Great coffee grinder

This a replacement for one that was so simple - on & off. It was such an upgrade with multiple settings, cord storage, stops automatically when finished grinding… didn’t know I needed all these features but so happy to have them.

Read other reviews - and then read the instructions

So prior to purchasing, I read all the reviews. I read the stuff about making sure that the top is screwed on a certain way (read the instructions) because the machine won't start (sort of like a safety feature). It took both my husband and I several tries to get the top on correctly. I was so mad (as was he) that we were all set to return the thing... BUT like all other gadgets, it takes awhile to soften (for lack of a better term) the latch that turns the machine on. After I ground the beans that I needed, I played around with the machine, turning top off and on. I loved every other aspect of the machine. I loved that the blade and coffee bean cup pulls out for easy cleaning. I loved the fact that the base pulls out for the cord to fit into. I also loved the little insert for the brush (so cute!). So I was not going to give up on this machine. It was so much quieter than my krups (which died) and my krups didn't have the removable bean cup thing (making it a pain to clean). Once I turned the top off and on for a few turns while watching a thriller on TV (something for my hands to do while sitting at the edge of my seat), the top now easily locks (at least I don't have to call my husband to "lock" the top). Everything else about the coffee grinder is so nice, so if you love everything else about the coffee grinder and don't mind working the top a bit to soften up the spring inside the "safety latch" thingy, then it's a pretty cool device. But I get it, you shouldn't have to "work at it" to get the thing to work, but I'm glad I did since I liked the design. My husband thinks I got a lemon but now that I got it to work, I don't want to have to re-do it again for the replacement grinder. I hope the rest of you have better luck - I hope Hamilton sees this review and does something about that problem safety latch so others won't have to do the turn off/on to get the latch to "soften" up.

Works fine

This is a great little coffee grinder at first. I've had this product for several months and use it just about every day to grind fresh coffee. After a while, the lid cracked a bit and I have to hold it down while it grinds or it won't turn on. It's cheap, so that's what you get. Still functions, I just wish the lid were made of stronger material so it would last longer.

Great until it wasn’t :(

This grinder was both attractive and functional but the price point is steep for features that don’t last. You could set your grind level in addition to quantity of beans you were grinding and it would automatically grind them for a preset amount of time. 3 months later I’m now having to hold the grinder shut to grind my beans. Should’ve just got a cheaper version of a grinder as now the feature I liked doesn’t work and I’ve missed the return window.

It’s loud but it works great!

This replaced a Hamilton Beach blad grinder we had for 20 years. We stopped using that grinder because the cup latch wore out. This grinder is well made and the fit and finish is excellent. it’s easy to clean and use. He only issue is it is loud compared to our other one. It also travels across the counter when it is working. You have to hold it which on the counter which isn’t that big a deal. The grind is adjustable and really consistent. It’s a keeper!

Great little grinder!

Bought this to replace a previous hamilton beach grinder that I finally wore out after 10+ years of daily use. This is a blade grinder, not a burr grinder, which we need as my husband drinks decaffeinated coffee and I like the regular coffee. A burr grinder with the hopper won't work for us. We drink french press coffee and I've found that if I set it to the coarsest setting on the 4 cup setting it does a great job grinding the beans for the press. Beans look consistently ground. The bean cup holds more than enough beans for our very large press. It's bigger than the previous model actually and I really like that the bean cup is all stainless steel this time. It's messy, yes, but we are used to that as it's similar to our old model. A little tapping on the lid prior to opening settles the beans and reduces much of the static electricity that causes most of the mess. I read some of the reviews that mention it breaking quickly and I'm really hoping that's not our experience. This model seems very sturdy and I hope it lasts as long as the rest of my hamilton beach products.

Works well but locking mechanism is fiddly at first

Got this to replace a well used Black and Decker blade grinder and needed something right away. The reviews seemed good as well as the price. Really wanted a burr grinder but that's not in the budget at the moment. This grinder has good capacity, is easy to clean and does not take up much storage space. As a few other reviewers have indicated, it took me a few tries to get it to work at first because the lid must lock correctly in place and be perfectly aligned before it will turn on. It was very hard to get the lid unlocked once it is in place with my rather weak arthritic grip. Once I figured out what to do it is working fine and the lid is now easier to get in position to grind and then unlock. Grinds beans uniformly. I do like that the amounts and grinds are adjustable as I regularly switch between French press, moka pot (espresso) and pour over.

Worth it...good price and does its job

I had this for 8 months and I love it, I have no problem so far and it's still working. It's really quiet when it grinds and I like how it has selection on the course of your coffee grounds and it stops grinding based on your selection. The cute little brush is useful to brush off the coffee ground residue from stainless steel cup. Measurement line in the cup is helpful too. It's so easy to clean and easy to put it away (the only problem is it doesn't fully hides the cord). The stainless steel cup is easy to remove and put it back on. I overall it worth it, it's cheap and it does the job very well.

Perfect machine, great customer service

I mostly grind flax and chia seeds in the grinder. I wanted a large one which was very easy to clean so that the left over flax dust wouldn't clog up my sink drain. The pieces come apart so I can easily clean it before getting it near the sink. I found that the first one I ordered didn't always want to work - the lid didn't fit properly. I called Hamilton Beach and they immediately sent me a replacement grinder, without me having to return the difficult one to them. The second one works perfectly. So I'm very happy with both the machine and the excellent customer service.

Very impressed with the convenience and build quality so far.

I used to use a hand bur grinder that would take 5 minutes to grind my beans by hand every the morning. This grinder does it in 13 second, and to me result looks just as consistent. I love that the inner cup is removable for easy emptying and washing, the extra brush on the back comes in really handy and stores neatly, and hidden power cable winder keeps your counter top looking tidy. Overall I'm very chuffed with this grinder so far. Properly designed and built by a known brand at a very good price. I hope it lasts me a long time. If I had to say something I didn't like, I think the start button is a tad wobbly, but the selector switch is solid.
