Great Mat
I have two dogs which love jumping on my door in the yard. I had bought one of these mats to give it a try and omg amazing how quick they stopped the jumping quickly. I ordered another mat to make it a bit longer. I would wear shoes if you step outside because you will feel it with bare feet. No injuries to you or the pet.

Saved my furniture!
Many people don't mind their dogs jumping on furniture, counters. etc. If like me...you love your puppy...but don't want it to jump on furniture, counters, table, etc. These are a great training tool.

I love this product
We just bought a new couch and these work awesome for keeping our big dog off of it. She's heavy and would rip it with her claws. Anyway, I love these because they keep her off.

Keeps the dogs off the couch.
I’m not including a pic of dogs on the couch while these are in place because they work! Our home is home to a German Shepherd, a German Shorthaired Pointer, and a little shitzu mix demon. All 3 love to love the couch and while we could keep them off when we were around, the minute we’re out the door it was like teenagers throwing a boring party. Our couch had become the dog bed. So, when we bought a new couch, we knew we had to do something. Once these were in place it took one time for each dog to jump up on the couch to discover just how uncomfortable the hard plastic points are. So, for us, this was a good buy. Although, because the schitzu demon doesn’t shed, we still allow him up to snuggle in beside us. He just can’t do it while we’re gone now.

Ok, it's been over a year since I bought these
And they are WORKING!!! I have the cheaper, hard version which folds in half, for the seat cushions, and the more expensive flexible version to drape over the top of the backrest cushions on my front porch chairs. Since I'm off-the-scale allergic to cats, and neighborhood cats used to think spending the night on my cushions was the "cat's meow", I'm very happy these are working so well! Sure, I have to take them off and set them aside before I use the chairs, but that's a small price to pay, to be able to use the chairs any time we want. It took me 7 washings (4 times scrubbing with a brush in the utility sink and 3 more times in the frontloader washing machine) to get the black cat hair off my cushion covers the previous year. I thought I'd have to keep the cushions stored in the garage, and only get them out when I wanted to use the front porch! Was not happy at the thought of that! I did a ton of research, and decided these were worth trying. They do not cover every square inch of the cushions, there is probably 4 inches along the front of the seat cushion, and 2" along each side, that are not covered by this mat. However, that isn't a large enough area for an animal to lay, without falling off. Sure, the slightly flexible spikes are not anything I'd want to sit on in less than heavy denim jeans, so they would be uncomfortable to pets... some people say this is cruelty to animals, but it's not going to harm an animal. They would have to put their weight on these spikes for quite a while, before there would be any chance of harm. Most animals will jump off in a nanosecond, because it's unpleasant. I have read that some animals (extremely heavily furred?) like laying on the spikes. I can't confirm it, but if humans can lay on a "bed of nails" then I suppose.... :-)

My favorite pup torture device!
Against my better judgement, my wife decided to allow our cute little 10 week old puppy on all the furniture to snuggle and play. Well the cute little snuggle pup soon turned into a 65lb fur missile launching herself onto unsuspecting humans sitting on the couch at random intervals. In addition, she would use the ottomans as intermediate launch stations to gain extra lift and velocity. Not being a fan of the electrified systems out there (just seemed a little too medieval), I opted for what I call the spike strip approach. Got several of these mats & they work great! I put them on the ottomans as a test and placed the pup's paw on them as a warning. She did not like that at all, but like all pups she has a short memory. One circus vault onto said ottoman was enough to cure her! No longer launching onto family and guests. The spikes are not sharp enough to do any damage to her paws, but they are not comfortable! I think it is the surprise factor more than the discomfort that worked in our case. There are definitely other ways to train your dog to stay off the furniture, but if you've been a bad human, these can help you get control back quickly. BTW - they fold for storage which is a nice plus.

pets don't mind, but people do!
this thing hurts like a [@#*&$*#&] to step or sit on. cats seem to be totally ambivalent toward it but i guarantee your sub won't be. just the right size to put on a chair or bench, assuming you don't just leave it on the floor. folds up well enough to keep tucked away when not needed.

Brilliant simple way to keep pets off furniture
Sooo easy. Lightweight, easy to pick up and stash under the chair or couch when a human wants to sit, easy to replace when you get up. Wonderful to have clean furniture. Dogs are happy on the floor, it turns out. They easily adjusted to their new reality and I could not be happier. I leave them in the full open position at all times, just sliding them next to the chair or under the couch when not needed.

Sofa saver. A definite must have.
Great item, would highly recommend. I have since ordered more and can’t wait for them to arrive. They may seem pricey but in comparison to having to recover or purchase a new sofa or armchair they are value for money. They really do the job they are suppose to. When not in use they can easily slide under the sofa out of sight.

Might work for small to small medium dogs
This may work well with smaller to possibly medium sized dogs My 2 mastiffs walked over this after I placed it on the floor in front of the couch and promptly peed over it ( I bought 4 in total). Placing it on a couch and also counter, they pushed it down. Therefore this did not work for me. It is also VERY expensive for what it is. If you own a lab or golden or similar sized dog, I would give this a pass also. I am giving it 3 stars for the concept which could work if this thing was larger and had a way to stay stationary once placed. Otherwise its another waste of money as I hunt to prevent my dogs from going on the couch.

Works perfectly!
I bought five of these mats because I wanted a hair-free couch and loveseat, and was tired of leaving bags and boxes on them to keep my two dogs off. They have worked perfectly, just as advertised. One word of warning: they might not be a good idea if you have small children around because they are quite pointy and could be a hazard, but in a house of adults and dogs they're fine.

Love this product! Wish I had bought earlier. Stops my dogs from jumping on top of the couch to look out the window and bark at everything that moves!
