large but thin
I was afraid to make this purchase after reading all the reviews about the palette breaking in half. So, when it arrived, I took the cardboard that the palette was laying on and cut out a template. Using a few small pieces of Scotch tape, I fastened it to the palette and no problems. This is my first time painting, so one thing I did learn is to make sure the paint is mixed well on the palette. If not, it will slide across/off the palette. Following Bob Ross on DVD, I am glad that I ordered this large palette. I had used another smaller one prior to this and there was simply not enough room to mix the paints together. Overall, I think this palette is a bit expensive. If it was twice the thickness, it would be a 5-star value. ( Some reviewers suggested buying thick plexiglass. I disagree because, you need a special saw to cut thick plexiglass, you will have to find a way to sand the edges so they are smooth and plexiglass has become expensive over the past several months. It is cheaper just to buy this palette and make adjustments. It would even be cheaper to buy two of them and glue them together.) Cleaning up oil paints is a mess, but the palette does clean up easily. Happy Painting.

did they gorilla glue sprayed the stickers on the palette? Good for left handed painters
I have been working on getting the stickers they stuck TO the palette off for 2 weeks. The stuff flat out will not come off. If you paint left handed(hold palette on right hand) you'd be okay, stickers on bottom so no problem with mixing areas. Unfortunately I am a right handed painter, hold the palette in my left and the glue residue is very texturized...and smack dab where you need to mix colors. I'm using a razor blade on this bad boy and not really having luck. So, while i like the palette a great deal, I hope the company will either stop using that high a quality of glue, or don't put stickers on the palette, it comes wrapped, put the logos n stuff on there. I'm still glad I bought it.

Great product!
I love all the Bob Ross products and own most of them. They are a great value for the money and are holding up well with frequent use. This palette is huge with plenty of room to mix colors and yet is well balanced and easy to hold!!!

Good, but Do NOT Use a Paint Scraper Tool
One day, I left the oil paint on the palette over night. The paint had hardened. I used a paint scraper to clean the palette, and it ended up leaving very deep, ugly indents everywhere. I’ve done this with numerous times with wooden palettes in the past, and it never did that to an extent where the palette was ruined. I think it seems fine when you use a palette knife (like the one Bob uses in his paintings) to scrape, but DO NOT USE A PAINT SCRAPER TOOL. That being said, I love the size of it. It’s the largest palette on Amazon and it’s shaped exactly like Bob Ross’. It fits snug against my arm, but it gets heavy after a while and I find myself stiff and having to lay it down periodically. It’s great if you’re using 4” brushes and a multitude of colors, but If I’m doing a piece with fewer colors, I prefer the lighter, smaller palettes. For example, I wouldn’t use this for portrait painting where the brushes are smaller and the colors can be mixed in smaller pools. I also can’t find any disposable palette paper in this size. It’s a great palette, but you really cannot afford to skip cleaning it right after you use it. I hope this was helpful to you!

Comfortable
How can you go wrong with a Bob Ross design? This will hold plenty enough paint and give you ample mixing space! Clean up is a breeze. Can be scratched easily with a pallette knife if you're not careful.

A BOB FAN? YOU NEED HIS PALETTE
This palette is huge but easy to hold and I'm 75 and ONLY a mere woman. You need the space to draw out the pains. I ran out of space on a smaller palette. Mine has had lots of use and is now opaque but it doesn't affect usage at all. It's solid and strong. I can't apply sheer to it and don't see the relevance. If you're doing Bob go for it.

Just started painting and found this is great to mix paint and show the colour before applying to the canvas Although it is big, it is not heavy and is well balanced

MUST HAVE ...
Before it arrived, I wondered if it would too big and cumbersome. On the contrary, it is an absolute essential for mixing paint because of the generous sized surface. Other pallettes were too small and frustrating having to keep them clean, or using tear-off sheets which can get very expensive. It has a great feel to it and it really is kind to your brushes too because of its smoothness, the best I've used so far! Highly recommend if you are serious about doing a lot of oil painting, this is the pallette to invest in.

I have not used it yet but I have 2 Bob Ross palettes before and both cracked and broke at the finger holes?? Hope I have better luck with unit, I cleaned palettes with paint thinner before on cracked units ??? Thank Harold
