Nifty reusable bottles for my water kefir and kombucha brews!

I was looking for reusable, resealable bottles to store my finished water kefir and kombucha brews in my refrigerator and still have easy access to them for consumption. These work great! The flip top works well for keeping the contents under pressure during secondary fermentation, so my brews develop "fizz", similar to carbonation. The 32 oz. (1 quart) size bottles are perfect for storing large quantities of the different flavor brews I'm experimenting with, in my refrigerator, without taking up a lot of shelf space. The glass is thick and sturdy and should last a long time. The gaskets on the caps are easily replaceable with "Grolsch" style rubber washers if they wear out. The bottles are shipped without the flip tops installed, but it's not too difficult to install them, once you figure out the correct orientation of the wire "fingers" into the pockets on the bottle neck. Hint - Look closely at the picture of the lid installed on the bottle and notice the "fingers" of the lower "C" shaped wire that wraps around the bottle neck, (not the upper wire part that goes through the cap). Notice that they are ABOVE the "C" shaped wire that wraps around the bottle neck and are fitted into the pockets on the sides of the bottle neck. I mistakenly installed the first one with the fingers below the "C" shaped wire and guess what, it wouldn't close. Duh. I gently pried off the wire and re-installed it with the fingers above the "C" shaped wire. Tada! Success. I made sure all the other tops were oriented correctly and simply inserted one wire "finger" into the corresponding pocket on the side of the bottle neck and "snapped" the other finger into the pocket on the other side. No problemo, finished all the other installs in no time. :o) If you feel you're not mechanically inclined, I believe I read somewhere that if you request at checkout that the seller install the caps for you, they will do that at no charge, before they ship out your bottles. Oh, and you might want to pick up a bottle brush while you're here, you'll probably need one to clean them at some point.

Damage from shipping.

I received the box today. It was well packed in three boxes. There were dividers between each bottle. However in the little section that the caps and wires were in, the bottle is broken. I have thought the same product before and was very happy with it.

Great bottles and superb supplier

I got these bottles because my wife and I had a restaurant serve chilled water in them... made the water taste even better:). We liked them so much I also ordered the cobalt blue ones from the same supplier; those were beautiful. The vendor shipped the bottles quickly and the product came as advertised. I got the second shipment of blue ones and had some breakage due to shipper mishandling. Midwest Homebrewing and Winemaking Supplies responded immediately and replaced the broken items. The replacements got here express. They were a dream to work with!!!

I LOVE THESE.

I LOVE THESE...just don't let them bang into each other...they will shatter. Also I have to use a wooden spoon to help push the wire down to close the lid. They are tight but will open easily when you pull out on the metal at the sides. These are perfect for kombucha. I would, and did buy them again.

The Most Breakable Bottles

I'd request a refund, but I bought these in September last year, and it's now May, so I'm not going to waste my time asking. Of the dozen bottles in the box, six have exploded, three in the last week, all in the last month. I've noticed over the years that glass has a specific lifetime (all glasses in a set start breaking around the same time), and for these bottles, it's extremely short. I have been making kombucha for years, and this is my third set of flip-top bottles. I still have nine bottles from a box I bought at least 3 years ago, and six left from another set from about a year after the first dozen. I'm going back to the original brand, because they have lasted. Some of those broke from being knocked off the counter, but the last of these bottles exploded today, about two hours after I checked them during my lunch break. Around 2:30 or so, I heard a pop, and knew all too well what it was. No more messes for me. I threw away the last three empties and will throw away the rest as soon as they are empty too.

Best Seal

Excellent sealing for my new Kombucha brewing. All those bottles I was reusing from my previous store bought kombucha had caps that were terrible at holding seal and I donated them to my local recycler after getting these! Love the shape and size of these bottles. Perfect. Ordered 2 more cases of 12.

I love these bottles

I love these bottles. I've been looking for 32 oz bottles for quite while now, these are great. I brew 3 gallons of kombucha every 5 days. These bottles take up a lot less shelf space. I am delighted and my 'booch is nice and fizzy.
