Very nice trim kit but.....

This is a very good quality Moentrol trim kit. It is very classy looking. I love the way it looks. We replaced an old push/pull trim kit. We have the original 30+ year old valve so we ran into a couple of issues. The stop tube barely fit. My husband forced it on and it won't come off. Hopefully we won't have to take it off for another 10+ years. Thankfully we replaced the cartridge as well. You have to reverse the hot and cold on the cartridge if you're used to changing the temperature from a top handle. This handle is on the bottom. I read that we needed the adapter for this trim kit. The screws would not screw into the holes in the adapter. It would get tight once it was in about 1/8 of an inch. We ended up using different screws. Otherwise we are very happy with it. I read a review about the handle sticking out too far, not the case with ours. The handle doesn't jiggle, it's very snug. Make sure to put in that tiny metal washer.

Good retro fit for old Moentrol valves

Our house was built 1969 so we had old Moen shower valves with screws at 5 and 7 o clock. I bought some Danco trim kits but they are plastic and looked bad after a year. I called Moen and they gave me 3 kits that fit these old. This is made for other type withhold water stop or you can take off the stop and use it on Moentrol (pull on, left hot, right cold). To get the handle at right distance I ended up using my old handle arm. All valves maybe different distance from tile so you may have to improvise. The handle is solid, the back piece is a little thin but there aren't a lot of choices if you don't want to solder in a whole new valve. Nice upgrade worth it.

High Quality Modern Replacement for Old Crystal Push/Pull Shower Handle

This is the perfect replacement for the old push/pull style shower handles. Works with 1225 Moen cartridge. If your shower handle face-plate has screws at 5 and 7 o clock you will need to purchase the adapter part# 145058. High quality. All metal and sturdy.

NICE UPGRADE

This Moen Align trim kit is a very nice update for an old shower valve. If you have the older shower valve, you'll need the Moen adapter. The threaded holes on the adapter may be too small for the screws. On the negative side, the handle is bulky and heavy and moves from it's set position. The handle is also tricky to install. It requires a small set screw. The hole is near the lever of the handle and difficult to install with the allen wrench.

Great

If you have the old pull to turn on moentrol knob then this is for you. Update the look without getting a low flow new piece of junk. Keep the high flow and get a modern look with this one. You may need the valve adapter that some other reviewers mentioned. I needed it on one shower but not the other.

Missing Parts

Bought this as "Used - Very Good" but was missing the handle set screw and an allen wrench. It's possible they fell out during shipping as everything was tossed loose into the box and poorly taped closed. Now I'll end up paying as much as new for a scratched up used one. Guess I got burned on this one.

Leak detected

This review is based on the installation of this product on a valve+ cartridge that is 25+ years old. When this trim is installed to a newer valve it may work fine without any problem. After installing this trim I noticed a tiny leak at the cartridge insert for my old valve. Water was seeping down through the retaining clip slot. I still don't know the reason what makes it leak, but there was no leak when I put the old ( plastic and ugly looking) trim back and used it. I repeated exchanging between the old and new trim ( and their matching sleeves) several times and confirmed the leak only from the new trim. My suspicion is that the rotation mechanism for the new trim may be causing some undesired movement of the cartridge, which then lets some water escape. One could blame the 25+ year old cartridge for the leakage, but note that this cartridge doesn't leak with the old trim. This simply indicates that a certain rotation (and/or temperature stop) mechanism for the new trim is inferior to that of the old simple design. Stop is precise and definite at the high temperature end (with hex bolt) but the stop at the low temperature limit is mush. At that end some thing feels being twisted. During medium temperature rotations, I feel certain complicated touch/push/nudge between the black plastic piece and the white insert. This is in big contrast to the old trim which is a very simple single piece of plastic that stops very clearly and abruptly at both ends of temperature.

Not worth it

I had to buy Moen's valve trim, because I did not change the Moen valve (big mistake) I had to seal the trim with silicon and no protection from water for the valve sleeve. Not worth it. I recommend kohler and Grohe, I used them for three bathroom renovations and they have fantastic products.
