Great upgrade!
Recently have been needing to replace a few garden nozzles as I left some out over winter... oops! This Melnor garden hose nozzle is an exceptional value for its quality and durability. The metal body of the nozzle gives it a premium look and feel. Its built heavy duty but isn't too heavy which is really nice. The nozzle is also incredibly easy to use, with a simple twist and turn mechanism that allows you to adjust the water flow and spray pattern to your liking. Whether you need a gentle mist for delicate flowers or a powerful jet for cleaning stubborn dirt Overall for the price, its a winner, it seems like an upgrade from the nozzles its replacing and hopefully can last a few times being left out in winter!

Appears Well Made
This hose nozzle is the best I've found. Its primary material is metal. I use quick-connect connectors for connecting nozzle to a hose and the hose to the outside faucet. This faucet accepts the quick-connects very well since the quick-connect parts are brass. I cannot comment on durability since I have used this nozzle only a few times but compared to the cheaply made plastic nozzles, I am guessing it will last for more than one season. All other nozzles have been primarily made from plastic and I have to replace them annually. As long as I don't let these freeze with water in them, I'm comfortable in suggesting they'll last longer. Time will tell.

For the price it's worth it but....
If you do some regular maintenance on this it can last you a very long time. I did not and I'm regretting it. I figured the internal parts were going to be stainless steel but they are not. I winterize my stuff every year and unscrew the nozzle and put it away with the valve open so it can dry out but the next one I purchase I'm going to take it apart and lube it up so it doesn't corrode like this. The water flows right past these rusty chunks and it caused the tips to plug up that's why I took it apart to begin with. Don't make my mistake, take it apart every fall lube it up and then store it for the winter

Works well
Handle is easy to operate, don't need to pump iron to use. Water stream is very satisfactory. Saw the item reviewed on Wirecutter site and they were right.

Solid Sturdy Nozzle [...But Didn't Last One Season]
This review is for the Melnor 65116-AMZ XT Metal 10-Pattern Nozzle with QuickConnect Product Adapter Amazon Bundle, Multi, Heavyweight Thumb Control. I bought it back in April and have been using it just about every other day (sometimes twice a day) to water the plants around the house. The nozzle itself weighs about one pound (roughly 0.5kg). I picked this specific model with the "thumb" trigger because as an avid gardener, I know how painful it can be after awhile with the traditional rear or front trigger nozzle. I can spend 1-2 hours watering all my plants and my hands would get carpal tunnel just from squeezing the trigger for too long. Yes, most have a way to keep the trigger pressed but I find those very cumbersome. Trust me, the "thumb" control is the best way regardless of whether it is a wand type or a gun type nozzle. I've tried the different patterns on this nozzle (center, jet, mist, etc.) but for most of my daily use, it's to the shower pattern that I always return. As with ALL nozzles that I have used over the years, there is always some water leak/drip around the head of the nozzle so I was not too bothered by that. What bothered me instead with this nozzle is that I find the close/open thumb trigger to be counter-intuitive. Pushing forward means turn off / close and pulling back means to turn on / open. I've been using this nozzle since April and I still get this confused!? To me, pushing forward should be turn on like you're push out water, pulling back should be to turn off and close the valve. It's as if "righty tighty" is now "righty losey" and "lefty losey" is now "lefty tighty" to me. Arghh! Also, they could improve on this model by making the nozzle swivel. I have another nozzle that does this and so when I move the sweep the nozzle around from left to right, the nozzle rotates but not the hose itself. This is a great feature and I would look for it should I be in the market for another nozzle again. In the past, nozzles usually only last me about 2 years and I have to get a new one because they leak too much or become brittle somehow being left outside all winter in most cases. However, those were not metal and were much flimsier. This one remains to be seen. I didn't use the quick connect so will not comment on it. Other than that, I do like this nozzle and hope it will last longer than a couple years. I like the heavy weight to it so it's not just flailing around as I'm winding back the hose to the reel. I'd recommend it and give it 4.5/5.0 - 07/31/2022 08/02/2022 Edit: Revised comment on thumb trigger. 05/05/2023: I was hoping to get 2 years out of this one but after one season of use (actually only from April 2022 until October 2022) and a winter stored dry in the garage I plugged this nozzle back in today and water came spraying out everywhere: front, of course expected, but also out through the trigger, through the side plate, and even through the top. I was soaked by it before I could shut off the spigot. Wow! This looked nice and solid but out of dry storage over winter, it is now junk so I have to find yet another nozzle that will work and last for more than a season or two. I downgraded my review to 2 stars because I liked it for the most part but only lasted one season and died in winter storage in the garage!?

Was SUPPOSED to be a better sprayer....but isnt.
Looks good in the picture...has the features we wanted...metal body...thumb valve control....yeah, we'd be willing to pay a bit more for a sprayer that has all that... ...except when it leaks around the thumb valve control on first use. Thought we'd try it for a bit and see if the seals around that control would 'settle in'...or at least if we stopped moving the control that the dripping would stop...but it didnt. Took it off the house and took a close look: the clearance between the control itself and the sprayer body changes as you move it....means that something inside is not parallel/miscast and there is variance in the seal. Immediately sending this back; we've already bought 2 other sprayers and most of these are now junk products as they are import clones of previously-good products. Had higher hopes for a brand name we've used previously and their claims of making a superior product...that failed on Day 1.

Attach directly to the hose
I was hesitant from all the low pressure reviews. When I was connecting with a quick connect I had very low pressure and I was very disappointed. So I tried direct connecting it and it was everything I hoped for. I’ll be storing it inside when Winter comes. It’s very sturdy, larger than you think, and the jet function will blow you away. Connect it right and you won’t be disappointed.

This failed 3 years to the day!
I bought this for the thumb shut off and it is a spectacular sprayer, but there is something wrong inside and it now leaks like a sieve from between the outer ring and the orange housing. It also leaks slightly when turned off. I am dissappointed because everything else on this sprayer is high quality - and you can see by the photos it is well cared for - but the inside seals fail somehow and even after having it apart, I cannot see what is failing. It seems like maybe there used to be a plastic ring that is wearing down? Hopefully the company sees this because it is a shame that everything else is a great sturdy quality but the plastic innards don’t stand up and now it needs to be replaced because of one manufacturing shortcut :(

Leaking After 2 Months
We bought this sprayer because it had steel parts (and was quite a bit more expensive than the ones we bought last year) and thought it would last longer. We started using it the end of May 2021. Around the first week of July it started leaking. So when you spray water at the grass or plant, there is a rather lot of water dribbling down the hose and ending on the pavers. Very frustrating. We bought cheap $6.99 sprayers last year and they started leaking around the same time but at least we didn’t spend a lot of money on them.

Leaked from day one
Update. 2 weeks after the return window, it has completely busted and just spews water everywhere. Piece of garbage. We got one with a faulty valve, or the valve is a poor design and severe weak point. Thought the advertised "industrial heavy-weight construction" and easy thumb control would be good since our toddler thinks the hose is the best toy ever. Was severely disappointed when the thumb control valve leaked out its side from the very first time we used it. Initially it only leaked in the on position, so I was just going to live with it. However, now a few weeks in, the valve is not fully closing and it is also dripping out the nozzle end if we don't shut off the tap.
