AMAZING Color in Magenta. Some Loose Feathers Poking Out but Overall Happy (see Update)

UPDATE: I ended up returning this and buying the same one again. The new one does not seem to have the same feather issues. So, if you are having this problem and it bothers you and you are still within the return window, perhaps try getting a new one. ORIGINAL REVIEW: As some others have mentioned, the magenta color is more like a deep purplish color and less like a reddish wine color. I actually prefer it to magenta as it has kind of a vampy vibe. I really really love the color. Fit-wise, I purchased the medium size. I am now nine months pregnant so it is hard for me to tell how well this will fit but I purchased based on my pre-pregnancy measurements (130 pounds, approx. 37-29-36). At the moment, I am 140 pounds at 37 weeks pregnant so I obviously cannot zip the jacket up over my belly to try it on. Instead, put the coat over my arms and shoulders and closed it with my hands over my bust. It seems like it will be a good fit (my bust is somewhere around 36-38" at the moment which is similar to my pre-pregnancy size). It is a little big in the arms on me but a small would have probably been too small in the bust so... I also think the hip may end up being a little big on me (I am very narrow hipped--around 36" when not pregnant). Again, my thought is that a small would have been tight at the bust which ends up being a big problem with coats if you want to wear a sweater underneath or anything more than a thin t-shirt. I did see a few little feathers poking out here and there which is a bummer for sure :( I still feel I got an amazing price on this and that it is a really high quality item (plus I love the color). Unless the feather situation worsens as it hangs in the closet over the next couple of weeks, my plan is to keep the jacket. At some point when I can try it on without an enormous baby belly to make sure it really fits, I will do that. At that point, if all is well, I will fluff in the dryer to see if that will help increase the loft and reduce the poking out of feathers.

Feels Cheap

Bought this to stay warm on a hiking trip and needed something lightweight. It did keep me warm, but I did have a few layers underneath the jacket as well. I bought the S and am 5 4' and weigh 135. The feathers started coming out after a few hours of wear! I also did not like that it did not have a hood or strings to pull the waist in. I decided to return and find something else for our backpacking trips. This jacket was 600 fill power and for something a bit cheaper I was able to find a lightweight Columbia omni-heat jacket with a hood, longer in the back to where it covers my booty and 800 fill power (warmer than 600). I feel like for the same price you can find something better.

Purchased at about $50 on open-box return but like new condition.

For the $50, this was excellent value for money. Purchase the exact same jacket one year earlier for different family member for $60 (also open box return). A bit of loss with feathers, but not too bad. Keeps loft, does well with the water-resistance (not water-proof). Warm and cozy but not too much bulk for every-day wear in the Pacific Northwest.

Stylish, fits great

I love the fit and the color. Like most down jackets it tends to lose a fair amount of feathers. It is not super warm. Great on chilly but not freezing days. I am glad I got it for such a good price. Marmot tends to overinflate their prices.

Classic puffer that does its job!

Lightweight and warm, I love Marmot jackets. I am losing a few feathers, but I hope that stops after a few more wears. All puffy coats look puffy, but I have received compliments about this "athletic" fit being as sleek as it probably can be. This has been great for leisurely dog walks and bus stop waits in low-40s temps and imagine it would be great for activity down to 30s or 20s with the right layering.

Warm jacket, but loosing feathers

My wife likes the new jacket. Only issue is feathers coming out through shell. The jacket is very warm and thick. Hopefully it stops loosing feathers at some point. (Maybe up to 10 have worked their way out in 3 days of wear). Outside of that, she likes the jacket.

Feathers coming out everywhere!

Had the coat for a month. Feathers are sneaking out everywhere. The fabric weave is NOT tight enough. The seams are not tight enough. I find feathers all over the place - in my car, on my furniture, on the floor, and mostly poking me through the inside of the jacket, and poking ME! I'm a big Marmot fan... but this coat is TWO THUMBS DOWN. I looked at my husbands Patagonia down coat - and it has a few tiny feathers ... but not nearly the amount that my new coat has. I almost wonder if it's a counterfeit? Do not buy. Do not. I would have returned it, but was on a winter trip and the return period lapsed while I was gone. I'm stuck with it. NOT happy.

True to size

I loved this coat but I had to return due to size. I ordered up knowing I would want to layer on cooler days.

Weird fit and too small

I was excited to buy this coat for an upcoming hiking trip. But it fit really weirdly. Really long arms, weirdly wide shoulders and ample room in the chest, but tight in the hips/bum/middle. I don't get it. My proportions are pretty average, I think. I usually wear a 14 or L or XL, depending on fit. I bought an XL assuming I'd have loads of room only to zip it up and feel four months pregnant. Nice coat, but probably not a good option for curvy ladies like me.

fits true to size, beautiful jacket, excellent quality

This Marmot jacket is nicely tailored, a bit longer in the back, fits very comfortable. It keeps my warm, can still ear a thin sweater underneath. When our Canadian winter gets too cold, I wear it underneath a larger winter coat. Layers are your friend here. I purchased Columbia winter boots in the same color and am very happy with the combination. There are way too many dull and boring colors out there, this Marmot jacket brightens my day! And of course the Marmot quality is always appreciated.

Brand name vs performance

Nice looking jacket. I bought it for my wife for Christmas, I wanted her to have a really good warm and nice looking jacke. What I didn't know, my daughter bought her a jacket as well, although she could only afford a $50.00 jacket. To my amazement the jackets looked very similar but I thought the Marmot jacket would shine by being so much warmer, nope, I was wrong. I learned that I bought a brand name only as the jackets performance was no better than a jacket a third it's price. I like brands but I would like it much more if there was something actually better than having a name embroidered on the jacket. Three stars is generous.

Quality Down Jacket

Great warm jacket, and color is restful green with tone of blue. Very happy with it, warm and wind-proof. Will be happy to use even on cool summer evenings in the mountains.
