No Water Hammer

Stores are carrying a different brand this year and I tried it out. Immediately we noticed loud water hammer and had to stop using it in fear of our pipes. Melnor's shut off easy and not suddenly. I had to throw a brand new timer out so I could buy a Melnor and save my pipes. Also, it just works and I appreciate the Melnors. It takes a bit to get used to programming it, but once you get the hang of it, it's pretty easy.

Easiest to use & dependable

I go through lots of timers! I’ve tried many. This one is my favorite as it’s the most user friendly, easy to understand and dependable. I had to replace mine after the devastating 3 day Atlanta freeze, but that was to be expected. I had to replace all of them, including a brass hose splitter. It was quite cold.

Allows for frequent water cycles down to one minute each cycle. Good warranty.

This is one of very few trimmers that allow me to water as often as one minute every 4 hours. I can use it to sprout barley seed for chickens and water multiple container vegetable gardens less often with the same timer. This last timer broke and flooded my garden, it would not turn off, after removing battery's shutting water supply off and a few love taps, i was a little upset it failed after less than two years. I decided to try my luck at there warranty policy and send it back per instructions on the Melnor web site. I got a new one back in the mail in very short order, no questions asked! Although it broke sooner than expected, ill keep buying Melnor products as long as thay stand by them!

Why the sudden price increase

Works well and was going to buy another one but you must think it's suddenly a hot item because you raised the price by $7...I'll shop around or wait til the price goes down again

Ok I am a little fussy but was hoping the unit was a little larger in real life than it appears. 4 Outputs is nice but the fan style makes it difficult at best to hook 4 hoses to. A horizontal log 4 90degree outputs would make more sense and it would make the supplied quick disconnect useable which in this arrangement is a joke. Hung the box connected three hoses and used the quick disconnect and the combine load on the quick disconnect causes it to leak like a sieve. Instructions are also written in Chinese speak so to speak if you get my drift and make too many assumptions.

Buttons are sticky

Sometimes the buttons stick so you can't put this timer in manual.

My second unit

The timer works quite well. It is simpler than the first unit I owned, which would allow 4 times each cycle, but this one is just fine. Two of the four leaked when I first got it but I just ran each zone for one minute hoping the cycling would maybe reseat the valve, and it worked. (Later I found in the the instructions to do just that. Doh!) I find it to be indispensable for my garden drip system.

Works well but..

It works well for my dripper zones but only after I added a pressure reducer between the faucet and the controller. Apparently my water pressure is so high that the electric valves wouldn't open.

Worst product

By far the worst product I have ever purchased online. Water comes out of everywhere, unfortunately not the places that it should. $100 up the wazoo
