even went as far to try it at both my mother in laws and my parents house (as they babysit) - same problem, pops off way too easily. The main purpose of this thing is prevent a toilet lid being opened and it cannot do this. Steer clear as this product does not work.
