The bottom isn’t flat

When you can get measurements on it, it works great! The software is good too. The issue here is the bottom of the device isn’t flat or very wide so having it stay straight on the wall is kind of a chore.

So far so good

Hoping I can actually measure some things for cutting with this. So far-- it has been very handy for estimating a few things. Have only had it a few days-- but really like it a lot. Easy to use and keeps like three past measurements or something in memory which is handy. The mentally insufficient can use this tools in seconds from opening the box and installing the batteries.

It Is Accurate But......

I love Leica products. My last Leica lazer measuring device lasted 12 years but it was a lot more expensive than this one. I saw this one for a fraction of the cost and bought it. It is accurate and it works well but...... I need dimensions in the nearest 1/8th of an inch and it doesn't measure in 1/8ths. OK, I can convert to decimals but.... I gave up trying to reset it to 1/8ths of an inch and it started giving screw ball readings in decimals. I read the instructions, watched YouTube videos and I can't find a Leica customer service phone number. It's basically useless for my purposes. Cheaper is not always better.

Works with Home Designer Pro or Chief Architect

I have been trying to find a way to do existing measurements with a laser measurer and put them directly into a cad program. I first tried the Bosch GLM 50C which could send dimensions to Floor Plan Creator which could then export the file as a DFX file. Floor Plan creator is a challenge to do existing plans with. Next the DFX file doesn't convert directly to a DWG plan. It has to be resized to the right scale and then traced. Searching the Chief Architect site it says two of the expensive Disto measurers would work. It wasn't clear if this inexpensive Bluetooth measurer could be used with Home Designer. Further down the page it says there is a program, Disto transfer PC. It took some effort to figure it out, but it does work well. Choose to transfer lengths in decimal format instead of feet and inches as Home Designer doesn't like the fractional inch format from the Disto. There is also a Sketch Plan app that can export a DWG file. I think this will work too, but haven't tried it enough yet to know.

Good value, poor documentation

The documentation for this device is seriously lacking, and it does not sync data like most other Bluetooth devices. For example, nothing in the pithy documentation explains the nuance with pairing the D1 with your phone. In Android 12, I finally figured out that you SHOULD NOT use the Android Bluetooth settings to pair/recognize it -- otherwise the Leica software won't recognize it. You simply let Leica's software to do the pairing by itself, which is not how any other Bluetooth device works. Plus, while I can get the Leica software to read values into the spreadsheet app, I cannot get it to add a measurement to a drawing or line on a photo in the other Leica app. Thus I wind up having to type the length manually on any line in the drawing software. The D1 device itself otherwise works fairly intuitively, and +/- 2mm is pretty accurate at this price-point. Changing its settings (e.g. units, BT-on/off, beeps) involves holding down both buttons for a second or two. And yes, it only has two buttons.

Very accurate

These are the best laser measures on the market. I had to return this one because it was too accurate! The more expensive models allow you to change the fractions 1/8”, 1/16” but this is 1/64”. In my line of work we measure to the nearest 16th of an inch.

Excelente herramienta

Compré este producto para hacer levantamientos arquitectónicos y me ha servido bastante. El láser es de muy buena calidad y puede leer distancias incluso en plena luz del día pero con distancias no muy grandes. Se siente bien hecho y es resistente a caídas y salpicaduras leves. Utiliza pilas AAA y le duran bastante. Es sumamente sencillo de utilizar y si lo emparejas con la app para smartphones puedes tomar fotos e irle metiendo las medidas de lo que quieras medir para entonces tener una foto con cotas. La función de generar planos es muy buena pero si quieres medir fachadas a la distancia se vuelve más complicado y será necesario pagar una subscripción a Leica, lo cual no me gustó nada. El distanciómetro no puede medir ángulos lo cual es raro porque hay otros productos de menor precio que si pueden hacerlo. A pesar de eso, recomiendo mucho el producto porque es de buena calidad y es fácil de usar.

Un botón para medir y ya, más sencillo no se puede. Preciso y resistente. Pero se supone que las demás funciones se complementan con la app. Qué está para Android y iOS pero no funciona en iPhone 13, se cierra, por eso tres estrellas . Es parte de su función que se conecte a la app.

La conectividad Bluetooth y la aplicación en teléfono son increibles

Uso el producto principalmente para levantamientos en interiores. Es espectacular, con la App en el teléfono estás tomando datos en tiempo real sin necesidad de escribir de manera automática. Hace todo mucho más rápido. Realmente puedes hacer el trabajo con una sola persona, sin necesidad de auxiliar. Mejora mucho la productividad.

Really nice little things... I didn't had time to test everything but the only bad things I can say right now is the little battery door in the back always fall... And battery too... I had to wrap it around with e tape.
