Great lock for "no key needed" outdoor location

Matches lock purchased over 5 years ago, so is perfect to set same combination to get in either one of my two gates on my property. No need to have a key, and they hold up well considering outdoors. Old lock has only lost the combination weather cover, but still works fine.

Not easy to read numbers in the dark, bottom rubber seal broke off in a couple months

The lock works fine so far. It has a rubber seal on the bottom that can be removed and put back when using the combination. However, this rubber seal fell off after only a couple months of light use. I am also not happy that the numbers are very hard to read in the dark with a flashlight. When you shine the flashlight there is a terrible glare and you can't see anything. There needs to be a way to make the numbers visible in the dark. There is another cover on the side for something and we try to keep that closed. So far this works fine in the weather, but as I mentioned, we lock & unlock in the dark and it is nearly impossible to see the numbers since they are all bright silver and the numbers are not distinguished from the background. I do like that this has a key, and we often use that more than the combo due to nighttime problems mentioned. The lock seems very sturdy and the hasp is longer than I expected. We use it to lock a gate. It is a decent lock but needs improvement. I'm not sure why Master Lock has not thought to make this easier to use in the dark.

Not so weatherproof

The lock seems pretty robust. It will be used in an outdoor setting, so I am hoping that the lock is weatherproof as advertised. There is a rubber cover that covers the tumbler. It is very flimsy and does not stay closed. I doubt it is going to provide much weatherproofing of the tumbler. I like it that it has a long shank because I am using it with a heavy duty (1/2") locking cable and I needed the shank to be long enough to accomodate the cable and heavy vinyl covering. I choose the lock because of the weatherproof advertising and the reputation of the name brand. I plan to use a silicone spray in the tumbler to hopefully keep it clean and operating, but I wish the rubber cover had been more substantial. I did not know when I ordered it that it would also have a key as an option to open it if I forget the combination or the tumbler locks up. There is just one key though, so I plan to have a second cut at the local key shop.

Exactly what I needed

Wanted a lock for my bikes. I wanted a safe lock combination lock so I don't need to carry keys on my rides. I love the fact that you can set your own pin and also that you can use a key and a combination to open it. Really recommend it!

Great Lock, But It's Hard to Read the Numbers

Master Lock is a terrific brand of lock, and this padlock is particularly good because it has a longer shackle, allowing easier mobility in turning the lock to set or open the locking mechanism. However, this particular lock is difficult to use at night because the shiny chrome locking mechanism reflects light (i.e., from a headlamp, phone light, etc.), making it almost impossible to read the numbers. Too bad the numbers aren't painted to glow in the dark.

Gret product, could be better

The slide cover for the key port slides down very easy. If you corrected this be perfect. Not a show stopper but room for improvement.

Bought 2, only 1 works

Was not thrilled with the quantity. Had to send 1 back & the other one is acting up. It hasn't even rained on them yet

cheap manufactured combination . Buy a squire padlock instead .

had these locks 15 years ago and were good. Needed replacement x2. New lock the combination is now made from Monkey metal . its difficult to turn without moving the adjacent numbers. locks up in cold weather and most of all the engraving is difficult to see in poor light or artificial light. Buy a squire pad lock , much much higher quality !

Sturdy and tough - update

Just an update after using for a season. When there is freeze and thaw this locked as freeze up and I cannot turn the numbers also the rubber piece that insulates the Call Maneesh in Numbers does not work well to seal it and this area got frozen as well. For the price of this luck I downgrade it to maybe 2 1/2 to 3 stars now

Good for groups - no key needed

Great shackle. Long enough for cube trucks. I use it with my team so no one needs to carry a key, or have the fear of losing a key. Looks beefy so it’s definitely a good deterrent.

lock randomly unlocks without setting combination

4 times now the lock has just unlocked when i started turning the first of the 4 wheels to unlock it. this is a huge risk to my shed being accessed! the numbers are very hard to read in low light or with a flashlight. water collects in lock/wheels and freezes. i have to oil the lock frequently to keep the wheels moving. i bought this to replace the ABUS all weather lock, but the ABUS lock is overall much better quality (even though it broke after 3 only years). I would not buy this lock again. an unreliable lock is useless.

Do you ever not have your key? Well this padlock is you solution it has a pass code on the bottom with a key backup.
