I wish I was as tough
I love this bag. I got it to replace a similar type bag from eagle creek that was a little lighter and smaller that my gf has decided belongs to her. So if you're looking for something less tactical I'd take a look at Eagle Creek. That being said I love this bag. Yes its expensive, but man this thing is quality through and through. Do Note, that when I ordered it the picture showed a black bag with beige zippers and detail--looked sick as f**k. But the one I got was all black... which I think I prefer for actual use. It has plenty of compression staps, solid zippers, and zip up internal space dividers. It has a padded carry handle on top, a messenger bag style sling strap with multiple attachment points, backpack straps that are stow-able, and carry handles on the small sides. All that, and its got a top pocket, a side pocket that runs the long with some pockets, two internal mesh pockets on the lid, and pals webbing. Its been dragged and dropped and over packed and closed in vehicle doors, latched to tops of trucks and its still going strong. So while it is expensive, this is a case where you're getting what you pay for. As to wether or not you actually need all that, thats entire up to you and your pursuits. The biggest down side of this bag is how easy it is to get heavy. Oh sure I'll throw that in, it will fit. Yeah might as well clip that on two. Oh I can strap my toiletry bag on the outside, so more room inside for something else, etc etc etc. Stuffed, it will definitely not fit in the carry on sample bin. However I have gotten it on stuffed, strapped to my back and had no problems fitting in the over head bins. Also when its medium full, it will fit in the sample bin. So far this bag has been good to me, on hot asphalt, wet muddy forest floors, furnace desert sands, freezing rocky crag's and strapped to chrome and steel vehicle bars. I thinks its safe to say this bag is much tougher then me and will accompany to any adventure I can dream up.

Study the dimensions, is this really what you want
This may be one of the best quality bags on the market. And it is acurately described in the advertisement in terms of materials, and its size. They led me to beleive that this is first and foremost, a duffle bag, and can possible be used as a backpack. I found the opposite to be true. I do not want a backpack, and so I returned it. I need a duffle bag to hold 5 days of clothing, beach towels, swim suits, sport jacket, spare shoes, etc. I need a duffle bag to fit in the cargo carrier that is on the roof of my SUV. It does fit in the cargo carrier, but it is a poor design as a duffle bag. It will not hold this much stuff, even though it is 30+ inches long. The issue is that it is very shallow. Most duffle bags are very deep, and this gives them volume to hold stuff. This is designed to be worn as a backpack, and to keep the balance with its carrier, the bag is very shallow. When they designed this, its primary purpose is for the backpack use case. I have a 511 Tacticle Duffle Bag that is only 24 inches long, and it holds 1.5 times the capacity of this much longer Maxpedition. To be fair, the 511 Lima bag is a true duffle bag. But it is currently sold out with no mention of a available date. This is why I tried the Maxpedition, and why I am disappointed. I am reluctantly returning this to Amazon, and I am thrilled that they agreed to take the return of this unused item. Why 3 stars? It gets 3 stars because they led me to beleive that this was a duffle bag that "could" be used as backpack. The opposite is true. Why not zero stars? This is probably the highest quality bag that I have ever owned. They everage is 3 stars.

Good bag could be better
To start with I am a huge fan of Maxpedition gear and have lost count of all of the different ones that I have. I received the Doppledufflel yesterday. I spent an hour or so checking it out before I decided to keep it. There were a few things that I thought they could have done a better job on. The first one is the shoulder strap. All of my other Max gear has a quick detach/swivel clip. This one does not. You have to hand feed the strap each time and readjust the length. This was a major pain. So I remembered I had an old soft side cooler I no longer use that had the clips I needed. So I cut them off the old cooler and attached the Max strap to them and now it works perfectly. Easy on/off and no needed adjustment. The main problem solved. The other issue is with a couple of the zippers. There is one on the top compartment that has double pulls. Kind of an overkill since the total width of the opening is only about 6". Then there are the front and back pockets, which are the same in width, are around 14" wide and only have one pull each. Double pulls would have been more convenient on them. The jury is still out on the backpack straps. I really do not know if I will ever use them. They add extra weight, bulk and expense. If they eliminated these and used the savings they could beef up the shoulder strap, add the quick detach swivels and the needed double pulls which would make for a better bag. I will keep mine especially after I resolved the shoulder strap issue. I have also removed the paracord zipper pulls and added custom paracord pulls, the Max luggage lock and Max luggage info tag.

Solid with some weird features
First of all, Maxpedition quality is wonderful. This pack is spacious, very well made, and the top and side handles are very comfortable and accessible. That said, I really would have preferred this without backpack straps, or at least the option to remove them. Maxpedition's backpack straps aren't very ergonomic and it's strange that they're not removable on a bag like this. I'd much rather detach them and forget about it. This is an otherwise great bag. I use it to back video lights, stands, diffusers and batteries. I wish they made camera bags!

Well thought out access abilities. Traditional strength an quality.
The media could not be loaded. Great design for stowage and capabilities for accessing on the go. YKK Zippers will last years of rugged use/abuse. Integrated MOLLE for any additional pouches an tools. Great value for the money

Impressive looking travel bag
Look like it can last a long time but it can look a bit less "tactical" so that it can blend in as a normal bag. The price is unbeatable and would actually be buying another one but unfortunately, the priced changed after I bought mine. Looking forward to using it often.
