Hydro Foil

I installed the Marine Dynamics stingray on 25 ft offshore Walk arround powered b ya 225 Yamaha ( fused on the great lakes), A slight amount of modifications were made to satisfy me but not required. The Hydro Foil was installed mainly to get my boat on plane quicker,which it did, other benefits I noticed were being able to stay on plane at lower RPMs holds bow down in rough water ,and minimizes trim tab adjustments

Works when it doesn't fall off.

Update: I've taken the boat out twice now and each time the thing wiggled loose and has almost fallen off. I'm upset that this thing sucks at staying attached. It actually works but it needs serious design changes to stay seated. If my anode comes loose it will hit the prop and I'm not taking that chance. Instead I'm ordering an SE 300 which stays attached much better. I read multiple reviews on other sites like Overtons and they seemed mixed. Many people claimed the item worked while others said it didn't and pointed more towards it falling off. I noticed their are no reviews on Amazon for this item so I figured I would try to give some feedback. It installed no problem.. I even called the manufacture before install and asked why they recommended that I "not" drill holes at the front. I have an Alpha 1 GENII and there is no space on either side so I figured you would possibly drill holes through the cavitation plate to ensure a secure fit. First of all when I called I got some guys voice mail who then called me back a few hours later. In other words.. it sounds like it's a small company and the guy wasn't very helpful. He basically said drilling holes puts pressure on the front tabs which it's not designed for. Then he said if you want to drill you should purchase one of my bolt on Hydrofoils. I was like.. WTH!! I don't want to drill, I just don't want the thing to fall off like most of the reviews say. He then said it should stay in place with just the Anode. I installed it, used the LockTite and cranked it down so hard it actually bent and cracked my Anode. Now I'm ordering a new one in hopes the old one doesn't break and fall off. Performance: With the Hyrdofoil installed I noticed an immediate improvement it the pocket time and the overall stability on rough water was much better. I was able to plain much faster at lower speeds and the thing actually works well. I drove around for about 3 hours got back and it was still on there but loose. One of the plastic tabs also came out despite super gluing the things on there. Right now I have it taken off while I get a longer bolt and more LockTite, I've also had to fill the front tab with epoxy and re-secure the remaining tab with expoxy since Super Glue doesn't seem to be enough to hold it in place. Overall the item works and I love the way it increases the handling of the boat, but I'm starting to think I should have purchased a bolt on model. Once I get a longer bolt and some LockTite I'll give it another shot and see how it does.

These hydrofoils are great!

I bought my boat already equipped with two of these hydrofoils. I’ve ran this hydrofoils for ten years and only now I lost one by hitting a large cargo rope that wrapped around my prop then rapped around my hydrofoil causing it to break off. I then took off the other hydrofoil and ran my boat without any hydrofoils, big differents.I could not plane my boat, I could not lower my bow to cut thru wave. That brings me hear to amazon to find another one. These hydrofoils are great!

Came off

Came off and lost it first run! I had read a review that had happened to someone else. But I assumed if I installed exactly as directed it would be ok. I can’t figure how it came off? But it did ☹️

Not strong puts a lot of torque on cavitation plate

On a 300hp verado , Made the boat ride great but it is very flexible. It cracked my cavitation plate on my lower unit . With only 1hr use . Not happy with this purchase .

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!

Don't waste your money! My husband purchased this for our new boat, the package says "no drill", but you must drill holes in your motor if you have a newer motor. By the end of the first day in the fresh water lake, the paint was already starting to come off, and the gold medallion was somewhere at the bottom of the lake. By the end of the second day, all of the paint had come off. The fin is made of plastic. We contacted the manufacturer about the one year warranty, the representative's instructions were to take the fin off of the boat, "take it out in a field, spray paint it with bright paint, then put it in a recycle bin", while taking pictures to send to the manufacturer in order to get a replacement fin. I guess I have to go purchase a $10 can of bright paint. You'd think as much as this thing costs that the manufacturer would stand behind their product. What a joke! If I could give this product zero stars, I would. We didn't even notice much difference in the way the boat got up on plane and now we have holes in our motor.
