installation
Even thou the instructions provide 2 different was to install this onto your post the provided holes did not align with the way I need to install it. Had to elongate the holes on the newspaper box to mount the bracket and get washers to install the mount onto the newspaper box. Other than that it is well made.

Solid and attractive, but unique
Too many newspaper holders are light plastic or built into ugly plastic all-in-one mail posts. This one is solid and well designed. It is a lovely item to hold. It is deep and large enough for a Sunday NYT. The challenge is that there is no standard hole pattern that lets a user install this box with an existing Gibraltar post and mailbox. (I talked to both companies.) To use both products would require drilling additional holes in the mounting plate. Given the heavy gauge of the plate, this could be more than the occasional home repairer would want to undertake.

Over-tightened Mounting Bolts
Because my mounting post is made of cinder block, I had to drill new holes to attach it to the post. I think the finished install looks great. Unfortunately I did over-tighten the mounting bolts causing the rubber washers to split, so I replaced them with faucet washers. It rains a lot where I live but so far no leaks - though water does drip/collect along the top edge so I need to be careful when taking the paper out of the box when it's raining. I was somewhat concerned that my newspaper carrier would not deliver my paper because they use an orange colored reflector to designate their subscribers so I bought a pair of red stick-on auto reflectors. To my surprise they put on a pair of their reflectors on my box.

Standing the test of time!
Snow plow took out the mailbox we share with our neighbor, so we built a new setup and included these "Mail Boss 7114 Newspaper Holders." Hadn't planned on writing a review at the time but, since they still look brand new after two years, we felt compelled to support the product. Heavy, sturdy and well-made. Our family is very pleased. Snow piles above the top mailbox every winter and we experience summer heat up to 105-degrees. Twenty-nine (29) months and still going strong (see attached photos). Seriously doubt we will ever have to replace. Happy to recommend! - "If you found this review to be useful then please click the HELPFUL button below. Thanks and God Bless!"

Great Secure Mail System
I purchased the whole set of Package Mailbox, Paper Box and Post. They look great and are extremely well mad. I compared all the secure mailboxes available that would also handle small packages. I found one that looked pretty good and was considerably less expensive. However when I examined the construction it became clear to me that it was easily compromised with nothing more than a large screwdriver. It had a very flimsy locking door which was easy to pry open. The Mail Boss has a reinforced door and is heavier all around. Very well mad. The only problem I have so far is that the mailman isn't putting the mail in correctly. The instructions are right on the indie of the "in" door. "Envelopes in the slot and packages in the door tray" is what it says in two different places but he apparently has been in too much of a hurry to look at it. As soon as I catch him I'll get that corrected.

Quality Product
This thing is built tough! Built of healthy gauge metal and extremely sturdy. Nothing like I expected. I like that it is roughly 4"' longer than my news paper which helps protect the paper from the rain. Suggestion: Install it on a downward angle toward the front. That will help moisture drain out the front instead of running under the paper itself. I placed 2 washers under the back two holes of the bracket to make it lean slightly forward.

Just what I needed
I put this on my new mail box post made of a treated 4"X4" post. I did need to chisel out some of the wood of the post supporting the mailbox so it would sit flush. I'm a boomer, so I still get a newspaper.
