Should a serious camper buy these?
One thing I love to do while camping is grill meat over an open fire. ESPECIALLY sausage and hot dogs. Or pineapple. Or starbursts, or biscuit dough... mushrooms, bell peppers, onions... We're an adventurous bunch. I have some heavy duty grill sticks in my arsenal, but I had no access to any of my regular collection for my last camping trip which led me to trying out these very flimsy looking, light weight cooking sticks. THEY DID GREAT They look flimsy but they're way more solid than I expected. The telescoping feature is well designed and even when fully extended they felt sturdy. The base rotates which I didn't think would be a big deal, but it actually is quite a nice feature! It makes it easy to rotate heat around your Weiner. Low down Affordable Sturdy Holds a hot dog with no problems Excellent from marshmallows

Classic Old School Rotating Telescope Roasting Stick Good for Marshmallow over campfire
My family purchased this 4-5 this rotating roasting forks about 7 or 8 years ago and we still use them every summer car camping trip. These are all performed well as long as we take good care of cleaning the tarnished or blacken tips with good scrubs and steel wool to polish them after they get burnt over the campfire. It has a truly rotating stick meaning that you could hold the red plastic ring to keep the direction, then another hand to rotate the wooden handle. You might think it's so easy to rotate any stick without this feature, but if you have roasted something with a long stick, you really want this feature. That's why kids and their camping friends fight for this particular stick compared to some other non-rotating sticks.

Love how it condenses down into small size
I hate it when people say oh I haven't used it yet but it looks great. Well I'm going to say that myself. It's long past camping season when I found this, but I played with it when I got it and I think it will be just as strong or stronger than my existing hot dog roaster. I love the wood handle, and I especially love how small this folds down into. I can't wait to use it next summer. I even bought a second one after I got the first one.

Meat or Sausage stayed on fork.
When placing a big 1 and 1/2-pound Sausage skewed on the fork and cooking over a fire, the sausage never slipped or fell off. It was a nice clean cook over the fire. The handle extended out far a strong position over the fire and it handled the sausage weight while my body stood very far from the fire. No burning body sensation while cooking.

Very nice
Great length. It allows you to twist easily while roasting.

Perfect
At first, I thought it seemed flimsy because the handle rotates separately from the fork, but then I realized this is an ingenious design feature. The red collar at the top of the handle acts as a sort of dial, allowing you to rotate the fork with your thumb and index finger while holding the handle. This way you can rotate your food very easily with one hand. On top of that, the telescoping allows it to be very long when in use and it barely takes up any space when packed. It's also very light. The fork tines are long enough to fit 2-3 hot dogs, and they are close enough together to both pierce a marshmallow so it doesn't spin when you're trying to rotate it. Possibly the best $3 I've ever spent.

A bit light weight but seems durable enough....
Great fork for camping or BBQs. It seems a bit lightweight for hot dogs or sausage but great for marshmallows. Only time will tell. It seems durable enough. It does extend without issue and easily shrinks back to original size. Looking forward to using on camping trip.

Hotdogs and Marshmallows! (just not, like, at the same time)
We use these to roast marshmallows and hotdogs in the fire pit in our back yard. When I was a kid, I probably would have made fun of anyone who used one of these instead of finding/carving a roasting stick like a real man. But things are different, little-me. I have a job and a house and a wife and I don't go camping all that much any more. When you're an adult, sometimes you have to spend a few bucks for a telescoping fork. At least you still get to play with fire. While we're here, avoid dating a girl with the initials EB. Good talk. They clean easily, store well, and the extension-tension works well enough so you can adjust the length of the fork without having it slip shorter or longer. I'll probably buy some more this summer when we have more friends over for fires.

Awesome for the kids to use without getting too close to the fire.

Superb!
Brilliant. Wish i'd bought them ages ago. Two none sharp prongs (kid/drinker friendly), good length so you don't burn your face off doing your grill bits. The little colour circle turns the fork too, brill. My fave bit though is cos they collapse they fit in my kitchen drawer.

Functional equipment.
Performance as expected, good for frankfurters and marshmallows.

dollar store garbage, too weak to hold a wiener (bends metal)
bought these for camping. absolute garbage. So cheap. tried to roast a wiener (just one) and it was too heavy, it bent the metal. Also you can't rotate what you're roasting because if you turn the wood handle it doesn't actually spin the metal part. The wood just spins in a circle like a striped screw. in order to turn the metal part to rotate what you're roasting you actually have to put your hand on the hot metal rod to spin it and burn your fingers. Also the prongs are too close together so if you want to roast two marshmallows on it that won't work. its spaced about as wide as a corn cob holder. very flimsy. feels like dollar store quality. bought them for xmas and didn't use them till summer so it's too late to return them.

Works great
Does exactly what it's supposed to do, i.e. grilling marshmallow and hot-dogs. For the bigger BBQ hot-dogs, it's better to not fully telescope it. And does complaining that it's loose in the handle, it's meant like that. You just roll the red job to turn your marshmallow, instead of turning the whole stick, which makes it really easy to grill a perfectly even brown not burned marshmallow!
