I have three — no batteries in any of them
Robust — about six years old now. One is EDC for short visits downtown. Both are for day-trips or longer. Pockets wear out. Pockets lack good closures. Stuffed pockets are uncomfortable. These hang from any belt on any waist using two Condor 6” Mod Straps each. The wallet is thin and light, made from synthetic sail cloth — it was getting ground up in my jeans pockets. There is a steel-diamond plate inside for edge sharpening and RF blocking. Outside is a stainless mirror that is also an RF shield. The lipbalm tubes are custom blends of my own making. The key is just in case. Some room remains in the everyday pouch. The second pouch is oddments for more vigorous outings. Two flashlights because carrying a tube that is only AAA storage seemed lackluster. The blue spudging tool is a… An ancient leatherman no longer available is a treasure. The Cha-O-Ha tool is the best one I have found. The stainless clothespin and flashlight diffusor let me use the flashlights attached to clothing and in different settings. The CrocoTool is no longer made. There is still a bit of room remaining. An untucked shirttail covers both of them on my left hip. I am BIG on MOLLE pouches. Only a few are Maxpedition due to price-point. They are the best finished though Hazard4 is real close & Condor is my basic go-to though several others were selected for size or shape considerations. The plastic battery magazines hold batteries in my flashlight kit — yes, I have a problematic habit regarding tools, flashlights, knives, pouches, etc. Don’t laugh — you have read this all the way through!

Overall, very nice - AA and AAA adapter sleeves ?
I have come to expect first rate products from Maxpedition, and this pouch did not disappoint. It is well made from heavy materials and should last for a very long time. There are 3 x 3 molle attachment loops on the back, but no belt loop. However, ALICE clips could be used for belt attachments. I carry (3) CR123A, (3) AA Lithium and (2) AAA Lithium batteries and the enclosed battery case is an interesting piece. It is made from a fairly heavy plastic material (aprox .050 thick) and seems durable. It fits well in the nylon pouch. The CR123A batteries fit like a glove. The AA batteries are held in place by (4) ridges molded into the lower half of the compartment. They rattle a little when the case is closed. I may make sleeve bushings for the upper half of these 3 compartments to keep the batteries secured in place. The AAA batteries just lay in their compartments and rattle a lot ! I have already turned (2) "adapter sleeves" from aluminum to fit snugly in the compartment and hold the AAA battery in place. Maxpedition might consider offering "adapters" to give these smaller batteries a better fit in this case. Overall, I'm pleased with this pouch/case combination and would recommend it to anyone who is only packing CR123A's, or can tolerate a little rattle from their smaller batteries (or has lathe access to make adapters).

Great belt pouch for small EDC items if you have Velcro strips
I use this as a belt pouch for EDC items. I use two velcro strips as belt loops (picked up from local hardware store). For my purposes, I carry alcohol swabs, gauze, band-aids, a lighter, a whistle, a small diamond file, lip balm, a LM Juice MT, a Space pen, and a mini tape measure, and it could fit a couple more items if needed. I bought a second for a spare, as I don't know how many years the velcro will last, as I use it a lot... although I will sew new velcro on when that happens. The only down side I can think of is that opening it is loud compared to zippered or button options.

Good sized pouch, can't hold much
I bought this pouch for two reasons: 1) for its battery insert, and 2) for use as a small pouch mounted on either my belt or side of my MOLLE-compatible bags. The pouch itself is of excellent construction. The design of it is very good, and the battery case insert fits perfectly fine inside of it, as does a smart phone, folding knife, iPod, 5 12-guage shotshells, or anything else of comparable size. If you're a camera person, the pouch and insert are useful for holding and organizing spare batteries. The insert has two colors, which can be used to distinguish between full and used batteries. The insert can hold 4 AA or 6 AAA batteries. If you want to use it as a belt pouch for your phone or other item, you'll need 2 or 3 MOLLE attachment straps, depending on how secure you want the pouch to be. I personally throw the battery case with spare batteries for my flashlights inside my pack and attach this to the outside and put my phone in it.

Makes a Great Wallet
I purchased this battery pouch around Christmas 2015 with the intent of using it as a wallet. Since that time, I have been using it daily for that purpose, and I have not once been disappointed with my decision. I carry my wallet in my left front pants pocket. It fits well, has plenty of room to hold what I need without it being too large, isn't too bulky, and isn't uncomfortable. If you are looking for a good wallet, you might give this a try. Five years later (11/4/20), I'm still using this battery pouch as a wallet. So far, it has met my expectations and more. I'm very pleased with it. This pouch is amazing! I can carry cash folded in half or in fourths, and I have about a dozen cards, such as driver's license, credit/debit cards, work ID cards, gift cards, etc. The pouch holds quite a bit, but fits well in my front left pant's pocket. After 5 years, it's holding up well, too. No problems with quality. If you're looking for a good wallet, give this a try.

Size comparison photos
Nice little product. Feels indestructible in that usual Maxpedition manner and has a nice big tab on the flap and a drainage grommet in the base, it should take whatever you want to throw at it. The plastic battery compartment is extremely well made also. Someone mentions rattling batteries online elsewhere but honestly I don't know where they got that idea. Maybe if you're transporting triple A's? I use mine for AA & CR123a's and it works great. There's a little ridge inside that means the smaller CR123a's don't jump around all the time (see photos) Whilst both the pouch and the battery pack are very well designed though, as another reviewer said, who wants to carry batteries on your belt all the time? I tend to just throw the battery pack into my bag and use the pouch for other stuff. I've included some photos with a few other items for scale, the tin is altoids sized. The battery pack itself fits snugly and it measures roughly 115mm x 70mm x 20mm, I doubt you'd want anything larger than that in there

Solid max quality
I use torches a fair amount and this is perfect for keeping batteries organised and in one place. No more rooting around in the bottom of a bag!

Great quality
Like all Maxpedition products this is great quality. i don't use the battery container with the pouch. I find them more useful used separate.
