Let's be honest you like this one because it's pretty...me too. But that's really all it is.
Let's be honest you like this one because it's pretty...me too. But that's really all it is. Commerical Cotton Candy machines start at around $600 so this one seems like a bargain. But have the price - 1/3 the machine. This is an in between machine. Not as slow or simple as a counter top machine but not nearly fast enough for even carnivals or fairs. My package arrived quickly with no signs of damage to the box and seemed well packed inside, but as soon as it was unpacked it was clear that the welds were a mess. the paint was cracked and chipped around them like they had been bent, I am not sure if this was a referb machine or just defective. Expect any attempt at assembly to be a nightmare as you will be given NO instructions to do this and if your package is anything like mine the pieces won't line up anyway. I could have gotten them to go together if I bent the legs quite a bit and attempted to pop out some of the dented welded areas but I didn't want to press my luck. At any rate the "Cart" is extremely flimsy and I can't imagine you could actually push this machine very far - like across a parking lot - the cart is more for the look. I contacted the company about the useless cart and was supplied with a phone number hours to call someone. Which is really a pain considering you can't send photos over the phone so I expect this machine will cost me at least another hour or two of my life to deal with. Given it was the Christmas season and I was in a hurry just placed the machine on a table and pressed on - you will need to do this outside because it is messy (Think sugary cobwebs flying everywhere) and your smoke alarms will probably go off if you do it inside. This machine doesn't smoke but the sugar flying through the air seems to irritate the alarm. Outside is a better choice anyway unless you enjoy melted cotton candy whisps in your carpets, drapes and furniture. Even outside you will want a bubble cover otherwise the slightest breeze will really mess up your ability to make cotton candy. I bought a no name brand from Amazon and it fit well although it did make the machine louder - even with it you can expect to get a bit messy since your arm will be inside the bubble gathering cotton candy the entire time it is on. (Another $100 for top) Don't forget cones ($15) and sugars ($20) and then...heartbreak... The cotton candy was lovely but not the standard fluffy kind you get at the fair - less fluffy my guess is the sugar "webs" it spins are less fine, maybe it was the heating element or the speed of the spin either way it was just as delicious but not the fuffy treat I was . The cotton candy will NOT stick to the sides as it does with commercial machines (although hard sugar crystals will) and if the spun cotton candy builds up at all it will get sucked into the center and melt into the unspun melted sugar in the center making the whole batch taste terrible. You will have to gather the cotton candy the entire time, that's a lot of sticky sugar flying onto your sleeves. The first batch is always a bit crunchy and molten sugar crystals will gather on the sides and need to be chipped off after about 5 cones or it will fall off glacier style and get stuck to your cotton candy making it crunchy. The real problem here is that it will take you about 2-3 minutes per cone...doesn't sound like a lot but if you have a family of 5 you will spend 7 minutes warming up the machine a sticky 15 minutes making the cotton candy, since the center only holds about 1 serving at a time you will have to stop the machine inbewtween to add sugar and then restart, possibly stop to knock down the sugar and clean it out of the pan if it builds up too much after this it will be another 5 minutes to cool it down and then another 15 cleaning out the pan. - That doesn't seem worth it for a small crowd but if you have a birthday party of 15 or 20 - prepare for carpal tunnel and expect to change food gloves at least 3 times and if you don't have wisps of cotton candy in your eyebrows you're a better carnie than I. I'm not sure what kid would wait an hour for his cotton candy so if you have a crowd you'll have to pre make it and bag. Oh and if the air is even slightly moist - forget about it!!!! All in all the machine is really cute, and the idea is good but I am not sure what market this might serve. Too slow for crowds or serious cotton candy making - Expensive, big and cumbersome for smaller uses. The bottom line is if you need a machine for a one time special event you'd be better off renting a better machine (around $50)for the day or buying premade cotton candy. If you just really want to make your own cotton candy you could buy like 14 table top machines after you add the bubble to your cost. They might be slower but at least they would be easier to clean. As for me I'll be biting the bullet and buying a bigger better machine. But it really is a pretty shade of pink.

love it!
I love this!!! I wanted to see if it was truly any better than the $40 ones you can buy. This is 800xs better. it heats up fast and it isn't as messy as people say as long as you figure out how to catch the cotton candy once it starts coming out. It does not come with a cover. the cover is sold separately at $80 which i think is absolutely ridiculous when this cost so much. I was lucky enough to snag one of these on deep discount because it was an open box item. Parts of it were already put together by whoever had it first which was probably a good thing because the directions were horrible. luckily it wasn't too hard with a little bit of common sense to assemble. we will be using this for a 5 year old birthday in a few weeks so i will update m,y review when we have used it for an extended time. so far it has only been used about 5 times and only to make cotton candy for maybe 10 to 15 minutes at a time. Super easy clean up. the sugar just melts off with water. no need to clean the inside where the candy goes as long as you leave the machine on and make sure all the sugar comes out in cotton candy form. the boxes in the background of the photo is what it was shipped in so its pretty large!

Love it
When I received the cotton candy machine it did not come with a power cord! I had sent them a message about it but got no respons, then a few weeks later the cord came in the mail and the cotton candy machine works! It's sooooo easy to use and heats up really fast, plus it's easy to clean. To clean I put a few scoops of water in the middle when it's on, I do this every other day. Once a week I unscrew the top off and clean the inside. The cart has wheels to make moving it easier and has a nice drawer to store your sugars in. So far I love it! The cotton candy it makes is nice and fluffy! We use hard candy and cotton candy sugar.

This cotton candy maker is like the real deal
Oh my gosh! This cotton candy maker is like the real deal. The directions are not extensive and it came with one extra part that we can't figure out but so far we don't seem to need it! The cotton candy is amazing! It makes huge carnival size portions. I would recommend that adults or age 15+ handle the machine clean up. The directions recommend pouring water into the heat chamber and a huge puff of steamy water comes out to clear out the sugar. You are "sort of" warned in the directions but it takes a few tries to get the hand of it. Outdoor use would be optimal!

Great product
We LOVE the cotton candy machine!! Easy to assemble and un assemble. Came with instructions easy to read and follow. Once heated, which is about 5 mins, instantly as soon as you put sugar in it start making the cotton candy so be ready! But awesome machine!

Best purchase ever
Best purchase ever! So easy to clean. The only downside are the directions. Luckily I'm a handy woman who rarely looks at directions, so I figured it out, but there are really no directions for putting this baby together. I highly recommend purchasing the plastic dome (different company brand), as you will have cotton candy flying everywhere. Overall, I think this guy is great, super sturdy, easy to clean. It's not the lightest pink color, more of a bubble gum pink.

Works well!
Love the product. However, once u pour the sugar into the sugar compartment, the machine quickly makes a web of cotton candy. You must have your cotton candy stick ready to retrieve the cotton candy or you will be left with a mess.

No instructions for assembly but...
I had my boyfriend put the cart together, I'm pretty good with assembly most of the time but there were no instructions and lots of parts, I didn't want to mess with it. He said it was pretty simple and took no time. The machine works pretty well, second batch of cotton candy is always better than the first. I think it will prove to be a pretty sound investment.
